In August 2020, we hired KNK to do landscaping in our yard, replace a brick walkway, cut down some small trees/bushes, and replace our wooden deck with Trex. The reason this review is two stars is that the landscaping and walkway came out lovely. Unfortunately, the deck began to fall apart by November 2020. Boards were hanging off the side, boards were cracking, boards on top of the deck were sinking, steps were wobbling. Contacting KnK was absolutely fruitless - I tried phone, email, even Facebook Messenger. I did get an email from someone claiming to be the Account Assistant Manager, who wanted to "make things right". When I did call him, he asked me what sort of estimate I wanted. When I explained I did not want an estimate, he mysteriously became impossible to contact. Several weeks after contacting them, someone came back to hit a few boards with a hammer. After contacting them again, several weeks passed when someone stopped by, and said he would take one board to measure and cut, and would replace the broken boards. He came while we were at work to replace the one board he took and left the rest. We ended up interviewing 3 different contractors to fix the mess that KnK made. All 3 of them told us it looked like something we tried to do ourselves. Even worse, when the Trex was removed as it had to be re-cut and replaced, our new contractor found rotted beams and Trex pieces holding up bricks and concrete blocks under the deck - so unsafe! I sent KnK a certified letter including pictures of the mess they made, asking them to replace the labor fee for the deck (it cost us 4 times that amount to actually fix the deck) and they simply ignored me. The BBB stated that they won't handle purchases over 1 year old so I was unable to leave a review there like I had hoped. Just hoping that this review saves someone else the headache. It's too bad as the landscaping and brick work turned out really nicely, but I can't recommend this company just due to their customer service. read more

I've had KnK do our spring and fall clean-ups for the past several years. Mostly removal of fallen branches, leaves, pine needles, trimming back of overgrowth, mulching the flower beds, edging, etc. They've always done a very nice job for us, at a reasonable cost. It's the reason I've been asking them back every year. Other reviews have mentioned that they're not great at phone communication and follow-up, and I've also found this to be true. However, I've found them very responsive over email. So that's how I've been communicating with them for the past couple of years, and I've been happy. I recommend these guys for general landscaping, lawn maintenance, and clean-up work. read more

Hired to level a yard and fix drainage issues. Was told a full replacement of lawn would happen. They just threw dirt all over the place and then left. Even the workers were saying how bad the owner is with doing work and handling things. This place is a scam... wouldn't hire them to do any level of work. I cannot say enough great things about KNK. I was literally STRANDED by my prior plow company this winter. KNK not only came through in a pinch, but the clean up was more remarkable than any I have ever experienced. I have a very difficult access to my driveway, yet they not only managed to work around it - but they have even used some shifty plow work to literally make the driveway more accessible in the winter. One of the worst experiences ever. Highly do not recommend. The previous negative reviews sum up my displeasure, but I figured I would add my personal touch. (I essentially am paraphrasing the email I sent) Took forever to communicate and get a quote about reseeding the lawn. When we finally got everything squared away, they finally came with all of the heavy equipment. That was when the real issues began. Part of the reason we wanted the lawn to get reseeded was because the weeds, crab grass, and empty patches of grass decided it was time. The dirt/soil had not been screened before they laid it down. That mean that we had a full lawn full of plastic, including a piece of a car light, and best of all, pieces of glass. They also left all of the crab grass that they were supposed to get rid of. When we inquired why it was still there, one of the workers said that they do not handle the crab grass. It was near impossible to get a response on why they did not do that. Notice how the most recent reviews have been the worst compared to when the company first started. It appears that this company has lost commitment to their craft. p.s. Notice how Kevin, the owner, thought that every bad review was funny (also check out Karen S review) . He does not seem interested in determining the problem and trying to fix it. read more

Yard work was good but then they left all the leaves and debris in a huge pile at the front of my house. They left it blocking the sidewalk and spilling into the street. After 5 days and repeated calls to the company, with promises of removing the debris, it is still blocking the sidewalk. Needless to say my neighbors are not happy. Then they have the audacity to stick their co. Sign in front of it so that everyone in the neighborhood knows not to hire them. Bad business managment. read more

