Had an amazing all around experience here. Right off the bat the bartenders were super attentive and personable. Service in general was great by all staff. Lovely decor and lighting is super cozy. Best garlic bread I've had in my life, would go back just for that. Also had the pumpkin pizza which was delicious. Driving down from Sydney to Wollongong on a snap decision on a Friday evening, I asked my wife to look for a place for dinner. Came across Kneading Ruby on the phone and liked the sound of the restaurant and they are open till late. Tried to book once we checked into our hotel but ended up on a waiting list.. (at the top though) After pre dinner drinks at Humber bar (separate review) which was only meters away, I walked up two check on the table. The signage to the entrance was confusing, as it's through double doors which i thought was a loading dock.. They took my details again and I got a call within 10 minutes... We were in! Friendly rustic restaurant and at 9:30 the place was humming. I ca imagine what it would be like without Covid restrictions. Drinks were good (Negroni for me and something sweet and fancy looking for my wife). Looking around, almost every table had a pizza and they all looked amazing.. Woodfired, thin crusted simple pizzas.. Anyway..., we had: Heirloom tomato-Nashi pear-Buffalo mozzarella and Ginger salad. Brilliant (except the Nash I just tasted like regular pears) Oysters with Grape- Prosecco and Limoncello. Very good Beef cheeks (slow cooked goodness) Cannellini bean- Charred shallots Different food, friendly Rustic venue. Definitely worth the visit (make sure you book early) I will be back. read more

From the moment we dropped off the cake prior to our meal to the experience of eating here, we had mile wide smiles. The process of booking a group was seamless and easy; staff were accomodating and helpful As a coeliac going to an Italian restaurant, I was fearful of starvation, but OMG, the food is mind blowing, gluten free pizza bases are the very best I have ever tasted, you cannot tell the difference, honestly, I've tried them all! The set menu for our group was varied, fresh and devoured by even our pickiest plain eater. Pizza and polenta were a stand out! There were only 2 items I could not eat, and there was plenty to devour. Our server Sam was an absolutely delight, attentive but not suffocating, they even found the perfect song to bring out my divorce cake "girls just want to have fun!" Ha! Great traditional style pizzas with generous gluten free and vegan substitutions if needed. Note that groups larger than 10 will be pressured into a set meal which is not ideal for those with special dietary requirements. I had the anchovy pizza with a gluten free base - thin crispy and beautifully simple toppings and flavours. Would order again for sure. Salads and pastas look delicious, and though the cocktails are a little pricey, they're carefully prepared and might be worth the splurge. Garlic bread looks decadent with a pour over of melted garlic butter. Desert didn't even get a look in at our large group table with everyone thoroughly full and satisfied with their mains. Table service was really attentive and friendly. The room can get a little noisy due to the lack of soft furnishings, but for a smaller group this place is perfect. This is our new Wollongong favourite. We had a great meal here with zucchini flowers, meatballs, pizzas and gnocchi. Good draft beer, and a wide selection from the bar. The service was efficient and friendly, and there was good live music, perfect for the scene on a Friday night out. read more
