Tickets to the Klementinum sell like hotcakes. You cannot enter the Klementnum and see the Baroque Library and Astronomical Tower without a tour ticket. I went back in the morning to try to snag a ticket, and the line at 9:55am was already looong. After I got in line, it instantly grew looooonger behind me. I got a 2pm ticket, which I feel very lucky to get. I came a little late, but thankfully my group for my time slot didn't go too far. I can see why we needed a tour guide. We were led up these veerryyyyyy narrow winding stairs for multiple floors. It felt very scary, going up these narrow and steep stairs that I worry about the stability of, AND going so high up. The view of the Baroque Library was worth it. What a beautiful library. Made me feel like I was in a magical library! Took a bunch of photos and a video. I just wish we could actually enter the library. Everyone was crowding to take photos and videos from the doorway. To reach the Astrological Hall, we went up wooden stairs that are the original from the 18th century! More scary stair-climbing. The views of Prague from the top floor of the tower balcony were very beautiful. Even though I was scared of heights, dropping my phone, and bumping into someone and risking falling, it was very cool to be so high up and get a bird's-eye view of Prague. Made it back down safely! This is not a great tour for anyone scared of heights. And you'll be disappointed if you were expecting to enter the library. read more

This was one of the most overrated and underwhelming tourist experiences in Prague. Online tickets sold out about a week in advance, so the only option was to get a same-day ticket by lining up at 9AM. I got to the ticket office at 8:50AM and there were already about 100 people in line. At around 10AM, I made it to the front of the line and was able to purchase tickets for 1:30PM. Most same-day tickets run out by 11AM. The tour itself was only 45 minutes long and no one could even go into the heavily advertised Baroque Library (1 star off). The library was barely lit and the tour group had to look in from the entrance. The library looked impressive overall, but I was not able to see the details the tour guide described, being held so far from them. In fact, I learned more from the digital rendition of the library. The was not what I had expected after lining up an hour and paying CZK380 for a live tour. The tour included the Astronomical Tower, but it was just an empty room with two small display cases of small (astronomical?) instruments (1 star off). The aerial view was nice...if you could squeeze in the tight balcony. An obese lady in my group sadly could not experience it. The tour did not include the Chapel of Mirrors, which was included in past tours. Now it requires a separate ticket. Save your money and time by learning about this place online...from the comfort of your own home or the Starbucks across the street from the Klementinum. read more

Watched and thoroughly enjoyed the Royal Czech Orchestra ensemble, organist and soprano soloist performing Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, Smetana, Verdi, Pachelbel and Beethoven. The acoustics were great, the seating was 2nd row and great and the performances were awesome. There are other locations and different shows have some substitutions. Grand piano for organ. Ours included Requiem on titular organ. Was fantastic. I'd go again. Probably choose a slightly different variation each time in Prague. read more

The worst experience I've had during my week in Prague. 1. The employees are incredibly rude. I was trying to walk into the ticket office and was yelled at by an employee, without explanation and despite others being able to enter. Second, I accidentally booked a tour in Czech and was chastised by the tour guide 2. It is nearly impossible to get tickets; they are frequently sold out. And the website gives conflicting information regarding the tours 3. I guess I wouldn't know since I couldn't understand the guide, but the tour was kind of a rip off. You don't get to go in the library and we didn't visit the mirror chapel It's sad that on my last day in Prague I'm being left with this terrible experience. Super over rated. You don't even get to go into the actual Baroque library. Even after they advertise in all the pictures. The lady at the ticket booth was super rude. Closed the booth window and was eating right in front of us for several minutes while we were all waiting to buy tickets. You can only go with a guided tour. Can't go see it on your own. read more

Wow! I wasn't sure how the quality of performance would be given the dodgy looking ticket selling stations, but wow. I'm so happy that we spent €24 on tickets to see the orchestra and soprano performance of Four Seasons. I was absolutely spellbound by the soloist who just nails every note in this historic former chapel. Klementinum's website (and door...) say guided tours take place every half hour. They don't mention the likelihood of a long wait due to limited tour sizes. I went in early afternoon midweek during the offseason and had a 2-hour wait. I'm not sure if that's the norm or not, but luckily it is set in the center of town so there's plenty to do in the meantime. The tour shows glimpses of the innards but nothing all too detailed. I'd say it's skippable if you're short on time but otherwise could be a nice stop. It takes about 50 minutes from start to finish. As part of the tour, you'll take a look at the Mirror Chapel (not as many mirrors as you'd think), the Baroque Library (needs a good dusting but is really pretty), and the Meridian. There's then the option to walk up to the lookout tower, which provides a nice view of both Old Town Square and Prague Castle. Maybe not the best vantage point in town but central nonetheless. Really nice during a sunset too! Keep in mind the steps to reach the top are very steep and the elevator doesn't go all the way up, so if you have mobility restrictions, it may not be totally worth the price tag to only see the chapel and library. Overall I'm glad I saw the Klementinum and would recommend if you have the time. read more

The tour is quite short and kind of mind numbing. You visit the Mirror Chapel, the Library, & the tower above. They were all pretty, but really not worth the time. The view was excellent from the tower, but go to the Tower in Old Town Square, way higher elevation and better view. So many better things to visit while in Prague for the time & money. read more

Did a tour here and thought it was a bit boring... you have to wait an hour or two for the tour and they just take you up/down the stairs. You won't get to go into the actual library, they'll let you stand at one small corner to see it, you're not even allowed to take pictures. The best part is probably seeing the city from the top. Other than that, there's nothing exciting about the tour, I would recommend skipping it and not waste your time here. read more

We went on the 50 minute guided tour. You can only get a guided tour. Sign said lift not working today, the sign was laminated..... so not the first day the elevator wasn't working. Even if the lift was working it would not get you up in the tower, but it would make it so you wouldn't have the climb four floors using the spiral stairs. You have to climb up three more flights to get to the tower. The view was great, right in the middle of the old town area. The Library part of the tour was not worth it. The staff was ok, the guide was good but it's not worth 300 each person. Just to stand in the doorway of the library and you can't photographs. Not worth it!!! read more

WOW!! One of the most amazing places I have ever seen. Well worth going to for the history and what they let you see, which is not a whole lot. The place is so amazing that the tour really should have more sights allowed to be seen, they'd make more money and general sales. With only a few hours left on our last day in Prague, my friend and I decided to check out this spot for its Baroque library. Tours are 45 min long and are every half hour. An English speaking guide with a thick accent accompanies you. I really liked our guide because she was friendly but with the acoustics and her accent, it was a bit difficult to understand. There are a lot of steps to climb so I would not recommend this place to someone not able bodied. It kind of reminded me of the Anne Frank house tour. For a small fee (and even smaller if you have a student id), you get to see great views of Prague. The library was off limits but you are able to sneak a peek. Its such a historic place and has such a rich history, I would recommend it to visitors. The views are different from the clock tower views and there are less people here since you have to go with a guided tour. read more