KNK services the landscaping and snow removal needs for the condo community I live in. Snow removal: -There were two occasions they did not come to my building in the complex at all after a storm that dumped over 6 inches. Instead, they spent their time shoveling out obviously unfinished/unoccupied buildings while actual residents in finished units had to resort to digging themselves out. When residents mentioned this to the on-site crew, the crew decided to have a screaming match among themselves. The problem of no-showing did improve as the winter season progressed though and by the end of Winter 2018 they were coming to each unit consistently and early. They did a decent job. -KNK damaged my stone walkway doing snow removal this past winter. Accidents happen, but it still hasn't been fixed. Landscaping: -They planted hydroseed the first time too late in the season (Oct/Nov) and on unprepared land. There was no topsoil or loam. Guess what? The seed never took, so it was a waste of time and money. -The second time they planted seed, they did not put down any topsoil and they only removed about 10% of the rocks in my yard. My yard was at least 80% rocks and 20% dirt to start off. Guess what? The yard that resulted is extremely patchy and my yard is 95% weeds and 5% grass- in the patches that aren't rocks, of course. What a waste of my money. -They placed sod in my front yard and it turned out great, except they left a big edge/border without anything between the yard and sidewalk. They tried to seed that edge but it hasn't taken yet. I hope to see a solution soon. -The landscaping around the entrance of my community is just ok. Nothing special and certainly nothing with a ton of curb appeal. KNK has the nerve to use my condo community in their new commercial. Guess what? Only one or two buildings actually look like that... What a freakin' punch in the stomach to see KNK recruiting customers and potentially profiting off of my condo community when hardworking people like myself can't get landscaping of similar quality in the same condo community. I will say, my condo community is still being built, and the builder and/or HOA could be directing KNK to cut corners or make these poor decisions- I really have no idea. The owner of KNK has been making the rounds to residents with a sob story about how the ugly landscaping isn't his fault and he's been blaming the HOA and other contractors on site. I don't want to hear it. He can go cry to the bank teller as he cashes the checks I write. Or, he can salvage his reputation and end his contract at my condo community if he doesn't like not having control over the landscaping decisions. Right now, nobody that I know in my large condo community is happy with KNK. All I know is, I'm ready to get a quality yard for the money I'm paying. read more

I contacted this company on January 30th about the possibility of obtaining their help for snow removal. After a few back and forth messages from them we were able to determine that they had availability in my area. I then informed them that I would like to get a quotation for snow removal. Unfortunately as of 7 days later of our initial back and forth I have not heard from them. I can't say that I completely trust them at this point if they can't provide me a simple quote within a reasonable time period. read more

I hired KnK Landscape to plow snow from my front walkway and from my driveway for a 2 family home in Norwood, MA. They did a very good job and I really can't say enough about their office staff. There were some very large storms last year - KnK came on time with every storm and handled the plowing of a difficult driveway and stacking the snow away from several parked cars with patience and professionalism. Can't say enough about them. Its not easy to find a snow plow company that comes on time and does a good job let alone one that is courteous, answers the phone each time you call and is helpful. I hired KnK last summer to install a new paver patio. Work commenced on 6/21 and the patio looked nice. A few days after the work was completed, I noticed the temp inside my house was going up rather than down, despite my a/c being on. I called an HVAC professional my family has known for ~25 years (he's also an instructor). It cost me $675 to have it repaired. The week prior, when the KnK crew was still working, we noticed that my AC unit was sitting at an angle on its pad, rather than square, and I had asked KnK about this. The Account Manager told me they had "moved the pad over a bit," but hadn't moved the condenser unit itself, as they would "never" mess with that. Well, obviously if you moved the pad, you also moved the 200+ lb. condenser unit. There were 3 cracks in the copper pipes. Looking at photos I had taken before/after, I realized they'd rotated the pad 90 degrees w/out asking me. Only a qualified HVAC pro should move a condenser unit (and KnK moved it twice, as it was later moved again to sit squarely on the pad). I texted the Account Manager, who replied that if it was their fault then KnK would pay, and requested that I send the receipt to the office. I emailed the receipt 2x over one week, cc'g the owner. No response. I then sent it again directly to the owner and left a message with their service asking him to call me. No response. I sent the owner a MA Chapter 93A Demand letter. No response. I then looked at district court records in Stoughton and Dedham (online, public info). I found multiple cases involving KnK, Ken Keegan, and/or KnK Landscaping & Mass Materials, LLC including at least one default as defendant. I filed a claim last August and was awarded a default judgment in the amount of repair, filing fee, and punitive damages as the owner ignored the MA Chapter 93A Demand Letter. The receipt for my final payment included a request that I write a review on Yelp, because, "reputation is everything in our business." Awful experience. I am in absolute awe with the job that KnK Landscaping did to my lawn today. Outstanding! Last August we moved into a house with a lawn that, aside from being occasionally mowed by the previous tenants, had been VERY neglected. It was patchy, brown, weeds everywhere, just plain gross. I contacted Kenny of KNK and he came to assess the neglect. He was personable, well spoken, very professional, and he gave me a ton of options for how to best care for my lawn without breaking the bank. He explained in detail what every step would entail and just how it would benefit the lawn. KNK came in the fall and aerated and limed the lawn to help winterize it and prep it for spring. Today they came and worked some magic! And entire team of guys came and went to work. Dethatching, mowing, seeding, cleaning... the works! My lawn already looks like new! Our experience with KNK Landscape started in September of 2013. We had hired Ken and his team to remove a chain link fence and install a white vinyl fence around the yard + spring clean up and install a stone path. Ken assured us that he would get this installed before winter. After numerous excuses winter had come and the fence was not installed- we had to wait until spring. In the beginning of April of 2014 Ken was able to start the fence. He brought a team of unskilled ( very beginner) team members and overkill equipment. It took him 2 weeks to remove the fence and in the process he destroyed our entire yard from ripping up the yard with his equipment. When he went to install the fence he had not measured properly and had to re-drill the holes into the ground causing more destruction of the lawn which he promised to fix with sod. After three weeks the fence was installed- to find that they installed the doors wrong. When they fixed the doors there were extra holes which Ken said he could fill . These were never fixed. In the middle of all of this they did a spring clean up and started to install a stone path. The spring clean up was a disaster. They barely applied a dusting of mulch. It looked okay when completed but a week later it was a disaster ( applied less than an inch I am assuming to save costs) and the men were careless about our flower beds stomping on plants in order to edge. They used the wrong stones for the path which did not stay done and when walking on them they would crack. The whole mess just continued and Ken just continued to come up with excuses and ask for the final payment. He was also sending incorrect invoices charging us for the mistakes he had to fix. We paid the entire bill hoping he would make things right ($15,000). I finally had a conversation with him asking him to purchase us new fence doors, fix our yard which was a mud bath, and complete a proper spring clean up. He argued but then said he would be there to fix. After that, he never returned a phone call, text or email. This left us out of thousands of dollars. Our neighbors, friends, and family were shocked by the condition of our yard and how a business could treat customers this way. To this day he still is not smart enough to remove us from his mass email list- as he still sends us his promotions. To this day, we hear horror stories about KNK Landscape and really regret using them. On top of the bad service Ken would bash his team in front of us not owning his mistakes but putting the blame on others. Either way is not acceptable and is really disappointing that KNK could take that amount of money from a young couple, not deliver on what was purchased, and never return calls/emails/texts. Please BEWARE of this company and Ken Keegan. They are extremely unskilled and unprofessional. read more

