Stefan took care of our small pond. He replaced the pump, saved the fish and cleaned up after the job was complete. The pond had been sorely neglected and was pretty dirty but it is now sparkling and clean. In addition he replaced the pump in a wall water feature, and then replaced a fountain that had been destroyed in the front. He was on time, reasonably priced and we highly recommend him. Koi Show Aquatics was referred to us by our contractor to handles the needed pump and filter equipment for our new water features for recent landscaped yard. Stefan recommended the size of all the needed equipment and did the installations for our 2 fountain pools with vertical spouts, both connect by a long rill. The result is just what we wanted. Stefan is truly an expert engineering the needs for our water features, was very patient and clearly explains what he was doing and answering all out questions along the construction process. When completed, I asked that a few items be added to allow wifi use as opposed to close range Bluetooth, as well as additional fountain spout spray design options. My husband & I have been struggling with our 2500 gallon koi & goldfish pond for 1 1/2 years. It became overgrown with lily roots & we had to clean it out completely & start all over with fresh water & one brave goldfish, who survived the lily infestation. (We named her Hope.) We recently purchased a home with a small pond in the backyard. The sellers told us that the pond took care of itself but I wanted to make sure that was the case, so I called Stefan at Koi Shui Aquatics. He came out and discovered that our filter was not working at all and the pond was in rough shape. He sent me a very reasonable quote to replace the filter and also gave me a price for monthly maintenance. Unfortunately, monthly maintenance wasn't in our budget and when I let him know this, he replied saying that he'd just teach us how to take care of it. That was clue number one that this guy was legit. He came out a few weeks later and replaced the filter quickly & efficiently. He then taught me how to take it apart, clean it and put it back together. He warned me to be patient as it's a little confusing the first time. I am the least handy person on the entire planet, so of course, I broke the filter when taking it apart. I searched the Internet high and low for a replacement part then sent Stefan a text to ask if he knew where we could buy it. He ended up searching his storage, found the spare part and dropped it off on our doorstep for free. FREE. That's unheard of now-a-days. I've texted Stefan several times after he installed the filter with questions and he was very quick to reply. We just bought a house that came with a turtle pond (with three turtles) that was filthy and the water level was dropping fast. I usually wouldn't hire a company based on one Yelp review but after another pond company charged me for an estimate and then blew me off I was desperate. I contacted six more companies and two got back to me right away, one of them being Koi Shui (pronounced like Feng Shui). Stefan from Koi Shui was very responsive via e-mail and he and Antonio came over the next day for a free estimate. They were friendly and spent time answering my questions. They seemed genuinely interested in their work and seemed to enjoy analyzing the pond, deducing why it was designed the way it was and why part of it was in disrepair. It was like archaeology. Stefan located and showed me the leak pretty quickly but had me perform one more test that the previous company overlooked to rule out another possible source. He came up with a plan to get the pond back in shape in a way that minimized maintenance. He promptly sent me a detailed estimate which I approved. I chose Koi Shui over the other company that responded because it was just very obvious that Stefan is dedicated to customer service and his craft above and beyond the norm. The next week he and Antonio came back and drained and cleaned the pond, taking care to move the turtles to a safe area and showing concern for them. They sealed the leak and another hole that may or may not have been a leak just in case with epoxy. We had to wait 24 hours for it to dry but they filled the pond as high as possible so the turtles could be safe from predators for the night. Koi Shui moved our old, small pump to the second reservoir that had been totally still, got us a new, bigger pump with a UV light for the main reservoir to keep the water clear, and built the turtles a new basking platform. Stefan patiently showed me exactly how to take the filter apart and clean it. I had a ton of questions because I have no experience with ponds but he and Antonio were very patient about answering all of them. Also, Antonio is an expert on pond plants and was able to advise me on that subject. The previous company I dealt with was condescending about our pond and the way it was designed but Koi Shui took it on with a great attitude, like it was an interesting challenge to get it working again. A year ago or so, we moved into a house in La Canada with a small (500-ish) gallon pond with a waterfall that runs down into it and a fountain in the middle. It was our first experience with a koi pond, and more to the point, with koi pond maintenance. Whoever built the pond installed a really nasty, jury-rigged pump solution that was a real pain in the a$$ to deal with. I'm talking about unscrewing multiple hose clamps underwater just to clean a filter. Anyway, I had enough after about a year and decided to find a way to simplify and improve the situation. I called four different companies and Stefan at KSA was the first and most communicative person to respond. Together we worked out a system that is WAY easier to deal with and flat out just works better. His prices for equipment and service are completely reasonable and he is pretty quick to respond, especially compared to the other guys out there. I had a leak in my pond that was made worse by another pond repair guy who took lots of money and disappeared. Ironically, I found Stephan on a poor Yelp review from the other guy! Anyway, Stephan and Anotnio came out, explained everything to us and guaranteed their work. My project seemed a bit more difficult than what they first expected, But, they did not give up. We did have to attempt a different treatment that added some expense. These guys were so fair and so honest about it. I paid for materials, no markup, and a bit more labor. I think they cheated themselves! Full disclosure, the new approach was our choice, the guys were just plugging away. So, after 10 months, yup, 10 months our pond holds water. Our pond holds water at a level higher than when it was first built. Our pond became their personal challenge to get every pin hole leak. We are also having them replace the sand filter with Bio Balls and updating the pump from a pool pump to a more efficient pump. Now that the pond holds water, they aren't just leaving us high and dry. Stephan has assured me that the water will be changed and primed for koi. Speaking of Koi, they are also working with us and their wholesaler to restock our pond. On top of the business side, they are real easy to get along with. You cant help liking them. If I could give them 10 stars I would. 2/1/2016 Just have to say, I just got off the phone with Stephan and he totally put my crazy mind at ease. My Koi were not eating, were listless and had whiteish skin. I called another company I had used before to come out first and they completely miss diagnosed the problem. They never took a water a sample and made a diagnosis by simply examining the Koi. They claimed they had a bacterial infection on the skin. They gave me an extreme remedy to follow. Since they neglected to do a water analysis I decided to get a second opinion and called Koi Shui. I am so glad I did. Stephan came out that same day and examined the Koi and did a water sample analysis. The Diagnosis was that the PH was much too low which made the Koi's sick and scales flake. He gave me a quick and simple remedy to follow and all the fish were swimming normally and back to eating the next day. I was Amazed. Their service and knowledge is tops.
