We stayed at the Conrad for 2 nights and ate at Thai Bistro both nights! There are 3 Thai chefs from Thailand who work at Thai Bistro and they are amazing at what they do! The food is authentic which is impressive for a resort town. After 5 days of Portuguese food, it was refreshing to change it up with some Thai food! I highly recommend the papaya salad, beef salad, steamed fish with chili, rack of lamb, and dessert! We wanted to try to homemade coconut ice cream and mango sticky rice but were too full both nights. Lastly, the service is incredible. The waiters are friendly and funny and made the dining experience enjoyable. I would highly recommended Thai Bistro to anyone staying on the area!

After far too long (we were almost done our wine bottle) I flagged someone who said we needed to order at the front. After that, it was a great experience! You choose what you want from a table of seafood on ice (we did grilled squid for two. The woman showed us the squid, weighed it, went to the back and got another fresh squid when it wasn't enough. Very cool. Others in front of us chose fish and clams from the case that looked incredible). The view of the marina is lovely. Please note - food comes with boiled potatoes (perfectly cooked) and a mixed salad of lettuce, onions, and tomatoes (no dressing, vinegar and olive oil on the side). The squid was cooked perfectly with a lot (a pool) of olive oil (we dipped the potatoes in it), cilantro, and a ton of garlic. Exactly how I like it, but if you don't love garlic, be aware. The dining area was understated and elegant, and menus were available in English, despite none of the staff on duty speaking it. Portugese is not one of the languages we speak, even brokenly, so this did make for some difficulty for all involved. We got over the difficulty and ordered a light appetizer to go with the olives, bread, and cheese that Portugese restaurants invariably place on the table, and charge for if one eats them. We get the munchies and didn't mind the small charges, as the olives were quite good, and our ham appetizer went much better with bread and cheese. Raz ordered the cuttlefish, which neither of us had tried before. It was obviously well prepared, and definitely much more to Raz's taste than mine. The accompanying potatoes, however, were quite tasty. I had the Octopus Rice, which seemed a small enough dish, until I realized the croc holding it must have been at least 1.5 liters, and it was full up to the brim! I made a valiant effort, and even got Raz to help me, but over a third was left when I couldn't eat another bite. Word of advice to future patrons, get the octopus rice and share it as a main dish between 2-3 people. It's wonderful, heart, filling fare and there's a ton of it! We had no room for dessert, and I still felt hugely full after the walk back to our lodgings. All-in-all, it was only somewhat better than a-ok, but the rating system won't let us give a 3.5. We gave that extra half-star for being more available than the posted hours would suggests.