He spent time with us and sketched out the work out so we could have a visual of what the final product would look like. We hired him to do the work and we are more than pleased. I called to have them quote a job and was asked by a secretary for a general description of what we're doing. The result was someone showed up unannounced in my back yard, brushing by my children, and started asking my wife questions. No one ever contacted me; no appointment was ever made. Then, the quote I received was not even close to what we were looking to do and when I asked for a revision I was promised a call from the owner -- which never came as far as I know. The quote was just way off (because no one talked to me in any detail), so it was a no go from the beginning, no big deal. Now, a month later, they are spamming me with calls, texts, e-mails to follow up. I've requested several times that they stop, but I just got another voicemail from a recorded message following up on their quote. I have no idea if they provide quality work, but if their attention to an actual project is anything like what I've experienced, it can't be great. read more

I hired KNK for a long overdue Spring cleanup and to remove a few overgrown / dead shrubs. They did a great job and it made a huge improvement to my property. There were four of his employees working like busy bees all over the place. They were prompt and personable. When done, I found a lot of weeds poking through the mulch rather than being pulled. I have a feeling that the workers probably thought they were plants or ground cover. NOT a problem - took me no time to pull them out. BIG PLUS: A large part of my back yard that I was expecting to be mulched was left untouched. It had mulch but it was three years old and thin. I waited a day thinking maybe the crew ran out of mulch. When I ended up contacting Ken, he IMMEDIATELY sent over 2 employees and a truck full of mulch. It took them less than an hour and looks 1000% better. I did my happy dance. I'm very happy with the end result. read more

I was never happy with the service provided. I tried several times to give this company a chance. The owner sent young kids to my home to do a horrible cut and trim and every single time they left. I would come home and have to go back out and sweep up ALL they left behind. For the amount of money I paid to this company. I would never refer you to anybody. Besides that they charged my credit card WITHOUT my authorization for four cuts after I told them to stop coming they kept coming and now think I owe them, are you serious!! I just had some much needed yard work done by KnK Landscaping and they did an excellent job! We inherited a very messy backyard when we bought our house and KnK fixed that problem for us. I'm so excited to get out and enjoy it. They were extremely professional. Got back to us right away and started the job in a few days. They worked hard the entire time they were there and finished the job in a very timely manner. They really went above and beyond. I loved that they communicated with me and my husband every step of the way. We've had contractors make decisions without asking us that we did not agree with. KnK was in constant communication and did a fantastic job. We will be calling them back in the future. The prices were very reasonable compared to the other quotes we got also. read more

DO NOT use for plowing. Complete highway robbery!!! $14 per inch for the 1st plow then $18 per inch for a second plow. Really!?? 4 inches and then they came for an additional 2.5 inches cost me $101. GREAT SERVICE. I contacted KnK to fence off the back of my yard. It was a pretty small job but they did not turn me away. The owner came down to discuss my needs. They started work within a week, which I was shocked. After my fence was installed, I contacted the owner with a few question regarding the install. There were two guys at my steps the very next day. They knew exactly what I wanted. That showed me that the owner had spoken with the guys prior to them coming over. That was such a great service. Within a day, they had my fence exactly they way I wanted it. My dogs are now able to run in the backyard and I know that there is no place for them to escape. To sum it up, KnK was very responsive, customer focused, professional and a pleasure to work with. It's tough to find great customer service these days. Give them a call if you need yard work.
