It is always intimidating to find a new chiropractor. Abandon all your fears because the staff here are genuine, kind and educated. The atmosphere is super warm and professional but the true service is in their staff team. After X-rays and an adjustment, I was counseled about my treatment options. I think the best way to show how above and beyond the team at Knecht Chiropractic goes to make sure each patient leaves in better shape than when they came is to give you a summary of every other chiropractor I've gone to. Usually, I go in and tell them what's going on, they feel around my back and shoulders, and maybe do a quick massage. This would take place once a month or maybe every other week. I knew Knecht was different from the moment I walked in. Dr. K listened to my problems, Dr. B took x-rays and did an exam of my body, and then Dr. K made a treatment plan for me involving physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, and therapeutic massage. For the first couple months, I came in 2-3 times a week! Since my first appointment, I've seen great improvement in my back/shoulder/neck pain. Cost wise: when I didn't have insurance, they charged $85 per visit and they let me go on a payment plan so that I only had to pay a fixed amount per month. So compared to other chiropractors that you only see a handful of times a year, yes, they are MUCH more expensive per year. BUT you see them more and I'm actually getting results, not bandaids that help for a week. The Staff: I LOVE the staff here. Everyone is SUPER nice and has made an effort to get to know me. They also were really friendly and respectful when I came out as non-binary, started using they/them pronouns, and changed my name! They also were respectful (and remembered) when my fiancée changed her name! Furthermore, since starting here, I moved from Lakeview to Logan Square, so my 10 min walk to Knecht's jumped to a 25 minute drive and I am STILL going there and have no intention of finding a different chiropractor! read more

What can I say? Great staff at every turn at this positive environment that has me feeling empowered to take control of my back pain that I lost control of following a back surgery that was a result of a bad car accident. Sometimes you have to realize you can't do it alone and need support and positive energy to get you to feeling good again. I had a smiliar experience to one of the few 1 star ratings below. I came in and was first impressed by how thorough they were with the X-rays and friendly office staff. Second appointment, they take you into Dr. Knecht offices where he gives you a spiel on how the vertebrae work, and at the end of his talk, he explains to me that he would need to see me 3 times a week for 3 months. He also mentioned insurance most likely won't cover a possible majority of these visits and I'd have to pay $90 for 3 appointments per week for over 3 months of work - which would be $270 a week? Sounds like they work something out where you can just pay off your debt over time at your own pace, but why would I want to be in debt thousands upon thousands of dollars for something not that dire? Plus, this plan seemed pretty extensive given I was just shopping casually for a new chiropractor - I was not in an accident nor have I had anything substantially bad happen to me or any spinal related health conditions - but he wanted to see me three times a week like I had scoliosis or something (which seems to be what he demands all of his patients in reviewing the comments I've read). Anyways, I asked if they had a more minimal plan, because there's no way I was coming in 3 times a week and paying out of pocket for three months, and the more he talked, the more he seemed to become progressively enraged at me. Towards the end he asked what I wanted to do, or if I wanted to think about it. I said I'd think about it, and he slammed his binder closed, and then started saying something about how it's up to me what I want to do... but I could see the fire and rage in his eyes. I almost asked if he was okay because I could tell he was livid. Then he brought me to the front desk and stormed off into another room and I stood there confused, and proceeded to slowly walk away and exit the office unsure of what just happened. I'm still confused how he's so highly acclaimed, he seems to be a hot head that wants to charge patients as much as he pleases, and see them thrice a week with no other options, no matter how serious or minor their problems may be. Beware that this office is a scam. They charged me $140 for an Xray, and an additional $85 just to go over the results. They want to charge me $85 for 3 appointments per week for over 3 months of work. I have bad posture, my muscles are tight, I don't need to spend $260 a week for a little tension. This guy is a sham. Talk about an amazing experience. Doctor K and his team have been able to help me start to finish. I came in with terrible hip and back pain I couldn't walk. Being 23 years old this was a huge red flag. Doctor k walked me through why I was feeling the way I was, then helped create a program with his awesome team to get me feeling better. