After spending a morning hunting fossils at a nearby (tourist trap) attraction, we were hungry for some good eats. Knotty Pine sounded like a cool,place to try and they brought the goods! The interior is not classy or "upscale," but it is clean, comfortable and welcoming. It's a seat-yourself kind of place, so it was a moment before we were handed menus and asked for drink orders. Then it was a rather lengthy wait before our orders were taken. However, it didn't take that long for the food to arrive and, I will say this, it was definitely worth the wait. I ordered the Crispy Dill Chicken Sandwich with tater tots. It arrived piping hot and oh-so-good. The fried chicken sandwich was indeed crispy, VERY flavorful with three crisp pickle slices in there. The chicken itself tasted like it was brined in pickle juice as well. If you like pickles, you'll love this sandwich. It was excellent! The tater tots .... well, how can you screw that up?? They were hot, tasty and plentiful. Now, while initially a little slow, the service is friendly and attentive. My iced tea was refilled without even getting halfway down. Prices were reasonable. We look forward to stopping again when we pass through Republic (and skip the local hustle). read more

Fairly typical diner. Staff is always upbeat, polite and welcoming. My main go-to is chicken fried steak and eggs with white gravy. They got this down. Quality and quantity. They also do a great taco salad and Reuben. Have only had a handful of other entrees and was never disappointed. Service is usually very quick and always accurate. Very relaxing atmosphere. An institution with a nice prime rib special on Friday I think. Wouldn't do the clam chowder however. read more

The restaurant is great on the inside it isn't cramped up. The wait staff were great. Took no time to get a table and get our order in. There were several tables with people and we still didn't have to wait long for the food. Took our family of 5 to eat there today around 1:30pm and it was fantastic. I ordered breakfast 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 pancakes. Everything was cooked exactly right. My husband got a bacon cheeseburger, kids got two plain cheeseburgers with just cheese with sides of fries and fruit cup. My other kid got a mushroom Swiss burger with a side of fried mushrooms. Everything was so good that we saved one pie we for each of us to try everything. We will absolve stopping back in anytime we're in the area. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Great large menu and cozy bar in the back ! I had a Rueben with salad with honey mustard dressing and my mom a small burger. We really liked the food service was fast and we shared the other half of the Rueben and ate three hours later, was perfect tasting ! What a great little stop in Republic. It has the appearance on the outside of possibly being a dive bar but in reality there is a nice restaurant area in the front of the building. There is also a bar and large that goes with it, but in the back part of the building. We stopped in to cool off from a hot day on the cycles and grab a cold drink and appetizers. They iced tea hit the spot and the apps were very good. The mozzarella sticks were actually better than most, mushroom app was tasty, and the chips and dip was excellent. Our server was very friendly and kept the drinks full. One of the big bonuses is that the restaurant area was clean. Something we always appreciate. Another table had the nachos and they looked awesome, so we'll be back to try those. read more

Super Bowl Sunday,2023. We came in for an early Valentines dinner since I will be out of town on the day. Our waitress (didn't catch her name) was AH mazing! We both ordered the rib steak dinner which was around $27. The potato was loaded and yummy! The asparagus was cooked the way I like it but was 100% plain. We both ordered our steaks medium rare. My husbands was just about right and mine was "murdered". It was dry and had very little pink left. We had Black Forest cake for desert and it was really good. All in all, the atmosphere was comfortable and our waitress was awesome! I wish I had her name. (Early 20's? with long dark hair.) We will probably try the place again someday. read more

We have always loved this place for breakfast! The omelettes are amazing! For lunch and dinner we have not had as much luck, but the staff is awesome and it's a local gathering spot. You gotta go if you are in town. Breakfast is served all day, try the grilled sourdough toast...yum! read more

