ASSAULT OF CHILDREN AT BRIGHTPATH BARRIE DAYCARE…read more At BRIGHTPATH KIDS daycare, located at 133 Mapleview Drive W in Barrie, my daughter endured unimaginable mistreatment. She was sprayed in the face multiple times with a spray bottle containing a chemical cleaning solution made of soap and bleach-meant to disinfect surfaces, not to be used on a childs face when "mis behaving". She was also assaulted when the same daycare worker pinched her in the mouth. These incidents were investigated by Children's Aid, the Ministry of Education, and the Barrie Police. The findings confirmed that this individual intentionally caused harm and placed my daughter at significant risk of injury. It was also confirmed that other staff members witnessed these events and failed to report them. It was also identified that these actions were also performed on other children not just mine. Despite these serious findings, BrightPath Kids chose to continue employing this individual, claiming that additional training was a more appropriate response due to their tenure with the company. Barrie Police issued only a caution for assault with a weapon, and no formal charges have been laid to date. As a parent, I am heartbroken and outraged. I trusted this centre with my child's safety and care, and instead, she suffered trauma and harm at the hands of those responsible for protecting her. I am speaking out because parents deserve transparency. Our community deserves to know when a childcare facility fails to uphold its duty to protect the most vulnerable. I have begun the process of civil action and will not stay silent while those responsible avoid accountability. Please share this message with whoever you can including tagging media to help bring awareness to this issue. Every child deserves a safe, nurturing environment, and those who harm children must be held accountable-without exception

Over the last year I returned to work full-time and they have been attending the daycare on regular basis. I am an RN, whom like many others, work shift work. I actually don't know if I would've been able to return to work full-time if it wasn't for Little Start. Their extended and flexible hours are ideal for shift workers, allowing me to schedule my boys in online based on my fluctuating schedule well in advance. Furthermore, they have been phenomenal when it has come to my children's severe allergies and asthma. They are very diligent with ensuring the epi-pens are not expired, calling me a few weeks before to allow me to get new ones. I even got a call a few weeks back to let me know one of their ventolin puffers was feeling light and that it may need to be replaced soon. They also make all the food there, healthy and guaranteed nut/allergen free, which is a huge piece of mind. If that's not enough, there is the plain fact that my boys love it. Most days now I'm lucky if I get a hug goodbye because they are just so excited to get in there. When I drop them off at 6am there is already educational activities and crafts out on the table and the boys just dive right in. The other day was a rare occasion where I got to pick them up and I saw both boys running around with 4 or 5 other kids laughing and interacting and genuinely enjoying themselves. The staff are lovely and the boys are always happy to see them. I feel like you can't ask for much more when looking for childcare.

WeeWatch made the transition flawless. Our provider Sherri is incredible. She makes sure Leni is taken care of just like she's her own daughter. Leni loves going to Sherri's and flies into her arms in the mornings, and is in no hurry to leave at the end of the day. Finding a provider who care the way Sherri does is a huge weight lifted off our shoulders. Thank you Sherri & WeeWatch for the care, communication, and dedication you all have for the children and families. I can't say enough about you!

This was stressful and inconvenient as a single parent. The quality of care was lacking. My child was monitored opposed to engaged with meaningful child care. She was walked home from school by the Provider and often left so far behind that it looked like she was walking on her own (she is 4 years old) as I found out from friends who noticed this as they drove by my child, and I witnessed on my own as I picked up my child early one day. The television was on the entire time my child was in care (approximately four hours) and also during dinner time. My child did not eat her dinner a few nights (pick up time was around 7 pm) and was not supported to eat something, nor was the television turned off during this time (very distracting for a 4 year old who is supposed to be focused on eating). The child care provider was not very receptive to my concerns or feedback. When addressed by Wee Watch staff, she sent me a text about giving me 2 weeks notice and declared that I was having her stocked (very irrational conclusion here). After addressing my experience and concerns with Wee Watch, they were not willing to negotiate the 2 week notice pay I had to provide (even though the provider gave notice and the experience we had was not one of quality care and my child's safety was disregarded numerous times with being left behind too far during walking time). Wee Watch claimed there were no policies broken, so the full 2 extra weeks of child care pay would have to be made on my end. I communicated how I understood something should be paid, however I was hoping to negotiate by covering one week opposed to two. Not negotiating this payment on Wee Watch's behalf made it very difficult for me to afford new child care that I needed right away, as I ended up pulling my child from Wee Watch care after I received the concerning text from my Provider due to the outcome of being addressed by her supervisor. This was a very disappointing experience overall, especially as Wee Watch highly recommended this provider.

Dawn is an absolutely terrible person, principal and business owner. The well being of the kids means nothing to her compared to the money she makes off them. She's deceptive and an example of that is accepting enrolment and then changing the class dynamics, size and teaching plan without informing parents but she's already been paid so now you're stuck there unless you want to be out the $1300+ a month you've already paid. Her communication is terrible. Her conflict resolution abilities are non existent. And to top it all off her son is a "teacher" there and he has no business doing so. Avoid this "school" at all costs. There are so many better options. Don't be fooled by her shining personality when you meet her. She's a snake in disguise.

This school was dreadful! I had both my children here for a time, and it deteriorated considerably…read moreover the years that they were there. The owner is absolutely horrible to deal with, and has to be one of the most money-motivated, nickel-and-diming people I have ever come across. The staff turnover there is constant, and one look at employee reviews on Indeed will help you understand why. The school is horrible for favouritism and the exclusion of various students. We had various situations that required meetings with the owner and teachers, none of which were ever really resolved; no responsibility on the side of the school was ever taken, and the same problems persisted. The school prides itself on preaching kindness, inclusivity and positivity, but the actions towards the students and some of the staff tell a far different story. The social aspect of the school is a major problem as well, with kids from Gr. 4 to 8 in the same class and working with the same teachers at the same time. Upper grades like 7,8 have very small groups of students in them, and the social environment that children need at that age does not exist whatsoever. The school also makes drastic changes from year to year without informing parents, sometimes leaving them unaware of the makeup of class days before school begins in September. Lastly, the likelihood of ever getting a straight or honest answer from the owner is slim to none. I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone, and my children are far better off mentally, emotionally, and socially in their new schools.