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. In a climate where customer service ceases to exist, I found Knecht and all hope is restored. The joyful and jolly attitude combined with the efficiency and attention to detail demonstrated by this whole entire staff is simply unlike any I have honestly ever experienced. Their positive energy is infectious and leaves you almost bummed to leave and excited to return. Nearly everyone who visits this office is in need of some sort of help to relieve stress and pain. Well the stress is removed from the equation instantly upon first visit. Here you will be treated like a welcomed guest in someone's home the minute you walk through the door. They run on time even with numerous patients coming and going on the 15 minute. Dr. Brittni was so efficient is diagnosing my issues and Dr. Knecht was amazing at explaining to me how the body is built and should function properly. He then showed me, via a series of personalized x-rays and diagrams, where my issues lie, and then mapped out an efficient plan to correct it all that was reasonable and almost immediately made me hopeful that things were going to get much better sooner than later. The physical therapy staff is so kind and personable and made me feel very comfortable in an environment that might otherwise be dreadful when doing exercises in front of strangers. Finally Nia the most efficient, bubbly, kind and knowledgeable "woman who runs the show" (I don't want to call her a receptionist because she is so much more) is absolutely spectacular at accommodating everyone while keeping the wheel turning with a smile on her face. I believe stress plays a huge part in what ails many people, and furthermore the freedom from that stress is where we will find true and long term healing. The professionalism, kindness and overall joy demonstrated by this entire office is why I believe they have so many success stories. They have mastered the ability to remove stress from the equation for each individual patient almost immediately with the environment they have created. I'd have to agree with Brian H on this one. I went in with a KGB deal and he spent about 15 minutes trying to create a problem for me. Also, if you happen to go in with a KGB deal, I recommend you ask them how long your visit it scheduled for before showing up. I showed up on time and saw the doctor after 15 minutes of waiting. He wanted to perform another 45 minutes of testing before my massage which they had scheduled an hour later! I think it you plan on keeping someone in your office for over 2 hours, you should definitely convey that to them when they make the appointment! read more

I'll try to keep this as brief as possible...I saw Dr. Knecht and his associate about 2 years ago for acute upper back/neck pain. Good stuff: Their offices are lovely and they have a very polished practice with state-of-the-art equipment. The process they've established for getting you in and out is very stream-lined and fast. They and their staff are all very nice people. Bad stuff: When it comes to doctors, fast and polished isn't always good. Dr. Knecht does everything very fast...too fast. In fact, I want a dose of whatever that guy's on. Sometimes his adjustments hurt because he does them so fast and carelessly that he puts more force into it than he needs to for someone my size. He should chat less and heal more. On the flipside, I will admit his associate is more gentle. But this is the main reason I am giving him 2 stars: The pain was never resolved due to misdiagnosis. My initial consult went so quickly, I didn't even have time to process what he was saying. He was like a used car salemen who'd given the same pitch a million times. He indicated numerous pinched nerves and arthritis and prescribed me 6 weeks of adjustments before I knew what hit me. What Dr. Knecht failed to notice (and what I didn't get diagnosed until 2 years later by a more thorough chiropractor) was that I have a fracture in my cervical spine. By the time this was caught, it had gone so long without treatment that it never healed and will never heal. I now have the option of surgery or living with chronic pain for the rest of my life. I realize that sometimes mistakes are made and things are missed by even the most thorough of doctors. But given the totality of my experience with Dr. Knecht and how rushed the whole operation is, I can't help but think that this oversight was a direct result of the careless and sloppy work that is a trademark of this practice. Dr. Knecht is the epitome of what is wrong with the "in-and-out" mentality of the medical field today. Do yourself a favor and find a doctor who will actually take a moment to talk to you, examine you, find out what hurts, what else is going on, etc. Proper medical treatment should involve a thorough and thoughtful dialogue to diagnose something....especially if the prescription is 6 wks of (the wrong) treatment. read more

