It is also difficult to find someone to work on an I/O motor. I can't say enough wonderful things about a couple of Pier 36's boat mechanics (Caleb and Daniel). I could tell the minute I met Caleb that he knew what he was doing and had lots of experience. I needed my bellows replaced and he took the time to make sure everything was fine with my boat after the work was finished and we put it back in the lake. He even called me a couple days after he did the work to make sure everything was okay (great customer service in my opinion). Caleb and Daniel also replaced my ignition switch because the starter was engaging when I switched from forward to reverse which caused a terrible grinding noice. Caleb also adjusted some cables and now my shifter lever is smoother than ever. I am very pleased with the service I have received and I highly recommend Pier 36

We reserved the boat online where we were able to reserve for the number of hours we wanted. We choose the lowest option which was 2 hours. Upon showing up for our reservation we were given a test for a one day boaters license. We were then taken out to the boat and walked through all the safety features before being sent out on the lake. The lake is not incredibly large but big enough to find a spot to relax, swim or drive around looking at scenery. We look forward to visiting this location again soon.

Outdated online prices and weekend 3-hour minimum squeeze renters…read more The lake is beautiful, but the pricing tactics here are completely misleading.Their website lists the small fishing boat at a lower rate.When you get to the counter, the actual price is $65/hour for the absolute cheapest boat available.To make it worse, they squeeze weekend renters by forcing a strict 3-hour minimum rental. It drops to 2 hours on weekdays when fewer people are around. They also require a massive temporary card hold upfront. Even after the deposit was refunded our final actual rental total came to $140 with a military discount once gas and fees were added. Splitting that down the middle meant it still cost me $70 out of pocket for my half just to ride in the most basic aluminum boat available. Renters without a discount can expect to pay even more. Forcing an unnecessary third hour means paying for extra time you don't even want or need. Expecting small kids to go 3 hours without a restroom break is completely unrealistic. If you head back early the marina just pockets the cash for time you couldn't use. This feels like a rigid money grab designed to exploit weekend crowds who have no choice but to pay up. To be fair, the counter staff & dock crew was very nice and helpful, but they don't make the rules. We love the lake, but we will not rent here again.

This area can be accessed from Sunbury Road (near the dam) or from Central College Rd. When entering from Central College Road, there is a nice parking area and a picnic shelter. The recreation area below the dam is spacious and allows for a variety of recreational activities.

These "kids" told us all to "fuck off" and we decided to have a word with their parents at their campsite. Eventually, the owner was contacted by the parents, law enforcement officers were called and we were asked to leave the campgrounds without any direct word to/from the owner! We found out after the fact that the owner was best buddies with the people who disrespected our requests, and he didn't care in any way about our inconvenience. We will not be going back here, ever. Last summer, Fiancé and I got placed in sit-in kayaks for the first time. Less than a mile down the river, he complains that he's really uncomfortable, and isn't sure what to do with his feet. Turns out they set him off on a 6-mile trip with NO FOOTRESTS inside the kayak. So Fiancé's excursion ended with a lot of lower back pain. This summer, I went online and reserved an 11-mile trip at 10:00 on a Sunday, three weeks in advance. They called to confirm that I was squared away. Then when I showed up at 9:55, I was told they weren't opening until 11 that morning. When I said I had a 10:00 reservation for the 11-mile trip, they said they hadn't been doing the long trips all week. They didn't have any of my information available, or lost it, so instead of a phone to call give me a heads up, I find this out after driving 35 minutes to the livery. Until they can fix their equipment and have a better booking system in place, I'm done with this company. Our bodies and our time are far too valuable to risk any more mishaps.

It was nine dollars or five dollars a bundle, which I didn't think was too bad in the locals sell firewood as well. There were so many kids there and they had their dogs there and there is an opening down to the water and my dogs had a blast playing fetch in the water
