Stefan took care of our small pond. He replaced the pump, saved the fish and cleaned up after the job was complete. The pond had been sorely neglected and was pretty dirty but it is now sparkling and clean. In addition he replaced the pump in a wall water feature, and then replaced a fountain that had been destroyed in the front. He was on time, reasonably priced and we highly recommend him. One of the best experiences we've had with a contractor. read more

We moved into a house with a pond that got grimy and gross a month or two after we moved in. We called a couple of pool guys and got nowhere and no one would provide an estimate without charging a fee. I was so happy we found Stefan. He did a free on site inspection and quote and provided a wealth of information to keep us informed to have our pond looking beautiful just as it looked after Stefan did the work needed. I also appeciate the warranty as the company stands behind there work. I will definitely be calling this business in the future for all my pond needs. read more

Stefan and his team are wonderful. They do a great job maintaining our little water feature. We've used other people in the past, and I was convinced that the feature was just going to look grimy and gross. Now that we have Koi Shui maintaining it monthly, it always looks fantastic!! read more

Koi Show Aquatics was referred to us by our contractor to handles the needed pump and filter equipment for our new water features for recent landscaped yard. Stefan recommended the size of all the needed equipment and did the installations for our 2 fountain pools with vertical spouts, both connect by a long rill. The result is just what we wanted. Stefan is truly an expert engineering the needs for our water features, was very patient and clearly explains what he was doing and answering all out questions along the construction process. When completed, I asked that a few items be added to allow wifi use as opposed to close range Bluetooth, as well as additional fountain spout spray design options. He was able to provide those at a reasonable cost and now I'm able to changeout the spray options very simply whenever I like. I highly recommend Koi Shui Aquatics and will definitely use him for whatever additional work or maintenance I need in the future. read more

My husband & I have been struggling with our 2500 gallon koi & goldfish pond for 1 1/2 years. It became overgrown with lily roots & we had to clean it out completely & start all over with fresh water & one brave goldfish, who survived the lily infestation. (We named her Hope.) That was just the beginning of the beginning. In a few weeks, we thought we had the pond under control and bought a few tiny koi. We tried to control the water with chemicals & careful monitoring, but it was still turning murky ... again. After several attempts with other "experts" on koi pond care & no luck, we looked on Yelp & came across Koi Shui Aquatics & Stefan. When he came to our house to assess our pond, he really seemed to understand our issues. He was patient, kind & very helpful, approaching the corrections we needed one step at a time. Eventually, he installed a new pond pump, new blue light, & slightly used filter to fully resolve all of our issues. He also added a knob on our water pipe we could turn to divert water from our long waterfall & save water from evaporation. (We can still turn the full waterfall on when we have guests. ) Richard & Janice Today, we are thrilled that our pond water is clear without using chemicals & we can watch the koi & goldfish happily swimming about. We wholeheartedly recommend Stefan & Koi Shui Aquatics above all others in this business in the Glendale/Crescenta Valley/Sunland-Tujunga area. PS: His prices are reasonable too! read more

I recently needed to find a more affordable pond company.. and I interviewed 3 different people. All over my budget and all not too friendly. Koi Shui was prompt. They were affordable. They didn't try to push me to be serviced multiple times a month. They planted fresh Lilly's and gorgeous pond plants and transformed my turtles habitat! I'm so happy. read more

Stephan was very responsive and knowledgeable. Glad to have found him when I did.

I've been using Koi Shui for about two years. My pond is a 3000 gallon cement pond with some gold fish. Stefan got the pond repaired and sealed and is now going to set up another pond for me which has been empty for some time. I have been satisfied with all his services regarding maintenance and repairs. Very friendly, courteous, and professional company to work with. Very reasonable price for my monthly service. It gives me peace of mind knowing that the pond is being well cared for. read more

Honest & Reasonable! We have a pond/water feature with koi fish which I thought needed maintenance and a repair. They were straight up with me, found that all I needed was a lift in the liner where the water was going over the edge and did not need any maintenance or repairs. Highly recommended! Thank you Koi Shui Aquatics, I will be using you for all my pond needs in future. read more

