This place deserves no stars. As we depart from Barcelona…read moretoday, I want to share the horrible experience we got at Mercury Hotel (where we were placed by our tour company. To start some of the rooms we got assigned were not ready by the time we had reached the hotel (8pm on a Tuesday night), by the time I was able to take a shower, all the water had flooded all over the bathroom floor. When I complained they basically told me to take a shorter shower. The service was horrible, most of the staff were rude, the food was old, unsanitary, and/or plain unappetizing. Do not stay there. Find another place!

Several days into my trip while staying in the apartment block someone came into our room while we were away and stole all of our money, a recently purchased brand new bottle of designer perfume, designer sunglasses, and a bottle of cologne. My friend and i immediately tried to get ahold of our boyfriends (who were in town) and we went down to the front desk to report it. The front desk was pretty ambivalent to the whole fact and when I asked for them to call the police to the hotel so I could make a report they told me no and I'd have to travel to the police station myself. At 6 months pregnant and with 7€ in my possession I asked them how I was supposed to get there as I still had 2 days left on my trip and ALL my money - including American dollars - was gone. They suggested that it wasn't bad that it was "only a half hour walk" in the humid weather. There were no signs of forced entry to the door (which immediately locks when you close it) and the only room key was in my possession the whole time. Of the group of 5 of us that were staying in the apartment ALL of us were together the whole time we were out. It's obvious that someone with a staff key came into the room and took their time to go through both bedrooms and a living room and steal all of our money and our valuable possessions. This place is dirty and horrible and service and compassion are non-existent. DO NOT STAY HERE.

We loved the food- so many choices and absolutely delicious! I would recommend the Stella if you are looking for a reasonably priced all inclusive about 90 minutes from Barcelona.

Restaurant nice and clean also, food lovely, does get a little busy at meal times but that is what you expect on an all inclusive holiday. Entertainment good, kids disco, bingo on every night till 10pm, then karoke till 12 midnight. Outside acts also on some nights. My only two faults about this hotel is the shade around the pool, you have to get a sunbed on the opposite side of the hotel otherwise you have to wait for the sun to come round. The only other fault is the walls are extremely thin, so thin you can even hear your next door neighbour go to the toilet!! All in all a great hotel.

The reception and restaurant staff and younger barstaff are friendly and helpful but the older barstaff all seem to have had a warning that to smile could break their faces. The food was warm but not very palatable and the drink [we were all inclusive] was not very strong [you tend to get waterlogged before you get tipsy] A lot of coach trips with Italian and French students were present during our stay and they were a bit of a nuisance at night times particularly if your rooms were on the same floor or your room was directly below theirs. Entertainment was very basic [however it was February] and there was an evening with flamenco dancers, two evening quizzes, and a disco every evening from 9.00ish. The cost for this HTOP hotel is low and good value, but we found ourselves eating out on an evening after three or four days of variations of meals with pork, chicken, fish and tasteless pasta dishes. Smoking is allowed in some of the bedrooms but not inside anywhere else! There is a jacuzzi and gym in the basement and the outside pool was clean and cold! [not surprising considering the temperatures were only an unseasonable 8-10C] Overall worth around 3.5 stars.