I'm a fan! I started going 3 years ago to treat adult on-set allergies and sinus issues that seemed to be worsening with age. A mutual friend suggested Dr. Knect. I was skeptical at first, but I was paying so much for allergy, cold and sinus medication that I was willing to try anything else that would help. I noticed after a year I hadn't needed Claratin, Alavert, Benedryl, etc in months. I was stunned. I continue to go for maintenance, or when I feel something might be coming on. The fun office staff makes this a place I look forward to visiting. And, if you can get an appointment, Jerius' (-sp?) massages are brutal, but amazing. I always feel like jelly afterwards; he always knows how to get the knots out. read more

I'm a bit disappointed to see negative reviews of Knecht Chiropractic. Dr. Knecht and Dr. Swaney are great. Dr. Knecht is more animated & bubbly while Dr. Swaney is kind of reserved. In November of '99, I had surgery for a herniated disc. I was still experiencing low back pain, although not nearly as bad as it was prior to the surgery. In 2006, I was at the Andersonville Street Festival. Dr. Knecht had a booth and was offering a free on-site screening. I figured, "What's the harm. It's free.'" I stepped up on the thing that looked like a scale (it measures the amount of weight you are putting on each foot). I then stood against the clear screen, where the alignment of my spine and shoulders were measured. Dr. Knecht then told me that my posture was out of whack and than I was putting more weight on my right foot than the left. I thought this was interesting because prior to my surgery, I had been limping, dragging my left leg like Quasimodo. Dr. K. then suggested I come to his office for a free x-ray and compehensive exam. There's that word, "free" again. The exam showed that my spine was degenerating. Dr. K said that without proper treatment, I might end up like a lot of the older women you see , walking hunched over. No Thanks! I'm no doctor, so who am I to question this. I scheduled my first adjustment and have been hooked ever since. Ocassionally, the pain comes back, but this is usually after I've ridden my motorcycle (I'm selling it just because of this), have done a lot of physical work or didn't pay attention when lifting something. The staff is great. Justin & Genevieve were great (sorry to see them go). The new staff are just as friendly. Jerious (did I spell that right) is the bomb! He's the in-house massuse, who must have been a masochist in another life. He finds all the knots and kinks in your neck, back and shoulders and gives them a westside beatdown. I try to schedule my massage on my day off because when he's done with me, all I want to do is sleep. I have no doubt that if I hadn't been going to Dr. Knecht & Co. these past 2 years, I'd still be popping pain pills and walking like Igor. Outstanding. Let's just say I found Dr. Knecht in an emergency situation after recently moving to the Chicago area. I was in a pinch (literally) and needed some serious help with no time to spare. Dr. Knecht's staff was friendly and accommodating, they were able to fit me in same day (which I seriously appreciated). Quite literally, I went from barely being able to walk/constant sharp pain, to almost 100% again in just a few visits (2-3 to be exact). I'm thrilled with my new chiro and it's a huge relief knowing I'm in good hands should another episode happen again. Another plus: I was concerned about a big bill when I learned Dr.K was out of my insurance network, but he's agreed to a very reasonable rate and I couldn't be more grateful. I love this place! I found Knecht Chiropractic through a referral. As I was recently in a car accident and suffering from the effects of whiplash and back pain, I wanted to be able to receive treatment during my month-long stay in Chicago. Luckily, I was able to squeeze into an appointment spot the same day that I had called! Everyone at Knecht is extremely friendly and helpful - they make you feel welcomed. During the initial consultation, Dr. Knecht and Dr. Petrak conducted a series of comprehensive tests. Let me start by thanking Dr. Knecht and the staff for their continued encouragement and positive attitudes. I was definitely skeptical of going to a chiropractor but I am now a true believer in the practice. In fact, I have never been a fan of going to the doctor for injuries. I love to play competitive sports and be outdoors hiking and mountain biking so I have had quite a few injuries and ailments and have always believed that I could work those kinks out or address the pain myself. I was having back pain for a solid 9 months before I went to Dr. Knecht for a consultation and my only regret is not going in sooner. My lower-mid back was in constant pain and would go in spurts of being so bad that I couldn't even bend over to take my shoes off. The consultation was eye opening - the genuine concern Dr. Knecht and his staff had for me was really telling to how they run their business. After going over X-rays, a history of injuries, current pain levels, and how this pain is negatively affecting my life it was clear that I had a problem and we came up with a game plan to correct my alignment