Once I got busy with life and no longer had the opportunity to turn my own wrenches I was recommended Dave @ T&Z by the local Miata community. Dave is one man shop. He is the only person that will work on your vehicle. He takes pride in what he does, he is old school. Just look at his Spec Miata and other cars he built from scratch. I was very happy with his workmanship and attitude. He is also a racer and builds spec Miatas and does upkeep on them. He did belts/hoses and water pump on my stock 94 Miata that I took on a 5000 mile road trip to California in November 2014. He also helped me rebuild an 94 FM2 Turbo Miata that I bought with a hole in the block. He swapped a new engine in, installed Vmax coilovers, Exhaust, FM Butterfly brace and aligned my car really well. I also bring him my work truck even though his shop is quite a drive from my house. He truly earned my business. Just a tip: If you call his shop you will often get a voicemail. Dave is usually working during the day. Don't be annoyed by no-one is picking up the phone. He will always get back to you if you leave a message.

After the first visit this became my preferred local auto shop. I went here a few years ago with my…read moreold Honda because it was making a peculiar noise under the hood. Justin gave it a listen with a stethoscope and pointed to two things under the hood, an idler pulley that was visibly wobbling and the AC compressor, whose bearings were starting to go bad. I was advised to replace the idler pulley and to live with the whining compressor because the AC still worked and it was an expensive (and not totally necessary) repair. That was some very reasonable advice and it's nice to find a forthright mechanic locally. I'm happy to have avoided the unnecessary expense on an older car. Since then they've put tires on my Volkswagen and I'm using them for regular maintenance. I've also recommended them to others who have had similarly positive experience. In my experience, Bill's has always exceeded expectations and those who I referred to the shop have thanked me for doing so.