We recently purchased a home with a small pond in the backyard. The sellers told us that the pond took care of itself but I wanted to make sure that was the case, so I called Stefan at Koi Shui Aquatics. He came out and discovered that our filter was not working at all and the pond was in rough shape. He sent me a very reasonable quote to replace the filter and also gave me a price for monthly maintenance. Unfortunately, monthly maintenance wasn't in our budget and when I let him know this, he replied saying that he'd just teach us how to take care of it. That was clue number one that this guy was legit. He came out a few weeks later and replaced the filter quickly & efficiently. He then taught me how to take it apart, clean it and put it back together. He warned me to be patient as it's a little confusing the first time. I am the least handy person on the entire planet, so of course, I broke the filter when taking it apart. I searched the Internet high and low for a replacement part then sent Stefan a text to ask if he knew where we could buy it. He ended up searching his storage, found the spare part and dropped it off on our doorstep for free. FREE. That's unheard of now-a-days. I've texted Stefan several times after he installed the filter with questions and he was very quick to reply. He would ask me to send him photos of the parts I was asking about and always replied with very helpful tips. Koi Shui Aquatics is the Nordstrom of pond maintenance companies. We could not be happier. Thank you, Stefan!! read more

We just bought a house that came with a turtle pond (with three turtles) that was filthy and the water level was dropping fast. I usually wouldn't hire a company based on one Yelp review but after another pond company charged me for an estimate and then blew me off I was desperate. I contacted six more companies and two got back to me right away, one of them being Koi Shui (pronounced like Feng Shui). Stefan from Koi Shui was very responsive via e-mail and he and Antonio came over the next day for a free estimate. They were friendly and spent time answering my questions. They seemed genuinely interested in their work and seemed to enjoy analyzing the pond, deducing why it was designed the way it was and why part of it was in disrepair. It was like archaeology. Stefan located and showed me the leak pretty quickly but had me perform one more test that the previous company overlooked to rule out another possible source. He came up with a plan to get the pond back in shape in a way that minimized maintenance. He promptly sent me a detailed estimate which I approved. I chose Koi Shui over the other company that responded because it was just very obvious that Stefan is dedicated to customer service and his craft above and beyond the norm. The next week he and Antonio came back and drained and cleaned the pond, taking care to move the turtles to a safe area and showing concern for them. They sealed the leak and another hole that may or may not have been a leak just in case with epoxy. We had to wait 24 hours for it to dry but they filled the pond as high as possible so the turtles could be safe from predators for the night. Koi Shui moved our old, small pump to the second reservoir that had been totally still, got us a new, bigger pump with a UV light for the main reservoir to keep the water clear, and built the turtles a new basking platform. Stefan patiently showed me exactly how to take the filter apart and clean it. I had a ton of questions because I have no experience with ponds but he and Antonio were very patient about answering all of them. Also, Antonio is an expert on pond plants and was able to advise me on that subject. The previous company I dealt with was condescending about our pond and the way it was designed but Koi Shui took it on with a great attitude, like it was an interesting challenge to get it working again. I look forward to working with them on any of our future pond needs. I strongly recommend them for their extensive knowledge and great customer service. read more

Stephan was highly informed and detail oriented and had wonderful insight on my project. He was able to come in and consult on extremely short notice, despite a full schedule. His crew members are very talented as well, which accounts, in part, for their being so busy. read more

I highly recommend Koi Shui Aquatics. I had an old concrete koi pond with multiple leaks. Stefan went above and beyond to troubleshoot and ultimately fix my pond. Antonio was great. Generous with information and education. Professional and friendly. Recommend.

This company is the best in the city for building, fixing and maintaining koi ponds. I had another company initially expand a pond I inherited when I bought my home. 6 months later the pump died and they wouldn't repair it. I called several other local koi pond installers who took one look at it and said it couldn't be saved. Then I found Koi Shui, and with much patience and tenacity on their part, the koi pond is working beautifully, the koi are very healthy and happy. This company has high integrity and believes in having their customers satisfied. read more

Great to work with. Stefan was so helpful and nice..it was a breath of fresh air. All I needed was my pond & filter cleaned and a new pump. He introduced us to new energy efficient pumps and we were thrilled at how much we could save a month by these designs. The price I felt was very reasonable considering how much work they did and now my pond looks terrific. Stefan is friendly and does exactly what he promises. My husband wants to do the maintenance (which is what got us into this mess to begin with) but they will be who I will call when we're ready. read more

Stefan and Koi Shui are tops. If you are in need of help with your pond or are thinking of building one, look no more. We have a pond in our back yard that had been installed several years ago (by someone else). It always seems to be a challenge . We've had Antonio out to our property to fix our pond. He's professional, courteous, and worked within our budget. I'd recommend him in a minute. read more