which would alleviate this pain. I travel a lot for work and Dr. K, Deborah, Stephanie, and everyone else on the team has been incredible in being flexible with my schedule. As long as you are fully committed to the program Dr. Knecht and his staff lay out for you I guarantee they will help reduce any pain you are experiencing. After a few weeks I noticed my pain had reduced significantly. Now, after a few months of treatment I am pain free in my lower and mid back and am so thankful for Dr. Knecht and the wonderful staff at Knecht Chiropractic. Seriously, I cannot relate to any of the negative comments given from other yelp reviewers. I have had nothing but an amazing experience! Dr. Knecht is very confident - that's what you want in your doctor - he can see the trouble, diagnose it, and can lay out a plan of attack. He just knows what to do. Smart guy. Attention to detail. Very thorough. I initially saw Dr. Knecht because of a cramping shoulder/neck that wouldn't go away. After reviewing my x-rays, the plan of attack was 6-8 mos of adjustments, with active therapy each week. Since starting this plan, I have not had a single neck pain! I had strained my lower back raking this spring and immediately couldn't walk. My husband called Dr. Knecht's office and caught the staff just as they were ready to close. Dr. Knecht stayed at his office for an extra 45 min to see me so that I didn't have to go to the emergency room. He told me how to treat it, and then he saw me again the next morning. He likes his job. If you need active therapy - see Jarius. He is the best masseuse I have ever seen. He doesn't give a "spa" massage...he actually TREATS the problem area to relieve you of tight muscles and tendons. He knows what he is doing. Trust me - I've paid top dollar to rid myself of this chronic stiff neck I get - Jarius is trained how to figure it out! My last comment: Dr. Knecht runs a pretty tight ship. I think I'm addicted to going to the chiropractor after my experience at Knecht Chiropractic. I'm a performance artists and did quite a number on my lower back over the summer, but after only 2 weeks of visits the pain was nearly gone and I can say now that there's absolutely no pain. It's not just the pain relief that's made my time spent at their office enjoyable. Everyone there really cares about me, and I love that when I walk in the door, Deborah says hi to me by name and asks how my weekend was, as does everyone else there. They know what's going on in my life and are genuinely interested in me as a person, not just as a spine that needs cracked. Everyone should go see Dr. Knecht and Dr. P. I had terrible pain in my lower back- to the point I can barley get out of bed. I went to my regular doctor and he said it was sore muscles- gave me some pills and sent me on my way. As much as I enjoyed the few hours of relief the pills gave me, the pain was not going away and as much as I was little hesitant to try Chiropractic- I thought it couldn't get any worse. And, I am so happy I did. Not only is my back pain gone away- but my body is starting to feel better in places I didn't even realize were having issues. I thought my injuries that I got in college would prevent me from really be able to run again. But, because of getting adjusted and the strength exercises I see my body responding so positively- I know I will be running again in the near future. But, what blew me away was that fact that I don't have allergies anymore. For the past few years my allergies have gotten absolutely horrible. I would spend so much money on pills and medicines- literally anything that promised me any type of relief, I threw would buy it. But, the other day I was sitting at work and someone brought up how their allergies were so bad. I had to stop check myself because I realized I didn't have any. When I brought it up to Dr. Knecht, he said that is just another result that going to the Chiropractor can do. And, that blew me away and I knew this was really life changing. I would recommend Knecht Chiropractic. From working with you on really reasonable payment plans because my insurance didn't cover my recovery, to always making sure my appointment is quick- they are definitely the chiropractor to trust. read more

I would say that service with the chiropractor is good but be aware when you are doing the prepaid plan... I am still being charge by them even though I already paid them in full and they still haven't giving me any monthly bills statement to show how much I owe left but they spoke to me and said that I finished paying with them last month but never received a bill. Also I had problems in the past but gave them a second chance. Now I am learning from my mistake with them and I will never returning to them. Lastly I feel extremely disappointed in how this company operates. read more

