It's rare you come away from a comedy night thinking I've never seen anything like that before and with well over a hundred comedy clubs a week running in London nowadays, that can only be a good thing. read more

Latimer Road is a good 15 minutes' walk from the station named after this unassuming street but the trip is well worth it. Once inside you forget that the Playground Theatre is located in a rather ugly one-storey warehouse - actually, apparently it used to be a bus depot if I remember correctly from the crowdfunding campaign that helped make this project become reality. Proper grassroots! I finally got a chance to see a play here and was blown away 'Picasso', the quality of the production, set design, acting, you name it - this is not your average fringe theatre but West End calibre brought to the Wild West! And I love the way your visit is turned into one coherent experience, with a rather good art exhibition on display in the super cosy bar serving a selection of tapas and lovely Spanish wine. ... the cafe alone is a visit in its own right and it was buzzing with locals on my most recent visit - yummy cakes and strong coffee. Definitely worth the trek if you are not lucky enough to live around the corner - already looking forward to their next production of 'The Little Prince'.

One person (who failed to display the SIA badge - a criminal offense) was extremely confrontational, and at at the end of the evening approached me told me he had "won" because he made me leave my bag outside the venue. Don't waste your time going here because it's a coin toss to see who is on the door and if they are in a mood they won't let you in.

The Barbara Speake Stage school has been an important part of my life I learnt a lot and made some…read moregreat and lifelong friends and when I had my daughter I always wanted her to attend. The website says The strength of the school is in its friendly atmosphere, traditional qualities and caring, committed staff which is true except that doesn't count for Miss Speake, Today she sent me an e mail telling me my 6 year old is basically expelled and when confronted she admitted it was because of me her mother, she said she warned me and we had several meetings which I am totally unaware of as I was never told or was in them We did have one meeting on Wednesday and it was to tell miss speake I had withdrawn Isabella from the agency as I didn't trust the agent and I felt it was a curtesy but not at any point was there any talk of Isabella leaving the school.( but that's for another time) instead of talking to me she goes behind my back makes accusations and assumptions calls me 2 faced etc.... Yes I talk with mothers outside the school who doesn't however that doesn't mean we are talking about her, personally I feel she is paranoid and has a guilty conscience.People who know me and my daughter should know I only want everyone happy I don't talk about people behind there backs and if I have issues I will address them. I admit people came to me regarding the school but I always said 2 sides to every story and go talk to both parties. Being an independent school means she has every right to do this I am sure miss speake and her supporters will be ready to stick the knife in and play the old lady card however the bottom line is she is making my innocent 6 year old daughter suffer for a grudge she has against me. Is this fair or even morally or ethically correct??? Bella is heartbroken she loved the school and loved her friend she dosnt understand and to make things worse she is not only expelled she is no longer welcomeon school premises which means she cant even attend gymnastis which she loves and is open to the public On the other side of all this she has expelled me after 20 years

I can also confirm my ridiculously long legs found themselves with ample legroom. We went to see the very cleverly written 'Montagu', a tale of political dysfunction told by donkeys (trust me it works!). I was already charmed by the place but they even gave out free glasses of wine before the performance, I'd guess because it was press night?! The only reason the venue misses 5-stars is because it got so swelteringly hot inside during the play, so not sure if the air con was on the blink that night. Otherwise it's a really charming local venue and I wish there were more like it.
