He usually manages his afib with acupuncture, but he hadn't had an episode while traveling before. After a few days of being unable to get out of afib, he decided to look for a local acupuncturist and found Dr. Robert Lenahan. Everything about the experience with Dr. Lenahan was excellent - the office staff is helpful and friendly, the rates are reasonable, and the facilities are clean and pleasant. Dr. Lenahan performed a pulse diagnosis, explained his findings, and provided insightful guidance and recommendations. My husband was able to get in for treatment two days in a row with no trouble, and on the second day, his afib resolved *during* the treatment. The combination of the confidence that comes with years of experience and Dr. Lenahan's kind and amiable bedside manner made us both feel that he was in the best possible hands. If he ever needs treatment again while visiting family in NJ, he will definitely go see Dr. Lenahan again.

Native American novelist Morning Dove once said the following:…read more"Everything on earth has a purpose, every disease a herb to cure it, and every person a mission. This is the Indian theory of existence." Sadly I have found there isn't a cure for every disease. We are still searching for answers, more research needs to be done, and many of us with misunderstood illnesses are left in search of a miracle. So what does this have to do with Acupuncture? Well, as someone with Chronic Neurological Lyme disease I was in search of something that could help me manage my symptoms. Acupuncture was a foreign concept to me. It seemed scary. It seemed fake. It is expensive if you don't have insurance. I, however, was desperate. So I did my research and decided to give acupuncture a try, but I wanted to make sure I was going to receive the best treatment. I've been going to Brielle Acupuncture Center now for over a year and I can say confidently that I made the right decision. Brielle Acupuncture is small. It's owned and operated by Rachel Taillacq. She's a certified acupuncturist, registered nurse, and Chinese herbalist. She is a master of her craft and an incredible human being. Christine, her receptionist, is a pleasure. She is organized, efficient, and incredibly friendly. The two are angels, if they do exist. I have so many great things to say about Brielle Acupuncture, so let me get to the highlights. First, it works. I go weekly and am treated for panic and anxiety and in recent months, dizziness. The acupuncture does not work right away. You need to give it at least a month. I have had only two panic attacks in one year, and they have been very MINOR in comparison to the ones I had before I started acupuncture. My anxiety is controlled. I attempted to "save" some money and stopped going for 3 weeks and BOOM my anxiety returned wth a vengeance. This was when I knew it was really helping me. I am on medical drugs for my anxiety but with Lyme Disease I am very prone to break through anxiety and panic. The acupuncture buffers it. I can live my life. The dizziness recently was a huge scare for me. Chronic Lyme because autoimmune, so since I've been undergoing so much stress with my schooling and career as of late, I crashed. My parents had to drive me to work for a while. Rachel, however, started treating me immediately. it's been about two months now. The dizziness is still there, but it's starting to fade. I report to Rachel on a weekly basis how I'm feeling and we move from there. I can now drive myself to work again. Rachel is the only acupuncturist at the center. Overall, her business is small. Four rooms total. The fact that it is owned and operated by Rachel and is on the smaller side is nice. Brielle Acupuncture Center feels like family. Christine, the receptionist, will become your best friend. I confide in her when I walk in the door. I tell Rachel my life problems before we begin my treatment. I feel safe here. Alternative medicine is known to be a mind and body experience. It is here at the center. I am healed in body and through conversation and the pleasant atmosphere. My insurance does not cover my treatments. I pay cash. Rachel will check to see if insurance does cover treatments (as it does for some plans). I, however, feel as though my money is well spent. Health is of the utmost importance. Yelpers, if you find ourself in need of something else... something to manage your pain or anxiety or need to find peace in this crazy world we live in, and have not found it, save yourself one meal, and try some alternative healing. Back pain, migraines, anxiety, insomnia, infertility, the list goes on. Try it. You won't regret it. and PS, Brielle Acupuncture is located in Spring Lake. The name just has not changed. Website is up to date though!