I sadly disagree with the last review- I would have agreed with it prior to Dr. Swaney's departure. I was a big fan of the clinic, having gone there for almost three years. In my time there, I got to know the staff, and I saw how little Dr. Knecht appeared to really care for the people who worked with him, and how little time he gave the majority of his patients. I tried to make appointments only when was Dr. Swaney was available. Although a decent chiropractor (his adjustments were quick, but did the trick), Dr. Knecht did not have great "bedside manner" and I think his skills aren't are great as he thinks they are. I started seeing him about a month ago and when I came in for my consultation and follow-up, I genuinely enjoyed Dr. Knecht's thoroughness and ability to explain what was going on, what that means for now and into the future, and what is needed to correct the issue. This is a report: PLEASE NOTE = A LOT OF 1-STAR RATINGS FOR THIS PLACE CAN ONLY BE FOUND BELOW... in the not-recommented/not-part-of-the-overall-ratings page that you have to click to find.... these are the RECENT reviews, including mine. This is what I wrote earlier this month: It's simple, really: I was misdiagnosed. My treatment included bouncing on a ball and doing other exercises while I was unattended, in addition to spinal adjustments that never helped and may well have been damaging to my spine...this, I cannot say. Less than a month after going in for treatments where I was told my problem was muscular AND that I would need probably 8 weeks of treatment, two to three times a week (this, after a battery of so-called diagnostic tests, including x-ryas), I was having surgery for a disk that was herniated and had extruded... not a muscle issue at all, as it turns out. In fairness, it was not Dr. Knecht who diagnosed or treated me... but upon learning of my mis-diagnosis by email, Dr. Knecht responded, "Thank you for the update. I am sorry that your problem required surgery. I wish you all the best for a speedy recovery." I would also add that you should be aware that there are a lot of pamphlets lying about explaining why not to vaccinate your children. Just sayin'. read more

I am not surprised to see other one star reviews. The doctor was very nice, but my experience very weird. I went in with a "friends and family" offer hoping to get an adjustment and help with all the pain I have in my back and neck. Instead it was an hour and a half of filling out paper work, weird tests, and a dozen x-rays. After all of this, even a "pain" test from which I am still sore, I was hoping they would at least give me some information on what they found. Instead I was told to make a "findings" appointment when they would tell me a diagnosis. So basically I wasted an hour and a half of my life doing tests that I will never know the result of, because I can't afford the next appointment for $75. All I wanted was a 10min adjustment! My last chiropractor didn't need all of the extra crap to help me feel better. read more

The office has an extremely polite and helpful staff. Both Dr. Knecht and Dr. Miller were excellent and informative. The experience was definitely educational. My only issue was proximity and price. With the price, I would essentially being paying the same price I paid at various other Chiropractic offices at the pre-insurance rate. That is something I couldn't stomach. Found this place because of Groupon and I must say I am SOOOO happy I did! Dr. Knecht is GREAT! He is the type of guy you feel comfortable talking to about any issues you're having. He is smart and does wonderful adjustments. I have been going for about 2 months now and (knock on wood) have not been struck with any sort of headache. They took x-rays before my first adjustment so that we could visually see what's going on with my beautiful spine. His staff is also super! Dr. Cecilia Yu is really gifted as well and she also goes above and beyond to make sure I am aligned. They really care about getting me to my ultimate self. I began receiving Chiropractic care from Knecht Chiropractic Center in September of 2016. I cannot think of a single negative thing to say about this company. To give a little about my background, I am a 30 year old female who has suffered from occipital neuralgia (severe tension migraine) for most of my life. It was not until I received chiropractic care that I was able to discontinue my migraine medications and function on a daily basis. The staff at Knecht Chiropractic have improved my quality of life. After identifying and receiving thorough explanation of my subluxations, which proved to be clear evidence of issues contributing to my headaches, I decided the payment plan was the best option for me. The stipulations of this payment plan was provided to me by Dr. Knecht himself which I much appreciated. He worked with me to ensure that the payment was in my budget and that the payment was withdrawn at an appropriate time based on when I felt worked with my paychecks. I have never felt misguided or that my trust was betrayed in regards to payment or treatment. The staff at Knecht Chiropractic provide a very welcoming environment. I can happily state that I no longer suffer from migraines. When I experience stress, the intensity of my headache is at a 2 based on a 10pt scale. Very friendly staff and I always feel like they truly care about my issues.

