I recently moved to a new vet that utilizes Koefran for cremation purposes. I received my pup's remains in a broken wooden box. Although the ashes were bagged, they were visibly falling out of the box. The glass presentation window only had a Koefran marketing card with no indication of my pet's name (a separate card was included). This is not my first loss and I was surprised by the shoddy product. Additionally, the "paw print" was not his paw, but a template paw. I will definitely use another service next time. When you lose a pet, that's hard enough, but you would expect the "handlers" to take good care and provide a positive and thoughtful experience for the client. read more

After experiencing several very unpleasant issues with Insight Veterinary Wellness Center in El Dorado Hills. Mainly dealing with incorrect information, and insensitivity after just losing a beloved one after 15 years was just too much. Luckily, I found the memorial card for my last pet, received from Koefran 4 years earlier, and gave them a call. This was the best thing during this whole process. Juan answered my call and really did a fantastic job in resolving all my issues. He was so wonderful and attentive. He was able to have my beloved pet picked up from a clinic that does not do business with Hoefran which was a great relief to me. Juan then guided me and helped with the final selection of the urn and engraving. He made a very unpleasant experience into a much better one. Also, KUDOS to the rest of the staff. All my interactions with Koefran were top-notch and professional with loving attitudes. A very special shout out to Austin AKA Smiley. He met me upon my arrival to give me my new urn and to help transfer my other pet's ashes into the new urn, so both are reunited together. I want to share how pleased I am with the customer service at Koefran, EVERY step of the way! Briefly, unfortunately we had our beloved German Shephard Kona euthanized at MarQueen in Roseville on a Monday. As difficult as it was for us, Ashley at MarQueen compassionately went over the final cremation details, but shortly later they were a blur. Shortly after arriving home, I called Koefran and spoke to Brianca. She went over many of the details I missed at the euthanasia. I explained that we would like Kona back ASAP (maybe Friday?) and Brianca stated this shouldn't be a problem. She said that Kona was scheduled for pick up Wednesday morning and assured me that Kona would be handled with respect. She then went over the timing of the pick up, the cremation, the cedar box engraving, and our hopeful pick up schedule. Following up Wednesday afternoon I spoke with Juan and he confirmed that they had Kona and confirmed she was scheduled for Thursday. Late Thursday afternoon I called again and spoke with Juan and he confirmed the procedure was completed and the spectacular (my description!) cedar box would be engraved in time for the Friday morning pick up. He asked me to call early Friday to make certain everything was completed and to schedule a pick up time. Friday I called and spoke with Brianca and she confirmed everything was completed and a pick up time was set. When we arrived at the pick up location, Martin was there ahead of time waiting for us! Martin verified Kona's identification number and respectfully handed her in a nice delivery bag. The engraving turned out spectacular-way beyond my expectations! EVERY step of the way, Brianca and Juan couldn't have been more understanding and professional. Koefran should be pleased with their customer service! They both answered the phone promptly and both were aware of our special requests. Who provides this type of customer service anymore? This showed me this company REALLY does care! I can't express our appreciation enough to everyone at Koefran. In our time of despair they couldn't do enough for us. EVERYTHING was done as promised and on time to get our girl home within the timetable we asked and they provided, with no excuses! I'm very pleased with this company. I was skeptical at first about cremating my fur baby. How was I to trust that I was getting the right ashes back? How do I know they care? But this baby is very special to me and i took a chance. I could have buried her but I wanted to keep her with me. The customer service was outstanding. It's just way too much to type.... They apparently lost my information, as when I called to find out where my horse's cremains were they put me on hold for a REALLY long time. When they came back to the phone they re-asked me all the same questions as they did they day I called to set up for their services. We had asked for a hoof print pendant be made. I then Found out they did a NOSE PRINT! Who does a nose print of a horse? I was told they do them all the time. THEN, when they received the pendant they texted me saying "Hi Judy! Here is the nose print pendant for Liz. We have never done an equine nose print before. I was a little scared but I think it turned out beautiful. What do you think?" Wait, what? Now they've never done a nose print of a horse? It looks like a mutilated manatee.... I requested a refund for my services, because, of course, they can't now get a hoof print, and was told that they would speak to the owner and call me back. Never heard a word. Great service. BEYOND LIVID. I took my ESA, Sephora, to Friends and a Family vet and within a week had to put her down unexpectedly. So if it wasn't enough I had to lose my baby, this stupid ass place FORGOT to do her paw imprint. FORGOT!! You forget to brush your teeth in the morning, you can do that later. I received my dogs paw print today from this company. I swear this is not my dogs paw print. My dog had severe allergies which caused me to pay a lot of attention to his paws, soaking them, washing them, spraying them with medication, drying in between his toes, checking them for fungal infection between his toes. I know what his paws looked like. Sorry to be morbid, but I even took into account the fact that these paw prints were done when he was deceased and probably frozen. (Sad). The quality of their urns is ABYSMAL compared to the companies I have done business with in the past. Don't waste your money on this low quality garbage unless you want to vacuum your best friend off the table. I received my boys ashes and noticed the paw