I could easily save my time by simply saying " ditto to above".. I have had a KOI pond for 25 years +/-... Though I have never had real "problems" with my previous service I would have given tem 3 stars. Stephan and Antonio are REAL pros... They are never rushed and they do a great job.. My issue was a water loss in my pond... They would find a minor leak and seal it.... Then another.... then another... The previous service didn't find any of the small leaks.. WHOOPIE... The last leak was discovered and sealed a couple of days ago: I can use my skimmer again... WHOOPIE.. Thank you Stephan and Antonio........ Great work Peter R, La Canada read more

A year ago or so, we moved into a house in La Canada with a small (500-ish) gallon pond with a waterfall that runs down into it and a fountain in the middle. It was our first experience with a koi pond, and more to the point, with koi pond maintenance. Whoever built the pond installed a really nasty, jury-rigged pump solution that was a real pain in the a$$ to deal with. I'm talking about unscrewing multiple hose clamps underwater just to clean a filter. Anyway, I had enough after about a year and decided to find a way to simplify and improve the situation. I called four different companies and Stefan at KSA was the first and most communicative person to respond. Together we worked out a system that is WAY easier to deal with and flat out just works better. His prices for equipment and service are completely reasonable and he is pretty quick to respond, especially compared to the other guys out there. For me, the million-dollar question about any contractor or service provider is "Would I hire them again?" The answer for Stefan and Koi Shui Aquatics is "Absolutely." read more

Everyone should get a koi pond just for the pleasure of working with this company. Stefan is amazing! He is incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of pond management, from design and construction to maintenance and repair. He is thoughtful and thorough, really taking the time to listen, do the job right, and teach you what you need to know in order to ensure that your pond stays healthy. It is clear that he is passionate about his work and proud of what he does; this is not just a way for him to make money (and, in fact, he probably doesn't charge as much as he should or as often as he could for his superlative services). And as if that weren't enough, he is unfailingly polite and incredibly responsive. I can't recommend him enough! read more

I had a leak in my pond that was made worse by another pond repair guy who took lots of money and disappeared. Ironically, I found Stephan on a poor Yelp review from the other guy! Anyway, Stephan and Anotnio came out, explained everything to us and guaranteed their work. My project seemed a bit more difficult than what they first expected, But, they did not give up. We did have to attempt a different treatment that added some expense. These guys were so fair and so honest about it. I paid for materials, no markup, and a bit more labor. I think they cheated themselves! Full disclosure, the new approach was our choice, the guys were just plugging away. So, after 10 months, yup, 10 months our pond holds water. Our pond holds water at a level higher than when it was first built. Our pond became their personal challenge to get every pin hole leak. We are also having them replace the sand filter with Bio Balls and updating the pump from a pool pump to a more efficient pump. Now that the pond holds water, they aren't just leaving us high and dry. Stephan has assured me that the water will be changed and primed for koi. Speaking of Koi, they are also working with us and their wholesaler to restock our pond. On top of the business side, they are real easy to get along with. You cant help liking them. If I could give them 10 stars I would. 2/1/2016 Just have to say, I just got off the phone with Stephan and he totally put my crazy mind at ease. Every time I talk to him, I feel at ease and I always finish with smiling. I cant say enough how great these guys are. read more

My Koi were not eating, were listless and had whiteish skin. I called another company I had used before to come out first and they completely miss diagnosed the problem. They never took a water a sample and made a diagnosis by simply examining the Koi. They claimed they had a bacterial infection on the skin. They gave me an extreme remedy to follow. Since they neglected to do a water analysis I decided to get a second opinion and called Koi Shui. I am so glad I did. Stephan came out that same day and examined the Koi and did a water sample analysis. The Diagnosis was that the PH was much too low which made the Koi's sick and scales flake. He gave me a quick and simple remedy to follow and all the fish were swimming normally and back to eating the next day. I was Amazed. Their service and knowledge is tops. Highly recommended. read more

Anthony and Stephan were a God sent, truly. I had a lot of issues with my pond that required some serious time and effort. I went through several other pond companies who claimed to be very experienced and not one of them could figure out the problem and their attitudes about doing the work were atrocious. I was feeling almost hopeless about saving my whole pondscape and then came Koi Shui. It sounds almost cliche but so true. The guys came in, assessed, and as cool and calm as can be they happily accepted the job and already had ideas about the solution. I was beyond relieved. They figured out certain issues that no one else could. Yes my pondscape took a lot of thought, effort, work, and return trips but these guys were happy to do the job until everything was fixed. I paid them for a job and they were dedicated to the results I expected. Throughout their several trips here they were always friendly, helpful with advice, professional, and they demonstrated that they had the experience and expertise most of the other companies claim to have. They were also fair in their pricing and honest about everything going on. I am so thankful for these guys and appreciative of their work. read more