I first came to Knecht Chiropractic three years ago for a severe pain in my neck. It felt like there was a pinched nerve and I could barely move my head from side to side. The pain was excruciating and Dr. Knecht could barely touch my head to give me the adjustment. He assured me that an adjustment would help relieve the pain and not to worry. Not only was Dr. Knecht very empathetic to my pain, he was very gentle. On my return visit Dr. Knecht spent time explaining what caused the pain and what I could do to help prevent it. When I arrived at the office I found it to be very welcoming and the staff very friendly. Everyone in the office is knowledgeable and efficient, which is much appreciated because sometimes insurance issues can be confusing. An added bonus at the office is the monitors that give chiropractic facts and statistics. Many times I find myself asking Dr. Knecht about the information I am learning and he goes into more detail- something I really appreciate. I try my best to follow a natural lifestyle and one of the best parts of that is what I have learned from Dr. Knecht and the chiropractic lifestyle. The science of chiropractic teaches preventative care and I feel that Knecht Chiropractic embraces that ideology. I feel like at every visit I leave not only feeling better from my adjustment but also that I have learned something new about how I can make my life better. I have been going to Knecht for a couple of years now. The staff is super friendly and - most importantly - they have made my headaches go away! I used to get severe tension headaches on a daily basis and now - I rarely get one. I wish I could go see them more frequently but my schedule does not allow it. I always get a deep-tissue massage there too with Jeries. He is wonderful. He's awesome at his job and he is so much fun to talk to. I'm not writing this for any reason other than the fact that I am now very unhappy with this clinic. I recommend everyone read this review and make your own judgment. I was a recent patient and I could not have been more displeased with the care of Knecht Chiropractic after a very expensive 8 weeks of treatment. This clinic is a complete scam. I believe Dr. Knecht and his clueless staff is more interested in making money than actually caring for his patients!!! After performing some online research and reading other reviews, I've come to the conclusion that my thoughts were not alone. Dr. Knecht has absolutely NO interest in personal care. I am very athletic and had neck/spine pains which led me to his clinic. I was initially very impressed with the doctors, the professionalism, the sales pitch at the start. After 8 weeks of treatment I saw absolutely no end in sight. This doctor wanted me to spend spend spend! I was diagnosed with a condition by Dr. Knecht that was not there before! I'm 30 years old, active, I left weights, and all of a sudden I'm "broken". Come to find out yes, my neck might get a little sore from time to time because I'm a heavy weight lifter. ***But what I noticed about Dr. Knecht, and this is the important part, is that after reading all the negative reviews, it's apparent that he has a "cookie cutter" solution and complete money scam he imposes on all of his patients. This consists of a standard "see me three times a week and get an expensive massage" treatment program he wants from every patient.*** I asked the doctor to show me some stretching exercises, and after 8 weeks of treatment, the doctor finally came into the room with some horrible print outs from the internet. I could have gotten these myself, but I figured after spending over a thousand dollars out of my own pocket (after insurance) that this doctor would have taken the time to show me how to properly do *critical* stretches. I'm an active weight lifter! But guess what? This doctor did nothing of the sort. ***Here is another thing...it's apparent from his STAFF that works there that he treats them like crap. They have TOLD me this. He pays them nothing, and half of his low-paid staff is waiting for the day they can leave his practice.*** I was utterly speechless to hear some of the things they stated. I have now received better care, less expensive, and only ONCE a week from one of his competitors I will remain nameless. This doctor showed me those critical stretches I need to do while I'm working out, and daily. My new doctor genuinely cares about my health. Please, I recommend everyone to check out his office, and understand after the initial appointment what he's all about. he's a scam. If I could rate this Doctor 0 stars, I would. read more

I was experiencing terrible migraines, neck pains and two herniated disks. Since seeing Dr. Knecht my migraines have decreased from 4-5 times a week to once a month, if that. Along with that my neck pain has decreased tremendously as well. What I like the most is that you don't just come in and do adjustments and send you home. You get adjusted, do some strengthening and stretches, and then once a week you go to massage therapy to help provide a better overall wellness. Found Dr. Knecht here on yelp and was overjoyed to find out that they accepted walk-ins as I was very clearly in pain. After a thorough exam including x-rays I was informed that many years after an accident and general life my spine was in worse shape then I thought. With Dr. Knecht in my corner along with his wonderful and friendly staff I'm on the path the correcting the trauma. His office hours great and I had no problem working them into my day to day schedule. read more
