I am honestly quite surprised to see Baylor University Medical Center has such a low overall…read morerating, because my experience (while a bit unconventional) was a really positive one. I visited on a random Friday afternoon specifically to see The Adrian E. Flatt, M.D. Hand Exhibit, and it was absolutely fascinating!!! Dr. Flatt, one of the foremost hand surgeons in the world, made significant contributions to orthopedic surgery and began casting and bronze-coating the hands of notable individuals back in 1962. Walking through the exhibit, I was truly mesmerized by the detail and individuality captured in each cast - it's incredible to see just how different people's hands can be. Highlights for me personally included the hands of Walt Disney, Louis Armstrong, Katharine Hepburn, several US Presidents, athletes like Troy Aikman, etc., and even expeditionists like Everest survivor Beck Weathers. The exhibit is located in the lobby area of the hospital and appears to be open to the public, though you will need to obtain a visitor pass so be sure to bring your ID (a photo of it on your phone works too... ask me how I know). The exhibit itself is free to view. It's more of a hallway-style display, a bit tucked away, quiet, and not busy. There's something oddly human and grounding about focusing on something as simple as hands in a place where so much serious care happens. I also grabbed a coffee from the nearby cafeteria and had no complaints, it was actually quite good and a nice added bonus. As for parking... I can't confidently speak to that, as we may have risked it a bit (oops). So while I can't speak to patient care (thankfully), this visit was a memorable and worthwhile experience. It's a unique hidden gem within the hospital and a great place to spend a little time if you're nearby, especially if you're looking for a quiet moment of reflection. Five stars for this unexpected find. Thank you to my friend and Atlas Obscura for the intel!

Let me begin by saying that this review is in regards to Dr. Evans who is at this location, as she…read moreis my primary care physician. I met Dr. Evans through a referral when I was laid up in a hospital bed at Baylor and was wanting to cut ties with my then medical team. I went to her office and basically interviewed her, I asked questions, things that didn't relate to my medical history to make sure that I was comfortable with her treating me. That was 7 years ago and I couldn't be happier to have Dr. Evans as my doctor. We have been through lots of ups & downs together regarding my medical health and she always remains positive as well as making me feel like she has my best interest at the forefront. On a recent visit Dr. Evans could tell something was wrong before I could even open my mouth to tell her. And when I left she told me if I needed anything before my next visit to not hesitate to contact her. I love Dr. Evans, I can't say that enough and if you are lucky, she can be your doctor as well.

Pros: - I received my results within an hour of leaving my appointment. Other locations take multiple hours or even days. - Customers shouldn't have any trouble parking in their spacious lot. - Their lobby enforces social distancing, which includes chairs spanning into their hallways. - I found their receptionists courteous, and they processed my co-pay quickly. Cons: - They had my correct health information on file, but they couldn't process it, initially. (The clinic should've rechecked before calling me twice.) - To better enforce social distancing, the clinic could've processed payment over the phone instead of in person, and they didn't use gloves when handling my ID or credit card. - I arrived at 11:30 am and didn't get my test until 12:15 pm. - After receiving the test, they closed the door, and I sat there for twenty minutes. I then went into the hallway to ask a nurse if I could leave, and she said yes. In conclusion, would I go here again to receive another COVID-19 test? Maybe. I appreciate their quick turnaround time, but I plan on visiting another clinic in the future.

This place stinks in so many ways. Of course, pretty much the case at any hospital. The healthcare…read morein U.S.A. has failed patients.. I gave 2 stars because of some outstanding doctors and nurses. They really cared, attentive and worked hard trying to keep my brother alive. I can list those people because they were so memorable and kind. These were all during his many, many hospital stays. I feel like that if you don't get these people, you might be lucky to stay alive. The lack of help, lack of staff (some fell asleep while we were in our floor room), excruciating long wait in ER, lack of doctors or nurses coming in ER room. HOURS and HOURS and HOURS waiting in an ER hallway with NO ONE helping. Even when he was in dire straights, including throwing up blood, they were slow (not to a room and seen by nurse and doctor to control theowing up) it was after they got him "stable" which he was not. The incredibly slow process of getting a room. They assign one BUT hours and hours of wait time. With the excuse they need to clean it. Again, is this a lack of staffing or just in no hurry for patients. We think their moto should be: UTSW we strive to just do a hurry up and wait and wait and wait to help you. I will never go there. Surely there is a better solution than this kind of care. Don't be fooled by their "#1 hospital in Texas". It is ONLY in research. I wish their research was better in our situation. There really are some fantastic staff and doctors we have been very blessed in that way. Especially, some of his doctors that have been caring, attentive, educational, saved his life more than once in the past 4 years. Dr. Goldschmidt, Dr. Sawas, Dr. Kim, Dr. Mufti, Dr. Chittajallu, Dr. Bradley, etc. I know I am missing some of these fantastic doctors and nurses. I am very sorry to miss your names. These listed were his hospital stays. THE VERY sad thing is they probably don't read these reviews and do more to address these very serious issues. I have worked with the complaint department to help but it has been mostly a miss. There were a couple of people who did great. It's frustrating to see your loved one suffering for hours and hours and hours with limited assistance. I have shed many a tear during these years.