print was not in the box so I notified my vet they in turn contacted Koefran. Koefran said they didn't make it. There was a hiccup or something with the order and it wasn't made. The ladies at the vet checked the order on their end and it showed that the paw print was indeed ordered. The paw print and ashes received were that of a much smaller dog (50% less on both accounts). Koefran tried to push it off as a Hospital mistake (mislabeling) of which it was not. I drove to Sacramento to show them evidence and, after a few months and a lot of leg work, they finally reimbursed my account. What left me speechless at our in-person meeting was, even though they admitted the print was "not that of a large breed dog", they still offered it to me. On another note, I have never experienced any other service that advertised to such an extent of which validates it is all about them and the almighty buck and unfortunately not what mattered most...our loved one. All I can suggest for those who may use them in the future is to ensure your vet only uses a metal tag. This review is to say that I am pleased with the customer service this pet cremation company gave me. I had my cat euthanized and the cremations service order done through a Animal Emergency in San Francisco. Since I have had many past pets cremated through Koefran, I knew that I was supposed to have the option to have my cat's urn engraved but the hospital did not give me this option. When I called Koefran, I spoke to Jessica and she stated that engraving was an additional charge. I told her I don't understand why as with all my other pets at other pet clinics, the engraving was included and I spent enough money on the cremation and the paw print I ordered on a ceramic plate. She stated she would ask the manager what they could do and get back to me. I called her back 5 days later and was upset I had not got a phone call. Despite me being agitated, rude and emotional, Jessica calmly explained that the manager was not there the original day I called and they were closed on weekends and the 4th day was a holiday and they were closed and thats why they had not gotten back to me yet. She did state the manager ok'd for my urn to be engraved at no charge. When I picked up my cat's remains at the hospital, the urn was not engraved and I was very upset. It hurt to think this was ignored. I called Koefran back and spoke with Jessica and she explained the oversight. They were shipping an empy urn with the message I wanted engraved and she stated she would call the hospital and asked them to call me once the engraved urn would arrive and ask them to assist me in transferring the remains to the engraved urn. This really showed me that this company does care. I went from tears to joy in them rectifying the situation at no additional charge. I just wanted to say that after my fur baby KikI had passed after 13 years of unconditional love I was completely distraught . I was in a state of shock and I just could not stand all the the bad thoughts of having to burying my pretty little kitty in the cold ground never to see her again , I went back and forth with the option of cremation but had heard and read some pretty scary story's only about places not doing what they were suppose to so I just didn't know what to do . I really wanted to cremate her and have a nice urn that I could take with me in case I ever needed to move , however I was worried about the horror stories I had heard. My husband and I were getting ready to bury her in our yard when I just couldn't do it ... I contacted my vet and asked them if they do cremation , they referred me to Koefran and were so helpful in answering all my questions , said they had done business with them for 20 years and even use them for their own personal pets... Anna the lady I spoke with was so nice and said she had nothing but the utmost confidence in their services. I trusted her instincts and she helped me set up the service for Kiki . Anna had given me a phone number to contact koefran services for me to ask any questions I may need to in order to help put me at ease. I contacted Koefran and Stan called me back , He was so nice and professional he talked and walked me through the entire process to help put me at ease... He also sent me a respectable email photo of my baby girl so I could identify her and would know that I was getting her remains. Now I know they handle a large amount of these cases but he was still very personal from start to finish and I really appreciate that . We just received our family member a 15 year old Lab, back from the service performed by Koefran in Sacramento. Our thanks goes out to them for a speedy and well handled and presented service. I asked three vets up in the Auburn, Placer county area and they all said very nice remarks about them plus they had long term relations with their services. We confirm that we received our loving dog back in a very nice packaged Urn with a place to insert a picture. The Urn was packaged in a white display box with one simple label outside. I thank them for their fast and I think reasonable priced professional services. We had made arrangements three weeks before hand so we knew what to expect as our lab was very sick. Koefran Services is not only a cremation company for pets, but also a part of the Sacramento Rendering Company. The ladies who answer the phones are not very friendly or helpfull. I also find it wierd that they would list their address as 6040 Eagle Nest road when it is not. The address listed is actually a pet cemetary and the actual company is located at 11350 Kiefer Blvd in Sacramento. It is not open to the public and even when I picked up my pets ashes, the manager (Stan) said he would need to meet me at a different location. The website for Koefran sais NOTHING about it being associated with the Sacramento Rendering Company which is questionable. I highly recommend using another company for your pets cremation services. Koefran keeps much of its information private and has been linked to questionable practices with deceased pets and the pet food industry. For those looking for a company to cremate your pet, look for a place that is trust worthy and offers cremation viewing. I hope vet clinics and hospitals stop using Koefran Services. To them it is a job, but our pets mean a lot to us. read more
