The short review: From the very first phone call to the finished roof, Kyle, the crew, and everyone at Knox Roofing were some of the most professional people in the contract/building industry I have ever dealt with. I rarely write reviews but this company deserves a lot praise and I would 100% recommend Knox if you are looking to get work done on your roof.
The long review--My place is in the forest in Washago and there are lots of moss and leaves/pine needles that tend to damage roofs around here. I had four quotes and ultimately went with Knox for the following reasons:
Communication: Kyle and everyone at Knox were professional right from the start. Kyle was straight up in his assessment and let me know exactly what to expect. He was exactly right when he predicted where I might find some rotting boards under my shingles. Kyle was also generous with his time when bringing colour samples and recommending options for roof venting, as well as answering all of my questions about how they would proceed. It was also rainy this summer and there were a number of weather delays. I always received a text or a call letting me know how the weather would affect the roofing date.
Price: I have a mid-size roof, shed, and pump house roof that needed to be re-shingled. Knox was a little over two of my quotes but was under another and I felt the quote was fair. I was very stressed about having to pay for this expense but in the end, I chose to spend a little more to go with Knox as I just had a good feeling right from the moment I spoke with Kyle on the phone and when he pulled into my driveway the first time. Kyle was straightforward in his quote and let me know the good, the bad, and the ugly with my roof. One thing worth noting--Kyle recommended larger and more expensive vents. I was wondering at first if this was just an upsell but after seeing the final work and going up into the attic, I am really glad to have spent the extra here.
The day of: The Knox crew showed up on time and immediately went to work. I was continually kept up to date with areas of concern as parts of my roof were rotted and replacement boards below the shingles were needed. The crew was fast and efficient and all of them were personable and answered all of my questions. Every single one of them were personable and I appreciated their professionalism. It's tough to describe but it was very easy to tell how experienced this crew was. I was really impressed with the efficiency of how they worked.
Final Work: First off, you would never know a roofing company had been on my property. The roof looks great and I'm so happy with the final result but for the short term, what I'm really impressed by is that I haven't found a single nail or piece of debris from the job. The lawn, gardens, and property look exactly as they did before the crew showed up. As for the roof, I watched them put in all of the ice shield, flashing, and drip stop, etc. and I was impressed with the care they took to make everything as perfect as possible. I have been up on the roof to clean my chimney and inspect the final work. The new vents, the roof cap, and just the clean-cut lines on the edges and around the flashing are a perfectionist's dream! Zero complaints! A++ work and much of the stress of paying for a major home expense has been taken off.
To sum up, many of us are feeling a pinch right now with rising costs and I put off having my roof done for that reason. I couldn't put it off any longer without major damage to my house. One of the reasons I am writing a novel for a review is because this company seemed to understand my stress about such a major expense and in the end, I feel so much better when I pull in my driveway and see the amazing job they did. The new roof is important but for me, I was also about choosing a company that I trusted. I don't have a single issue or regret that I chose Knox. Kyle, if you are reading this, please feel free to pass on my number to anyone looking for a reference. I would be more than happy to provide a referral for you and your crew any day. Chris read more
