Each of the massage therapists is certified to perform safe prenatal massages. They have an easy online booking system (which I appreciated). I showed up and everyone was masked (March 2022) which I was thankful for, being pregnant. They offered me a glass of water while I completed the waivers and were very friendly! (I was the first appointment of the day.) I went into the room and the therapist thoroughly explained how the whole massage would go and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted her to focus on. The table was extremely comfortable for a pregnant person :) special pillow/mat with holes to accommodate your growing body and the ability to lay on my stomach (which I've missed!) and there was no pressure anywhere on my body. Just laying on the table was worth the whole massage! Lol halfway through I rolled over and she replaced the belly mat with a large wedge, so I didn't have to lay flat. The only thing I'd suggest would be having white noise or meditation music and or candles/aroma therapy. It was very quiet, but that would've put it over the top with comfort. Seriously an amazing way to start my day and I can't wait to go back!

I always book my appointment by phone. It's just my preference to have verbal contact just in case I have questions. They offer massages, cupping, acupuncture, and retail items. About two weeks ago I had a cupping massage with Becca. It was very interesting to say the least. The cups felt cold when they were placed on my back. The cupping marks lasted about two weeks. A little background on me: I am a former massage therapist and practiced Thai massage for about 5 years. I've been seeing Danielle for massage for a few years now. Her pressure was perfect (exactly what I expected considering how much I love her pressure in regular massage). I especially loved how she integrated her knowledge of muscles and the body into the various Thai stretches. Danielle's intuition with the body guides her to areas that need special attention and her love of the practice really comes through in her energy. Thai massage is very relaxing, but it's also very energizing. I left Specific Kneads feeling very loose and ready to take on the rest of my day. I was actually energized well into the evening, stayed up past my usual bedtime and added an extra 40 minutes to my normal workout because I felt so great. I felt like I could really let go all of the stress and just exhale. I booked my massage with Anthony, the co-owner of Broad Ripple Massage & Wellness. I chose him because he has experience with Thai massage, which my body really responds to. The massage with Anthony was wonderful. He incorporated some elements of Thai massage and stretching, but also lots of Swedish massage strokes and deep-tissue work which targeted some of my most tense muscles. I loved that he focused a lot on my jaw muscles and head/neck area, which just so happens to be where I carry a lot of tension. After my massage, I was fully relaxed and dazed, as one should be after a great massage. Afterward, Anthony told me that I also carry a lot of tension in my chest, and gave me some tips on how to stretch those muscles by stretching out my shoulders and arms. I love walking away with more knowledge on how to take care of myself! Broad Ripple Massage offers massages, but they also offer float therapy, which is a type of sensory deprivation that places you in a room with a shallow pool of salt water that makes you buoyant. And you float, in the dark and without sound, and eventually you fall asleep and your muscles and mind relax. I have never tried float therapy, but I think I am going to take the plunge (so to speak) soon, and my first time will definitely be at Broad Ripple Massage, because they have a nice setup. Broad Ripple Massage is located just off Broad Ripple Avenue, behind the Ascension St. Vincent medical offices. I got a 1 hr prenatal massage. It was very relaxing as massages should be. The owner made me feel very comfortable and made sure I had plenty of pillows, right temp, etc to accommodate my pregnant belly. When the massage was over I seriously felt like she knocked off 3 months of pregnancy aches and pains in that one hour. (I am 8 months pregnant for reference so basically everything was hurting before I walked in). I wish I would have known about this place sooner because I probably would have been getting a prenatal massage on e a month. By the way the prenatal is not on the website however I got the therapeutic massage and she altered the massage to be a prenatal one by the techniques she used and the pillows, etc. Highly recommend this place. Can't wait to try it out when I'm no longer pregnant.
