The ordering was slow, and despite writing our order out in the Notes to avoid any confusion, dishes still arrived wrong. It took a lengthy conversation with our server before she even understood what had been sent out incorrectly -- time we simply didn't have. We raised the issue and noticed them we wouldn't be able to finish in time given their mistakes. Their response? After 1h 15min, staff swooped in to clear plates -- while one of our friends was still eating. And they still charge a service fee for this? The food is the one saving grace, but the management is chaotic and the attitude toward customers is unacceptable.

The hamachi kama was nicely charred and still very juicy on the inside. The skewers (yakitori and beer tongue in the picture) were also very tasty and the meat was very tender. I look forward to visiting this restaurant again to try their other skewers!

Service was attentive, ambience was elevated yet casual and the prices and portions are very fair. I had the Char Kuey Tiew noodle dish (that we call Drunken Noodles in the states) and it was delicious! Looking forward to trying more things on their extensive menu.

Come hungry as food portions are on the larger side of life, however, if you're ordering sushi, it's quality over quantity. The menu consists of reasonable prices, and covers a few options; Sushi, Ramen, and Rice dishes. You can find vegetarian options, and the staff are very good about you having food allergies or intolerances - so just let them know upon ordering. I love the raw juices and the sake/fruit on the drinks menu. There's a decent selection of wines, so if you're not up for drinking in a pub, it's perfectly acceptable to grab a bottle and share here. My husband ordered the Tori Katsu curry (R4) for mains, the rainbow roll (M14) to share for starters, and I had a salmon box (V3) and sake sashimi (H18). In hindsight, I could have left the sashimi as I was actually rather full from the other two dishes. I highly recommend you pop in if you haven't already, delicious food!!!

Quite ridiculous i would pay CAD30 in Vancouver for something like this lol Summary: The self-proclaimed authentic sushi is a convenient comfort sushi in my opinion. Just for your information I have eaten so much omakase and make sushi by myself that I am really aware what is good sushi. The sushi here is even more backwater than Canadian sushi lol. In my opinion, you should only come here for the cheap bento box for it to be worth it other than that pass it do not come here pretty sure there are better sushi in London that is more worth it. I hope this review can help you making better choice for you eating the right sushi in London. Cheers! Do no hesitate to ask question if you have. Anyway, this is not recommended for me.

Mediocre food at very expensive prices. The interior design is quite nice but the rest of the…read moreoperation is a pan asian affair that you would find in a typical suburban mall in the States. You know going in here that the quality probably isn't going to be good. Straight away it violates two rules of good dining: 1) Pan anything is usually pretty poor, 2) A huge menu that doesn't make any choices is probably going to suffer. We ordered one of the set menus. As far as I could tell, this place dedicated to "sticks" and "sushi" had no "tuna" or "negima" on the menu at all which is pretty weird to start but we definitely tried to find them. Instead, salmon seemed to be the fish of choice and all of the ala carte skewers were at exorbitant prices; note that a much more delicious yakitori anything in Japan costs about 100-200 yen, not 1500 yen, but ok. Instead of beloved tuna we received red pepper nigiri as part of our set menu - what? There was a chicken roll that was kind of like a grilled chicken salad in rice paper that was OK. Etc. The quality of the fish in the nigiri wasn't bad but they have no idea how to make sushi rice here so I would avoid nigiri all together and just stick to sashimi if you're going to order from the sushi side of the menu. Oh and my 350ml bottle of junmai cost 49£, which was pretty typical for the sake prices here. So yeah, if you're visiting from the States set your sights on "Suburb Mall Court Fusion" with a bill around 200 bucks and you'll have an idea of what you're in for. Avoid it.

Maki is decorated in a typically traditional way for a Japanese restaurant, along with a choice of regular tables and chairs or the more traditional floor table and cushions for a more authentic Japanese experience. It's also a lot more reassuring when all of the staff are Japanese as you can usually expect the food to be a little more authentic. The selection available doesn't disappoint with a wide variety of the usual dishes of sashimi, donburi, tempura, teppen yaki, noodles and other main dishes. However, they don't offer bento boxes for those of you who are fond of them. Their drinks menu is also very extensive so as well as the usual teas and spirits they also stock a lot of Japanese whiskies, beers and sake. The prices are also extremely reasonable for imported Japanese drinks of this quality. I've eaten here several times and sampled the majority of the menu as it fast became my favourite Japanese restaurant in London. The food is extremely delicious so certainly doesn't disappoint and I've always found the service fast and the staff friendly and helpful. With a location not far from Kew and just at the start of Richmond it's also very accessible so if you're ever in the area and fancy a great, authentic Japanese meal then give it a try!

You get even more sides to pair with all the goodies mentioned. I guess you can say bento boxes are like comfort foods to me. When I first moved here, I tried Tokyo Diner in Chinatown and was not impressed (aside from their feature of upgrading to a bigger size at no charge, that's awesome). However, Maki's chicken teriyaki bento is fantastic. Instead of traditional charboiled or grilled chicken breast (or thighs), they dip the chicken pieces in batter, fry it lightly and then put the crack sauce (teriyaki sauce...I do love my sauces) on top of the chicken. Delicious. Pair it with the bento rice and it turns into a dangerous combo -- meaning I can't stop eating it even when I get full. Can one die from eating too much teriyaki chicken and rice?? I also ordered their assorted veggie tempura, and it was just as good. Lightly battered veggies with great dipping sauce. Goes great with rice. For 1.50 quid you get a HUGE steaming cup of green tea to wash everything down. I will be back. However, please be aware of the "optional" 12.5% service charge that they automatically add to your total. If you do takeaway, it's 10% off your order.

Ramen, Amaebi, Salmon nigiri and sashimi, Karaage chicken, prawn fried rice and vegetable gyoza. First off, the fish was really fresh and that's always the number one thing. The head was not served, but it was probably due to their customer base. The Karaage chicken was very tasty. We all thought the fried rice could have used more flavor. In the end, we ate everything.
