Lived at and apartment of Reed road for two years, and honestly I'm sad to go--just needed a change of scenery, nothing more. The place always felt comfy and homey, and the brick walls gave it a great aesthetic. Neighbors were quiet and pleasant for the most part, and a lot of them have been here for years (I could've easily stayed 5+ myself). I spoke with the Lady who manages the college properties, since I had applied. We spoke via telephone 7/9. I recorded the phone call, because what she was saying was so discriminatory and off. KRG does not want white people who are not college students renting their properties. I called and asked if she could reconsider my application to rent the apartment on Summit. She said a person just backed out on the apartment I had applied for and I was calling at the right time.I was denied due to being new to Ohio (not 6 months of job history, not being in the State 6 months) and I have "no rental history." She told me, previously I had to have a parent cosigner (their tennanat of 6 plus years was going to cosign and they said no before even looking at an application from him). They denied this. I asked her how my friend, who was from a different country and in the same situation as me (no rental history/no job in US for last 6 months) was able to rent, but I was being denied. She said something about a criteria being different for International students and then went on to explain refugee even have a different criteria to rent the same apartment. The rules and criteria here are different, for everyone.I said I have friends who are refugees and they don't even get work permits for 180 days, so you rent to them, but not me, who has a job in the U.S.? It is very clear this company only wants to rent to people they can take advantage of, like new college students, refugees, and international students. As a older, white, lady, I am aware of a few small laws about landlords/tenants/discrimination, so I understand, I may be seen as a liability to a company who wants to discriminate and take advantage of people to make profit. They are right, I probably would ask maintenance to fix things that need fixed and replace a carpet (my friends carpet is nasty and hasn't been replaced by them in 5 plus years he has rented with them). My friend was able to help other immigrants rent apartments at this property in the same way he wanted to help me. They denied his assistancefor me. Anyways, based on this conversation( I recorded it).was so blatantly discriminatory. I will probably file a complaint. Good luck with this place my friends, unless you are a college student or an immigrant who doesn't know their rights and can be taken advantage of, you can't rent here...and why would you want to. I rented through KRG last year at 2627 summer dr and I would NOT recommend renting through this company ever, I lived over in Dublin and they take forever to get back to you and I noticed after a few months that in the unfinished basement the FLOOR is painted on the cement and the tub in the upstairs bathroom was also painted in certain spots and this closet door we had fell apart because of how old it was and how it was poorly installed. Not only that but I noticed today after driving by it that the rent we paid went from $1,350 to $1,795 and when I saw the pictures on the website, it doesn't even look like they added anything to it. And when I dropped off the keys from the last day living there, I had called earlier that day if it would be okay if we dropped it off after office hours on a Friday because I was still working and the lady on the phone said it was fine and there wouldn't be problems but our landlord Susan said we got part of the deposit taken off because we turned it in "late" despite me calling ahead on Friday and dropping it off at the mailbox, we ended up getting it back, but it was such a headache that they tried to be sneaky and steal our deposit! read more

I am visiting this weekend. Furnace stopped working, no heat, woke up to 64 deg this morning. called the emergency number and as I type this they are fixing it on a Sunday. responded in 45 minutes. i had a furnace that was making boom sounds every time it kicked on and off and they tried to say it was just the air ducts. The thing was old and was costing 3 to 4 times what it should have. I had holes in screens they wouldn't repair so I couldn't leave the door open to get fresh air. The carpets the ran a steamer through and within the first week the dirt surfaced. These places need updated badly. Had a thermostat replaced and they said they couldn't match the paint so left the wall with an unpainted ring around the thermostat. I rented from KRG for over a year in a studio apartment near campus. The apartment had bugs of all types that became increasingly bad, and at one point, a hole opened in the wall leaving in a stream of flying ants/termites. While maintenance was quick to fix the hole, it took multiple follow ups for an exterminator to come out to the apartment a month later. The exterminator was no help, and I found out later after a friend who works on houses visited that the walls were softening due to moisture and water inside, and this led to the hole opening in the wall and it was likely the cause of the bugs. Other tenants that I spoke with had similar problems. Additionally, I had a parking pass with this landlord for the first year and it worked perfectly and there was always a spot available. The second year, I couldn't even get a spot where I wasn't blocked in or blocking someone else in because the landlord gave out too many parking passes and wasn't towing cars without passes. The landlord claims that they tow, but there were always cars parking in the lot without passes for days or even months at a time. The landlord's office also isn't open at 7am when I was blocked in before work two different times, which forced me to call off work. On top of all of this, I moved out in September 2020 because I needed a clean, bug-free apartment with reliable parking. I received my full security deposit back a month later, which was great. I moved out 5 days into the month, but I paid the full month's rent to avoid trouble and offered to work out the difference with the subleaser I found. KRG stated that this would be handled on their end, and they needed to clean the apartment first. It took them 2 weeks to clean the apartment. I asked about the month's refund in late October, and I find out KRG expected me to pay for the time it took them to clean the apartment (which neither me nor the subleaser requested) so they did not intend on refunding me for the full 25 days I wasn't living in the apartment. I called and emailed numerous times to get my refund for the full month's rent (minus 5 days) and I received no answer. Finally, I escalated it to their upper management that I found on their website, who promptly handled the refund. It took until late December for me to finally receive my rent payment back for a month that I didn't even have access to the apartment. I will say the apartments are decent if they were upkept better (hallways and stairwells were dirty at all times and never cleaned, in addition to the potential mold in the walls and the bug issues). And the maintenance worker was always quick, friendly, and did an excellent job. But overall, I would not rent from KRG again after dealing with bugs, awful parking, and arguing over a refund I was owed for months. read more

