The bartenders were welcoming and engaging, and we never felt uncomfortable despite being a group of gals in a new city where we spoke very little of the language. Our drinks were all served beautifully in fun glassware, and the drinks themselves were all really good. I asked for a nonalcoholic drink with a ginger beer base and I honestly don't quite know what I got but it was tasty and I enjoyed it. I'd say Hemingway is more of a relaxed upscale lounge vibe which is exactly what we wanted (not like a rager bar scene), and definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

It's about a 6 minute taxi ride from there. We were seated in the back room with the writing covering the walls. The front bar seemed a little livelier but we took what was offered. Husband had house red wine (3.50 euros) and I had sangria (4.50 euros). Good pours for both. We started with the red shrimp (gambillos) in a lemongrass sauce, about 6 shrimp for 15 euros. Then grilled octopus (which was very tender) over mash potatos and snap peas for 15 euros. We also had a side of grilled bread (4 pieces) for 3.5. We also ordered the Pepita beef with mash potato but took home for dinner as we were full (18 euros). We finished with the homemade corn ice cream with carmelized popcorn and raspberries, which was very unique at 6.5. We added our names to the wall to top off the meal. Service was quick and friendly. Total bill was 85 euros including 5 drinks. It was our best meal in Barcelona so far.
