To this day I still love the store but it still feels rather pricey. When they have their sales I love to take advantage and stock up on cheap jewellery and last seasons clothing items (did I just admit that I wear 'last seasons' clothing?). The jewellery, handbags and hair accessories are probably my favourite thing about Sportsgirl. The jewellery is funky and is usually reasonably priced. They have a pretty stellar collection of unique rings and other very colourful jewellery and accessories. I still love their clothes, especially since they tend to specialise in boho-chic these days which I adore, but it's unfortunately overpriced. As I previously mentioned, the sales are the best time to shop at Sportsgirl.

If you are of the more petite variety there are so many options where you can get cheaper fashion knock offs, larger girls don't have this luxury and I can see that City Chic is making a killing out of it. One of my best girlfriends shops here and when I saw the pricing I had a fit, it was like $120 for this dress that you would normally be able to get for $50. The staff are really friendly, sometimes I think that they're not being sincere but if you need sizing and all that they're very helpful. It's a nice, clean store with a range of really nice clothing items, just be prepared to pay extra.

Tuesday evening was the prime time I decided to search for a green shirt to wear (school spirit and all). I left Kmart after a 15 minute trip (including parking) holding a $3 shirt. THREE DOLLARS. What. Even. So you want a bargain? Go to Kmart. Honestly. I don't even understand. I also bought my lady a pie machine for Christmas from there. I'm hoping she won't read this, but it was $12 and it's fantastic. So impressed. Kmart also has self serve checkouts for those who like, as well as normal checkouts. The staff on the door I've noticed are quite nice. There's also a Kmart Tyre and auto. If you weren't aware Kmart is actually in Toombul shopping centre, conveniently close to the undercover parking. If you've not been to Kmart for a while, as I hadn't, you really must take a look.

Apparently this is a South Australian department store, but it's no Myer or David Jones. That said,…read moreit's not exactly a Kmart or Target either. They do have a few name brands, but a lot of their stock is really cheap, crappy stuff. I sometimes think it's what would happen if Crazy Clarks decided to try to compete with David Jones. They always have a sale on, but don't be fooled, their sale prices can sometimes be insanely high, so shop around. That said, I picked up one of my favourite shirts there for $5, bargain! I wouldn't make the trip to Chermside to visit the store, but if you're there, definitely pop in, make sure you compare prices, but there are bargains to be found.

It may not worth a long trip to visit a Harris Scarfe shop if you are in Queensland, but if you happened to be nearby, have a look, you may find something nice and different.

For those of us girls who like to keep their beauty on the "edge" there are some quirky Japanese beauty routines for, you guessed it, $2.80. The lolly/sweet and drink section has some great things to try. For me however the winning sections would have to be the storage aisle and dinnerware. The storage aisle has lots of small, medium and large containers perfect for travel, organising beauty or bathrooms or any tiny nickknacks. The dinnerware has lots of tiny plates, bowls and cups.of all descriptions and I have to admit that I've used a couple of these to decorate my dressing table. It can be pretty expensive to shop here because it all adds up pretty darn quick, and logic dictates that some of the items just aren't worth $2.80, while others are worth more. It averages out in the end, but you need to be careful not to buy what you don't need, and shop around too, because you aren't necessarily always getting a bargain, but buy the right things and you're on a winner. A downside is a lot of the packaging information is in Japanese, so you're never quite sure what the item is. An upside is the Engrish. Always a joy! Still, check it out, it's bright and cheerful and you just might find what you're looking for.
