He knew we were novice and agree to steer us in the right direction. Well after we gave him his first payment things changed . He was less helpful , took long to correspond. We could only get an appointment on Wednesdays and after the third visit he wanted $100 to talk to him for an hour. He him self never came out to the property to look, he sent a "draftsmen" that had no idea what was going on. He charged me $500. The guy drew the wrong lay out. We had to wait weeks to get him to correct the drawing only to screw it up again. And charged me another $500. That drawing was wrong too! I had to draw the kindergarten version of what I wanted for him to get the point. Even after all of this Patrick Allen living a few block away never came to the property. Patrick Allen took months for what was literally a week long process. He had me get specs for equipment that he never put in the drawing and didn't even know what I was talking about when I asked him where the specs were at on the drawings. This guy took so long with 1 simple drawing that I had to expedite the job and pay out more money. The architect I brought in after said that he must had put this drawing on a template because nothing was right on the drawing. For example. He put a salamander on the drawing. I never once told him I had a salamander. He put a 6 burner stove which I also never gave him as a spec. This made it more expensive for me to get an electrician and plumber because they go by the amount of fixtures on the plan. He took almost 5 months for 1 simple drawing then after I called him a thief for charging me twice for the draftsmen he gave me my $500. Now 6 months later my new architect tells me Patrick Allen filed the wrong application. So now I have to pay all over again. 5K down the drain. I felt like he's was jealous of us cause we're young entrepreneurs and he made a few bad choices in his career forcing a split in his company. This isn't the last he will be hearing from me. I will be suing the shit out of him once I'm done with my project! He better get ready for war!

When it came to interior design, we had Sarah who provided feedback and suppliers information. She was also very helpful. Jim knows the DOB process well and helped us resolved many issues even during covid and DOB rule changed in 2020 and 2021. We also had him manage the project with the contractors. The contractors don't have the same design eyes and were a bit sloppy and forgetful so it was imperative to have Jim help us. Urban charges by the hour and provided an accurate estimate of the cost. Make sure what projects he's working on so he can allocate time properly. In the beginning with the design drawing schematic, it took a while cause he was on a couple of brownstone projects but overall still have a very positive experience with Jim. He was responsive.
