We hired Karna in 2018 a year in advance for our September 2019 wedding. She is very professional and a pleasure to worth with. Karna shot our engagement photos and wedding and I have no regrets. Delivery of both sessions were quick and the shots were perfect. While shooting our engagement and wedding, Kara was fun and awesome to interact with. We are so pleased with the final shots. Do not hesitate to get in contact with Karna for availability, you will not be disappointed. read more

Karna is amazing. Her work speaks for itself, but I'll share what it's like to work with her as a client. Karna came highly recommended to us from a few couples that we know that hired her for their weddings. When I first spoke with Karna, she was incredibly thoughtful, knowledgeable and friendly. Not only was her pricing very reasonable, but it was clear that she really cared about getting to know who my fiancee and I were as a couple - she really wanted to reflect that in our engagement shoot and wedding. While we were initially going to skip the engagement shoot, I'm so glad we did it. She got to know us as a couple and help share some great tips for positioning/ways to capture the most flattering shots. When we first met in person for our engagement shoot last September 2017, we loved Karna right away. She is totally flexible, super helpful, fun and creative. We shared what we were thinking, and she helped make it a reality in the most beautiful way. We used one of her photos for our Save the Date, and we've never gotten more responses/feedback on a photo in my life! On our wedding day itself (May 26, 2018), she worked her magic. Karna has a keen eye for all the details a bride would want to capture, while making sure that she covers all of the family shots, too. Karna ensured that she knew what was important to us, and she delivered x 100. We are so lucky that we had her there to capture the beauty of our wedding, and she goes above and beyond in her creativity with the way that she positions things. She is super behind the scenes, but available when you need her guidance/suggestions. HIRE KARNA! You will absolutely love her and her work. read more

Two of my close friends hired Karna for their weddings and I thought their photos were so unique and beautiful I knew I wanted her to be our wedding photographer as well. Karna has a way of making you feel comfortable from the moment you first speak to her, very bubbly and it feels like you already know her. My husband was not looking forward to taking engagement photos but left saying how much fun he had and how much he liked Karna. We thought of the engagement photos as a practice for the big day but fell in love with a lot of the photos and were so impressed by them! Before the wedding Karna gave us a shot list and she made sure every shot and grouping of family/friends was taken which I really appreciated. She got some great shots of our extended family and 16 person bridal party where everyone was smiling and looked good-not an easy task! Karna got some stunning shots of my husband and I that captured the scenery and the joy of the day. The hard part will be narrowing down which pictures we can fit on the wall! I highly recommend Karna, she's been studying and passionate about photography since she was little and has the natural gift of the creative photographers eye! Check out her website and you will see what I mean! Thank you so much for capturing the joy of our wedding Karna!! read more

Just worked with Karna for my July 2015 wedding. From start to finish, Karna provided me with more than I could have ever wished for. If you don't have time to read this entire review -- just hire her, you won't regret it. I work in the wedding industry, so I had extremely high standards for all the vendors I worked with. I chose Karna above all the other wedding photographers I know because the images she produces are breathtaking. Her eye for details and the way she captures light is stunning. She worked seamlessly within our group, and captured some amazing, tender and intimate moments. Karna was a wealth of helpful ideas and suggestions, which helped in planning and thinking things through during a very stressful time. From our first phone call to our wrap-up email, Karna was warm, sincere and professional. I couldn't be happier, everyone is amazed by the photos, and I can't wait to decorate our home with the images! read more

After meeting with a few photographers, and not feeling any kind of connection with them, Karna was the clear choice for us. To say we clicked would be an understatement! We loved her style, her work, her guidance through the shoots, and her temperament. Photography is such an important part of the wedding. The photos are all that's left after the day comes & goes. And you don't want to settle. Hiring Karna took so much stress off my shoulders. We were so very thrilled to have her as our photographer. read more

Karna is a professional, very friendly, great with kids, pets and cranky older clients.

Karna was our wedding photographer, and she was incredible. She was very reasonably priced and so much fun to work with. She shot our engagement photos in North Beach, and had so many great ideas. We didn't have any cheezy proofs, it was hard to choose just one. (She even took the time to print ours on a special metallic paper because the color was so much better.) On our wedding day, she arrived right on time to my home and got a great series of photos with my maids, and family. Her assistant in the meantime, boarded the Mexican Party Bus with the rest of our bridal crew and took great shots with everyone on the way to the Presidio Chapel. They were so professional, it was like we hardly knew they were there. And, they managed our enormous families during the group photos. Seriously, I'm one of six kids, and my hubby has a huge family + we had a sizeable bridal party. Think: Mexican Catholic, that means the huge lens to get everyone in. I have no idea how she was able to get everyone looking straight ahead, not talking and not blinking, but she did it. And, we enjoyed ourselves at the wedding, I'm so excited to order some larger prints of her detail shots from the wedding to hang in our home, all of her printed work so far has been incredible. (We bought prints for our parents as holiday gifts.) Because we liked her so much, we're planning to now re-hire her for some of our professional business photos. I've already recommended her word-of-mouth so many times already, I figured I ought to Yelp. read more