THIS PLACE IS FOR SALE! If you buy it... get a real chef! We've been here twice prior to this visit. Today, our 3rd visit, proved to be the end of our visits to this place. Daughters chicken fried steak served cold... the entire plate was cold. The gravy was very dark brown and cold... never had that on a chicken fried steak before. On top of that the "baked potatoe" wasn't baked at all, it was zapped in the microwave. Microwaved potatoes have a completely different texture than baked potatoes. Wife's omelette was extremely dry and lousy taste. My ribeye steak, ordered medium rare, was cooked from frozen... which ended up being medium well on edges... and raw throughout the center. Not rare... raw! Made great dog food! This is coming from a family that cooks a lot at home...and has the traveled across the United States. My meat was cooked just the way I like it, medium rare. I think the part I liked most about this place was the small town feel. Ate there on Mother's Day 2023. Absolutely horrible takeout. Food was horribly bad and expensive. Asked the "hostess" for ketchup when we placed the order. Gave her a very generous tip when we picked up the order only to find there was no ketchup when we got back. Had to go back and ask for ketchup and I was treated as an inconvenience. Then asked for an extra side of ranch which she wanted an extra $.50. Really? After a 35% tip and having to walk all the way back for the ketchup? Then our kids wouldn't even eat the stale tator tots or horribly overcooked chicken wings. Then my wife felt sick after eating the trashy Reuben. Our only regret is ever eating here and paying for such horrible food and service. Never again! Go elsewhere or cook at home. read more

I had dinner there on Sunday. Ordered a pork chop, medium rare. I got a breakfast chop, maybe 4 oz...well done and a warm baked potato. I ate half. So I figured I would give them a chance and had breakfast before I left town. Ordered a veggie omelet. The waitress asked how my meal was and I said the omelet was OK. She said its the hash browns isn't it. I said yes, they were awful overcooked completely crispy. I over heard her talking to the chef telling them that we have to do something about the hash browns, we are getting too many complaints. My question is why serve them if you know they are bad!!! I've lived all over the US. The Southeast, mid-atlantic, the west coast and I grew up out in the country. This was the best Chicken Fried Steak and sausage gravy I've ever had (the portion size is massive for how much you pay). Absolutely loved this place. This restaurant stayed open later than the others in Republic so we stopped in. Anna, our waitress, was there to greet us and her service was superb the entire time. She met the kids every need and did it with a smile on her face. The food came fast which was perfect because we were starving. I couldn't believe the portion sizes! They were huge, we all had leftovers to take home. Biggest chicken fried steak I've ever seen. It didn't disappoint and neither did the hash browns. I also sampled the nachos and chicken wings. They both were exactly what you should expect. Greasy, incredibly tasty food. But the true star was my double cheeseburger. Best darn cheeseburger I've ever had. Honestly! Really mixed experience here. Their portions are huge, good, tasty food. We got the Denver Omelet, Veggie Omelet, French Dip, and Pancakes. All were pretty good, and enough for almost two servings each! The restaurant is very small and quaint. Our biggest issue was the blonde waitress. A few minutes after taking our order, she ran up to the table, demanding to know if we wanted sausage link or sausage patty. We asked, for which meal? And she frustratingly muttered "I don't remember". She basically started clapping her hands on her thighs and said "I need to know now. Can you just tell me sausage or patty". For whatever reason she was in a ridiculous rush and demanding a response even though we had no idea what she was talking about. Then, the chef yells from behind the counter " it's Table 1!" And she stormed off without saying a word, and went to question the other table. Never apologized. It was SO weird and inappropriate. I don't know if she felt uncomfortable or what, because we didn't see her after that. A different waitress took our table from then on. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend this place. We were in town for just one night and decided to have breakfast before heading out on the road. This is apparently the only place in town on a Sunday serving breakfast. It may have been our only option but it was actually really good. Location is conveniently on the main street and the atmosphere is quaint and full of locals. Five of us travelled to Republic to visit this small town. Had never stopped here before. We were looking for a place for lunch and found the Knotty Pine. We were seated quickly. The waitress (Molly) was outstanding! Fast, efficient, and attentive but not obtrusive. We ordered (four cheeseburgers and a Philly cheesesteak). Food was delivered quickly, hot and tasty. Large portions. I had to get a to-go box as I couldn't finish it all. The only suggestion on the Philly would be to cut the meat a little bit thinner (all the meats looked like they were cut to order). Other staff in the restaurant were equally friendly. Going to Republic? Definitely check this place out. I don't think you'll be disappointed. We weren't! read more