I've had several overall issues with KRG. When I first moved in, I did not receive my mail key, so I wasn't able to get in my mailbox. I also had water damage on my walls which they just covered up with paint. Of course, a few months in it started reappearing. I put in a request, and nothing was done about it the entire time I lived in my apartment. When I moved out, I left some cleaning supplies for their crew and actually had money taken out of my security deposit for "leaving items." Lastly, I had a package sent to my old address after moving out of the KRG apartment, and the manager would not send me the package. I even offered to pay for shipping costs. read more

These guys are great to rent from! During the course of 2 years that I was a tenant, they treated me with extreme respect and kindness. I even hit a rough patch during a few months of my stay and they were kind enough to be flexible with me until I got everything worked out. Nancy Mauger-Davis was the one in charge at the time and she was fantastic. Once I moved back to the area I tried to find another unit that they managed but did not have any luck. And now more than ever, I know how smoothly things ran under their management. I would definitely recommend them to anyone moving to the area. I rented a small studio from KRG for 3 semesters. I usually don't feel compelled to write reviews, but my experience was great with them. My first two semesters was spent in a garden level apartment and they let me move up two floors free of charge for my final semester. The studio was cheap, but clean and tidy. It was small, by efficiently laid out. The place even came furnished for less than 600/month right by Lane and Neil. My walk to class on North Campus was like 3 minutes. My only negative experience was when I moved up, my new apartment's stove didn't work and it took a few days to be replaced. However it is understandable given that the timing coincided with the reconditioning of all of their properties. The only other maintenance problem I had, a non working heater, was fixed same day. The head manager there works endlessly (like once I saw her in the hallways at 1030 pm sliding notices under doors) and I really appreciate it. She is also really great with not raising the rent for continued residents that much. I started paying 565/month and then 570 the last semester when new renters had to pay 600. The front office worker told me a guy has rented from them for 15 years and only pays 370 to stay in a great apartment in Clintonville. read more