Karna is the best! The engagement photoshoot she includes as complimentary with specific packages was priceless. We got to know her, she got to know us. She got to see how we interact as a couple, and we got to see how quickly she moves through ideas and shots. I came to the engagement photoshoot with several ideas. She executed on them better than I could have ever imagined. Karna is exceptionally patient, artistic, and kind. Her questions are specific to the needs of the couple and her work is exceptional. Karna kept in great communication leading up to our wedding. She checked in regularly and made sure we didn't have any outlying questions or concerns. Her shot log was especially helpful as we got to review who we needed where throughout the day of the wedding. And most importantly, Karna's photographs are beautiful. She makes art out of one day. I am so grateful we worked with Karna to capture our wedding day. read more

Karna was so wonderful to work with!! Someone my mom knew recommended Karna - she ended up being the first and only photographer we spoke with. She did both our engagement and wedding photos. From the first conversation we had I felt totally confident Karna knew exactly what she was doing. She spoke about things I never even thought before I started looking for a wedding photographer. Both my husband and I were a little awkward going into our engagement photo session, but quickly felt at ease after spending time with Karna. She was professional, honest and was just the person we needed to keep us in line on our big day. We just got our wedding photos back and I can't say enough - they are beyond our wildest dreams. Karna captured moments and details we missed, the emotion of the day and everything in between. I wish I could post all of her photos because they truly speak for themselves! (She also put up with our bridal parties who weren't exactly the fastest moving or best listening group in wedding history! :)) Thank you Karna for capturing every single beautiful detail of our day. What a gift to have these beautiful photos forever. read more

After seeing Karna's website, we knew she was the only photographer for us! She has an amazing eye and is so easy to work with. Myself and my husband aren't comfortable in front of the camera but Karna was a pleasure to work with and her calm and capable presence made us feel at ease. We had our wedding preview pictures within a week of our wedding (so fast!) and they exceeded our already high expectations. We are going to cherish her stunning photos for the rest of our lives. I highly recommend Karna to anyone looking for a photographer - she is a master of her craft!! read more

My partner and I used Karna's services for our wedding and it's safe to say it was the best decision we made. I'll admit I was skeptical at first because she isn't cheap, but without a doubt this is a perfect case of you get what you pay for. Karna's attention to detail consistently blew my mind. She has an exceptional eye for all the little things that you'd never otherwise consider but they all result in incredible shots. She's also very easy to work with and very accommodating. When you're planning a wedding much less on the day of the wedding, it makes such a difference having someone like Karna taking your pictures. She knows what to do and how to do it and where to always be to get that perfect shot. When we sat down a few weeks after the day and looked at the pictures we were blown away by the perfect angles and lighting she was able to get. I'm completely naive when it comes to photography and I initially was thinking of having someone take pics on their iPhone...boy would that have been a bad call. The pictures we have now are night and day difference to anything we could have gotten on an iPhone. Needless to say, we now have a photographer for life and will continue to use Karna for our future photo needs. She was able to turn a skeptic into a big fan so if you're looking for a photographer, seriously, look no more, this talented photographer will wow you. read more

Karna photographed our son for his senior portraits. Our son is the shy quiet type and she was able to put him at ease and let his inner light shine through. She really captured his essence while allowing him the freedom to be himself. We love the photos and more importantly, so does he. She doesn't take pictures, she creates art. We are absolutely pleased with Karna's photos, her prices are very reasonable, and she is wonderful to work with. read more

Karna is a true professional! We retained Karna with KMR Photography as our wedding photographer last September. Karna's packages and contract took the guessing out of everything. She was upfront and honest, which is something we did not see from all vendors during our wedding planning process. During one of our visits to wine country, Karna did our Engagement Shoot which came out just amazing. We were going to skip the shoot but Karna assured us that it was best for us to do the shoot so that we can get to know each other. I cannot thank her enough for urging us to do this! It was amazing to build a rapport with her BEFORE the wedding. My husband is not the most patient person when it comes to heat and photos. Karna was able to balance his minimal patience and my high expectations for pictures expertly. The day of our wedding, Karna was the calm in the chaos. She made sure we were sticking to our itinerary while never compromising on our wish list of photos. In the end, she promptly provided us the link to our absolutely stunning photographs and the download of the pictures was exceptionally easy. We are so happy with our experience with Karna and could not thank her enough for capturing our special day and more importantly, the love that we share. read more

