The quality of care is subpar and the staff is not equipped to deal with people with mental illness. Wouldn't recommend whatsoever.

This is one of two locations serving as home to three wonderful orthopedic doctors. The staff is very courteous and professional. They have a system, that every patient has access to, where they can send messages, request prescription refills, hold a virtual visit, check/request appointments and make payments. I had an elbow set back and doctor Armington was very knowledgeable, informative and supportive. He got my plan started almost immediately. Anytime you have a orthopedic issue, there is a level of anxiety, nervousness, and anxiousness. It is a huge decision to make. This place is a good solution because they seem honest and provide you with the information for you to make your best decision, without pressure. And if you do decide to go with them, as i would highly reccomend, they will guide you along your journey in a professional and supportive manner.

His physical assessments of my ruined hip were thorough, both times I saw him in his office. Today, Dr. Martin gave me a shiny new titanium hip! He came to talk to me before and afterward -- the surgery took less than an hour (he's done a LOT of these surgeries), and he said it went smoothly. (My anesthesiologist, Dr. Fritch, was awesome -- she explained everything in medical terms, as requested, as I have a medical education.) Dr. Martin asked me if I had any questions, both before and after surgery, but honestly, the nursing team had explained everything so well -- with written copies of everything -- that I didn't. He showed me pics of my ex-hip... it looked as bad as it felt. And then he shook my hand and told me he'd see me soon. (The nursing staff verified that I had my first follow-up appointment scheduled.) Three hours after they wheeled me into surgery, I went home in His Goatness's care. The licensed physiotherapist got me up and worked with me on the proper way to stand, sit, walk, sleep, etc, so my hip can heal without complications. While I was a bit groggy from anesthesia, there were no side effects. I recall the discharge instructions clearly. My main care nurse gave me a hug (we were all vaccinated and masked). So now I am home, comfy, fed, and cat-covered. I am impressed, Dr. Martin.

After having been a patient of Franciscan Health's Wound Care Institute on two separate occasions…read morenow, including for over a year currently, I've decided to update my review with a slight downgrade. Dr. Joyner is director of Franciscan Health's Wound Care Institute, a clinic located in the outpatient services building that specializes in treating chronic, traumatic, and non-healing wounds. I saw Dr. Joyner for a visit or two after my late 2019 upper leg amputation and was generally quite pleased as it felt like she was realistic in treatment and not obsessive like some wound care doctors who tend to want to see you 2-3 times weekly. For my most recent care, I was referred to Dr. Joyner in October 2021 by my primary care physician due to having acquired a fairly significant wound on my right leg stump. I was having a hard time seeing and reaching it and it was obviously infected and starting to swell. To be honest, I was starting to fear additional amputation. Dr. Joyner was initially concerned about infection and lined up an infectious disease physician to consult. He put me on aggressive antibiotics and we got that under control for the most part. My leg has significantly improved, however, thus far we've been unable to get the wound to completely close. We're using consistent compression and have considered a couple different compression pumps. I have a small circle of friends who help me bandage and wrap the wound every couple of days. My appointments have ranged from every couple weeks to monthly. Dr. Joyner is a Franciscan Health physician employed by the network. While I consider Dr. Joyner to be knowledgeable, personable, and pretty matter-of-fact about treatment options, I'll admit that I've become somewhat bothered by some aspects of care like nurses who wrap/bandage the wound poorly (multiple times wraps/bandages have fallen off before I even get home). At times, it seems like the care regimen is forgotten from appointment to appointment. There's also referrals to equipment without regard to ability to actually get it (for example, a recent compression pump referral had a $1,700 co-pay). At my most recent appointment, I was essentially told that we'd done everything other than possible surgical revision, though with the wound being not infected and stable that didn't seem like a reasonable option. I've also had some issues with billing, though I don't necessarily hold Dr. Joyner responsible for that. However, as the director of the clinic it still is worth mentioning. It's hard to give an enthusiastic recommendation when the primary reason for my seeing her is left unresolved over a year later. There are definitely good things here, however, I feel like there's missing support - perhaps physical therapists to assist with compression and wrapping and a better handle on available supplies. In the end, I have to say this has become one of my more frustrating experiences with Franciscan and one of the very few experiences I'd be unlikely to recommend. However, I do know that Dr. Joyner handles significant wound care in the clinic and so this may simply be that rare occasion when treatment doesn't work. Regardless, I still feel like a 3-star rating is more accurate after my most recent experiences.