Please take my advice and do *NOT* rent from them. They are the very definition of slumlords and they do not respond to requests. If you are vocal about your issues they will ignore you and then just force you to leave your rental. I had a hot water tank break and they left the old tank in my unit (next to the newer one) and I asked the property manager repeatedly to please have it removed. Every time I asked her she would say the handy man kept telling her he took care of it. After seven, yes, seven months, it was finally removed. Also, since the first week of living in my rental there has been a lady(and her husband) living three units down harassing me. I refer to her has Crazy Parking Lady. We only have one assigned parking space, a carport, and for some reason she seems to think a certain parking space belongs to her. I found this out when my mother was helping me move in. My mom had a car full of my belongings and when we finished unloading she walked to to her car to find it blocked in. I told her I thought maybe it was the couple on the end unit (445 Caldy Ct) and when she knocked on the door she the woman opened it and started screaming at her to never take her parking space again and then got in my moms face and called her several nasty names. I talked to the then on site property manager (Rosella) and she said I could park anywhere I'd like with the exception of someone else's carport. Out of simply wanting to keep the peace I avoided parking in that space. But this lady started to follow me and complain if I took any parking space. She started calling me names and her husband even knocked on my door asking me why I didn't use my carport. This went on for months until she tried to run me over in front of my children forcing me to call the police. I called management and said I was in fear for my safety and let them know about the constant harassment and name calling. I asked them if they could kindly speak with her or reissue a reminder of the parking rules. No one would help me. Fast forward to a few weeks ago she thought I stole her space and I heard her screaming every fowl word she could think of. She started pounding on my front door and ringing my doorbell repeatedly and was screaming I stole her space. I was afraid to answer and hoped she'd eventually leave but then my back patio gate flew open and her husband was on my porch and he started pounding on my sliding glass door and yelling. While his wife was screaming and pounding on my front door! I had no choice but to call the police. When I let the new property manager (Steve) know what happened, he failed to respond. A few days ago I received a notice stating that KRG is invoking their right to not renew my lease and I must vacate by 10/31/18. I have asked them why and they keep saying it's their legal right. I think they are punishing me for calling the police and also complaining about my living conditions. Not only did they fail to remove the hot water tank in a timely manner but my toilets are running, and my sinks and shower won't drain, AND they haven't replaced my furnace filter in TWO years.... read more

If you're looking for a realty company, stay away from this one. They are unresponsive, untimely, and not very friendly to their paying customers. I would send an email regarding a large sum of money and they would respond 2 weeks later. Even if you're busy, that honestly shouldn't matter when all the secretary does is sit at the desk. It doesn't take 2 weeks to respond to an email. Also, I had a carpet installed in the house I was renting that was literally brown with stains from dog poop and gum, and the woman who owns all the properties did not replace it, but instead replaced just my stairs carpet. When my ceiling started leaking, they took care of the issue promptly and courteously. They were also fantastic to work with when I finally bought a house and needed some flexibility with closing dates and move out dates. I have rented with them for over 2 years and it is time to go. They clearly are making as much as they can by maintaining only what they have to. There are always parking lot lights out, the exterior building door do not lock/always propped open, and when the building sewage line backed up they made minimal effort to clean the HUMAN WASTE that had flowed onto the floor. I would strongly advise anyone against renting from KRG. I lived in a KRG house for two years, but only because the rent was reasonable, and the house was actually owned by the religious organization I was apart of. If I had had another viable option for housing my second year living off campus, I would have taken it. No maintenance request was ever attended to in a timely manor (and sometimes never at all), and in order to get anything addressed, my roommates and I had to have our parents call the office (even though our names were on the lease). We lived without a working dishwasher for 6 months, because they never came out to fix it, even after we called over 4 different times. Not to mention that when our locks weren't working well consistently (because the door was too old and rotted), they didn't sent a locksmith out until 2 days after our request was submitted. And they never addressed the real problem with the locks, which was the door itself. The office staff was always short and rude with us whenever we called, and were incredibly inefficient with keeping track of paperwork (their filing system is horrid). I could go on and on, but the bottom line is: if you want a polite, reliable landlord who will address maintenance issues in a timely manor (particularly things like locks and faulty smoke alarms), DO NOT choose KRG. read more

After receiving my FULL security deposit back, yesterday, I felt that I should write this. It's crazy that it's such a rare occurrence, but despite having rented 12 apartments in the area, this is the first time it happened for me. Basically, if you are a good tenant, they are good to you! I only had a couple of maintenance issues and they were both taken care of in a timely manner. The apartment was in pretty bad shape from the previous tenant when I first saw it, but by the time I moved in, it looked great. The rent was very reasonable. I have rented from them for 2 years only because it was cheap and had free parking. The house is crap. Barely insulated, no ac and the window ac they provided us with are old and barely work. There were nails and paint clippings when we moved in and obvious signs of Raccoons in the attic. The basement looks like something out of a horror film. The old fire places cracked and filling is falling out. The gutter has been broken for about 8 months now. And to top it off I have an emotional support dog that they have been nothing less than discriminating against. The cherry on top though really is that I can move in to my next apartment 9 days early, thank you Pella, on August 1st and I asked for a ONE day extension of our move out date, July 31st, and they said no "sorry for the inconvenience" yea it is a HUGE inconvenience and for no reason. You're telling me that those 8 hours I am asleep before the morning of the 1st this company is going to begin doing repairs? I don't think so. Horrible service. Horrible non caring people.