Karna says she has a magic camera, but it is truly her talent that works magic. I was planning a last-minute wedding and mentioned to a coworker that I needed a photographer, and she immediately said, "you have to hire Karna, you won't be disappointed!" And not only did Karna not disappoint, but she far exceeded our expectations. We were planning a destination wedding in Lake Tahoe and Karna rose to the challenge of photographing in an unfamiliar location for her. Moreover, we were concerned about the lighting for our outdoor wedding among the trees and mountains--Karna took this very seriously, did her research, and scouted out multiple areas to be able to help us schedule our wedding events perfectly to capture the shots that we envisioned. I have to admit that I waited quite some time to look at her photos after the wedding because the day was so beautiful in my mind, I was afraid the pictures would make my memories less magical. But I was thrilled to see Karna's gorgeous photos that not only captured the entire day, but also somehow magnified emotions and details that I otherwise would have missed. Karna is not just an amazing photographer, but she is a lovely, kind, genuine person who is responsive, flexible, and very easy to work with. She clearly loves what she does--I loved seeing her get excited and even giddy as the wheels were turning in her head putting together the composition of a photo. She is a true artist! I will be forever grateful to her for preserving the memories of one of the best days of our lives! read more

Karna did the photos for our engagement and wedding. She was so fun to work with. She took great pictures for a reasonable price, best price we could find for quality pics. We are lucky to have found her and plan to go to her for future family photos. read more

Karna did some amazing portraits of our daughter (at age 6 months). Not just technically good photographs, but ones that really captured the cherubic quality that infants that age have. Really good at setting up artistically interesting shots just using the interiors of my in-laws' home. Karna has a great eye, an easy manner and I would tell anyone that's considering hiring her to that you can have complete faith in her product and ethic. read more

Karna is amazing. We are thrilled with the way our wedding pictures turned out, and are glad we went with a professional rather than relying on friends/family who are also photographers - I'm sure they would have done a great job, but that's a lot of pressure! She and her assistant were fantastic at our wedding & reception, capturing so many fun moments. And she was super patient during the process of making our album and choosing what pictures we wanted to have printed for various parents and grandparents (and ourselves). read more

Karna accompanied us to our destination wedding in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. She coordinated with the minister to fulfill our request in capturing the beautiful Zihua sunset in the photographs. Not only was she able to efficiently organize our guests, she came up with creative arrangements and took full advantage of the amazing scenery. This was quite a feat to accomplish in such a short time frame. An added bonus is that Karna is fluent in Spanish for those of you considering a destination wedding in a Spanish speaking country! Karna shot our engagement photos at Baker Beach as well. Again, she came up with very creative shots. There was none of that "insert engaged couple here" monkey business going on. The photos turned out so fantastic that our friends actually requested prints. She was even able to coax our Black lab Annie into turning her head towards the camera at the perfect time (several times in fact). Since our wedding, my husband who is a professional musician, has hired Karna several times for studio shoots and live gigs for promotional material. I recently recommended Karna to a newly engaged friend of mine and in doing so remembered what it felt like to have the overwhelming "check list" looming over my head. I felt that one of the hundred, if not thousands, of overwhelmed brides in the Bay area (and beyond) could benefit from this review. read more

Karna is a true one-of-a kind artistic photographer! My fiance and I hired her to shoot our destination welcome dinner & wedding in Sonoma Valley, California. She was such a pleasure to work with. My friends and family loved her! Her passion exudes throughout her work. She captured breath-taking photographs of our perfect day. She provided us with a beautiful portfolio of both traditional and artistic photographs and turned these around within weeks of our wedding. I am having the hardest time narrowing them down for my wedding album! I highly recommend hiring Karna Roa with KMR photography. I promise, you won't be disappointed. read more

I am so thankful I met Karna years ago through some mutual friends. She's a great person and amazing photogrpaher. Years ago my husband ( boyfriend at the time) got us a couples photoshoot with her and I loved our pictures. So when we finally got engaged and the only person I wanted to be my photogrpaher was Karna. We did our engagement photos in SF and we were expecting a beautiful day in September. We were there for 20 minutes and the fog rolled in. Of course it was thick and freezing cold. It wasn't what we were expecting and I was a little upset that we weren't going to get the sunset in our photos. Karna did her magic and still got some beautiful photos! Our wedding was last Sat and Karna worked hard to pos some some sneak peek photos on her blog and I am SO pleased with those. She did such a great job and just with the pictures I saw she got some amazing shots. I am so excited to see the rest of the pictures. Her assistant Nora was great too. She was so sweet and she made sure my dress was always fluffed and hair was out of my face. I'm so happy she was available for our wedding and I have been recommending her to all of the brides I know. read more
