When we were here two years ago we sat in the dining area (neat and clean). They have a nice big window looking out into a little square. We did not sample the bread but judging by the empty bins they are quite popular. We went there several times over our weeklong stay and found that all the women there spoke excellent English, which was extremely helpful. They were also very friendly.

It is made with a buttery hazelnut crust and currants. Not raspberries like I have always seen on the knock-offs. (Although admittedly, those are pretty good too....no harm, no foul......they just aren't really what linzer tortes really are.) Anyhow, it's a busy little shop and we had a private section upstairs to enjoy our coffee. Our guide told us to put the little chocolate in the coffee too. Though the address says it is on Getreidegasse, it is located down an alleyway off it. It is a longtime Salzburg confectionery as it was founded in 1880. The shop has a delectable selection of sweet treats, including pastries, cakes (individual and slices) and chocolates. They also serve coffee drinks and have a good amount of seating if you are dining in. I loved this place so much that I visited it twice in one day for breakfast and an evening dessert. Their hazelnut pastry is something I still crave and think about. And make sure to try their sacher torte if you love chocolate cakes. It is clear why this business has stood the test of time. The quality of their products and the service here is great.

The pastries are all prepared fresh daily! They open at 8:30 so you can come by for a great breakfast of meat and bread/rolls or you can skip straight to a piece of Sacher or a cream Schnitte! Their prices are reasonable, especially considering it's location in a very popular part of old town Wels.
