My new home came with a smart home system that was proprietary to KMT, so I had no choice in vendor to use. I signed paperwork at my home closing authorizing KMT to contact me. They never did. After a month of waiting, I called them. They blamed my builder. I was told someone would call me back. No one did. I called again. They blamed me. Yes, that's right, it's my fault they didn't call me. I left a message and was told I'd get a call, so how is that my fault? So she instead called it a "miscommunication" that she waited more than a week to call me back. There's no ownership here, no focus on customer service -- and I haven't even written these people a check yet. I can't imagine how it would be if I were under a contract with them. It took me finally getting to a manager to get someone moving. He confirmed that yes, my message did get through to the person it was intended for, and they just didn't call me back for more than a week. He scheduled someone to come out after five weeks of me waiting. The technician that arrived was nice enough, and he installed my system quickly. I had no questions, and he told me it was an easy install, that usually customers take a lot more time and ask a lot of questions. He told me that my next door neighbor was a little slow to understand the system, giving me the impression that he thought they were dumb. "They're ... uh, older," he said. What did that accomplish? After he left, the video doorbell didn't work. I spent a good deal of time on my own going through the doorbell's troubleshooting steps. It still didn't work. I emailed KMT. No response. No surprise there. I called KMT, and was put through to an in-office technician. He was nice enough, but the troubleshooting steps didn't fix the doorbell. It still does not work. He blamed my WiFi. Again, it's always someone else's fault. But wait, shouldn't the technician that was here have checked that out and had a solution if it was really my WiFi? My phone gets full signal strength at the door. The tech explained that well, my phone has a much better WiFi antenna than the doorbell they provide. So I take this to mean that his product is low quality, then. I asked "What happens if someone breaks in and my WiFi signal is low or the camera's antenna is just too small to get a good signal? How will I get video to share with police?" Oh, that's easy. The doorbell camera is for view-only. There is no video saved of any incident at all, which is worse than a $99 Ring camera. I had an apartment that was broken into in downtown Atlanta. I want a security system. I need this company's service, and have told them so. And yet everything is someone else's fault, or there's just lack of concern for the customer at every turn. The place is poorly managed. There's just nothing of value here. KMT wants to sell monthly subscription packages for a steady revenue stream. If you don't sign up for one of their security packages, even when you have a basic system that's paid for in full, it will not work with your phone after 3 years. So there's no way to record video, and after 3 years, with no way to even see video on your phone as it happens live, what is the video doorbell doing out there? There are too many other options out there to deal with bad service from a company that's trying to force you into a subscription model. I'm pulling out the whole "free" system and replacing it with off-the-shelf components. It's much cheaper and clearly much more reliable to go that way. EDIT: There's been a "response" to my review, but no direct contact to me. I think that shows the focus here is on reputation, not on actual service to the customer. I bought a Samsung SmartThings hub from Best Buy, and an Arlo video doorbell. For less than $200, I have everything working with my iPhone, including my thermostat, my porch light, and my door locks that came with the original system. No monthly fees. No extortion at the end of three years that requires me to pay up or lose the whole thing's functionality. In the end, KMT still blamed my builder. They still blamed me. They still insulted my neighbors. They still failed to install the system so that it worked. Now they add blame because the crappy components they sold were chosen by the builder. None of these issues are addressed in the "response." This is clearly a poorly run company with low customer focus. Seek someone else. read more

The technicians were timely and very professional. The builder had a monitoring company to install their system and KMT had to over ride the system that was installed. Again, I thought their service was excellent, they explain everything and made sure I fully understood how to work my system. I recommend everyone to get KMT System for their security. We were forced to use KMT as they we pre-installed on a new home we purchased. We had several technical issues along the way which they tried to submit bills for repairing their own installation issues but the worst part was that we had to pay out an additional year of service when we sold the house. So be careful about any contracts you enter into with these guys, they are happy to sacrifice customer service for a quick buck. read more

KMT acquired Mid South Security, we have had Mid South for 20+ years and have paid annually for monitoring. Saturday afternoon 12/31/22 the fire alarm went off, however not loud enough to wake anyone, is was a very low volume high pitch noise coming only from the panels. We called 911, the fire department came out and advised that our security had not notified them of the fire, the security company also did not call us. When I contacted Mid South they told us they did not know about the alarm because they had not received a signal from us since 2018. Mid South has been billing us annually every year, never advised us they were not receiving a signal - they have been charging us for services that were not rendered or provided. Additionally we have been paying for a POTs phone line at considerable expense specifically for the alarm. Our lives and property were at risk, and KMT/Mid South took our money without providing services. At a minimum, a very minimum KMT/Mid South should be refunding our monitoring fees for the last five years, because we were not being monitored. KMT/Mid South is refusing to refund even though no services were provided. read more

Poor customer service on behalf of KMT systems. I had a new build for a house, they pushed a promotional on a 1 year free trial. Then proceeded to lump me into a service plan. I attempted to cancel the service plan multiple times. There is no way that you can cancel the service plan online through the service portal. When I called the KTM systems number, to cancel the account. No notes were put into my account confirming it was cancelled. 4 months went by, Now I am required to pay the amounts even though I called to cancel. There were no notes taken of my call stating that I had cancelled and I am required to pay for months that I did not use the service. "continued monitoring" even though I have not armed the system since cancelled. Poor company, I recommend ADT or any other service provider. It's worth the extra money. read more

I had this system installed when I had my house built in 2017. I have had nothing but trouble with this Tech Package since I bought it. They install a system in your house, but they don't tell you how to operate or troubleshoot all the problems you're going to have once they leave. I had this system for about 36 months and had techs out here at least 8-10 times. I have to pay $99.00 every time someone comes out. I have problems with this system everytime we have a bad storm and the internet goes out. I live in Conyers, Ga. The internet goes out quite a bit. Right now I can't see my video cameras because we had rain storms for the last week. I hate having to call them to come out and fix the problem. Last time I tried to fix a problem I shorted out a part and ended up paying $300.00 to have it replaced. They live off of making repairs on shotty equipment. I'm kinda stuck with these bastards right now. I advise anyone looking for a home system to do your homework and don't get between a rock and a hard place with these racist pricks. read more
