At 9:30, I gave him a call to ask him if he was still coming as I had to get work done to my minivan. He assured me he was on his way, and that he was a little late due to another job. Austin didn't arrive until 10:30am. At that point, I had to cancel my appointment for my vehicle. While at my house, Austin was looking at his phone repeatedly. I was able to catch a glimpse and saw he was on Facebook Marketplace! We have three 20 year old Liftmaster openers with one not working properly. Another service provider the builder uses told us that it could not be repaired. I called KJ Doors from a web search and passing their Harleysville location from time to time and explained the situation and sent them an e-mail with the photo below as requested. They were able to determine it could be fixed with a Liftmaster rebuild kit made for the exact problem. They came out the next day and rebuilt the damaged opener, inspected the other two openers and found one of them showing signs of the same problem developing. I had that one rebuilt as well which was done at a lower price since it was part of the same service call. We ended up spending less to rebuild both openers than the other service provider wanted to replace one. All three of our openers now work like they are brand new. Who would smash their garage door with their car? Yes , me. My neighbors like to hit their garage door more than me, so they referred KJ Door to us. They came out and gave a free estimate on the repair of the door. Fortunately, the guy was honest and said he could just replace one panel that I damaged. We talked about the cost of replacing all three doors since they are 17 years old. But we decided to just do the repair. There was no pressure to replace or buy the doors. If you use a credit card, they charge 3% more. Since they required a 50% deposit to buy the door, I sent then a check. They said it would be two weeks to get the door. They underpromised and overdelivered. The door came in a little over one week and they scheduled my repair within 2 days. The guy that fixed my door, Jon, was professional, clean and did a very good job. We loved the fact that they're a family business, and the person who came out to give us the quote was the same person who came out to install our new garage doors. We were able to pick from a huge selection of colors, and only had to pay a deposit when we ordered the doors. The balance of the cost was paid AFTER the doors were installed. It is Saturday, at 10AM, and I am busy doing chores around the house - before needing to leave for a late morning appointment. I hear a very large bang in the house, almost an explosion, and quickly race around to see what trouble the cats had gotten into! had they climbed into the Christmas tree? Had they knocked over a hutch with precious treasures? I could find nothing, so I went back to my chores. I then rushed out to the garage to go to my appointment and found I was trapped. The torsion spring on my 10-year old double-wide garage door had broken into three pieces, and the door was too heavy to lift manually. I called KJ Door services at 11am - an hour before they closed, and spoke with Troy - who indicated all his techs were out in the field and they were booked until Wednesday. Without prompting, he knew this was as close to a non-life-threatening homeowner emergency, he asked for my number and told me he would get right back to me after calling some of this commercial tech and staff to see if they could come out later in the day (after they closed). True to form, Troy stayed in touch with me, asking questions about the door, getting the information he needed to size the springs, while he waited for a call-back from one of his team. By the time I had given him the information for his calculations, he had an answer - one of his techs (Ken Cloehern) would come by in an hour and fix the problem. Ken is a commercial tech who had come in from another job. Ken arrived as promised, with new springs in the truck. An hour later, I had a functioning door and a reasonable bill for the service. Ken was delightful, competent and fast. He was happy to explain what he was doing (I'm an amateur MacGyver fix it all type), while he was working - not dropping speed - or tools as he worked. I guess that is what being in the business for 20-30 years does for you! In any case, from the office experience, to the service call, to the repair itself, KJ Doors did a fantastic job. Looking at their website - after the fact - I see they are a long-time local family business that supports the community - in addition to doing great work. I've had them service my door two times - both with excellent outcome. I recommend them highly, and will use them when my doors need to be repaired or replaced in the future. Just had KJ Doors replace all of the windows in our house last week. The windows were original to the house (1983) and they needed to go. Half did not open and the other half made wonderful screeching noises when the worn out aluminum windows were open. We contacted KJ around the beginning of August. They came out about a week laster and did an estimate. After a couple modifications we settled on a price. About 4 weeks later the windows came in and we set up the days for them to come out to put in the windows. Two days and all ten windows were replaced and we love them!! The windows they use are Harvey Windows. They seem to be pretty good quality and they use Harvey because they can be custom sized. The instillation was very easy to set up and they worked very quickly, especially since the windows took extra work because of their original set up. My one minor issue was they caulking they did on the inside of the windows. They were a little sloppy. They did send someone out to caulk a second time, which was much appreciated. Overall, we were very happy and would recommend KJ for window instillation. read more

A few years ago, a KJ Door technician came out and told us he could repair the door but that we should consider replacing the door since at that time it was over 20 years old. He was not sure how long the repair would last. When a tear developed in sheet metal of the door, we knew it was time for replacement. Of course, we called KJ Doors. They came out on time, were very polite and professional. Again, they recommended a replacement. The door opener was 25 years old as well and not functioning properly. They pointed out that if we sold the house the house inspection would report that the door did not have the proper safety equipment to prevent injury if the door would close and someone or something was in the way. This time we opted for both door and opener replacement. We were concerned about the safety of the door while we awaited delivery and installation. The technician added a brace to shore up the door temporarily while the replacement door was on order. The door was delivered and installed as promised. We have used K & J in the past for minor repairs and they were always very responsive and courteous. This time we bought an entire new garage door opener and couldn't be more pleased. First of all, we love the new opener. It is so quiet that you barely hear it. It also came with a 2 new openers for our cars and an outside keypad. The small unit on the wall of the garage is very nice and has a motion sensor that turns the light on. It gives time and temp also. My garage door started to act up this winter. I called 4 garage door companies hoping for an easy fix. All of them indicated it was probably the control circuit to the opener. Finally, acting on a recommendation from my boss, I asked one company to come out and take a look at the door and the opener. I was shocked when they said I needed to replace the entire door AND the opener. The door was cracked they said and could not be repaired. I was told I had a "builders grade door" and I should buy a steel reinforced door of a better quality, even though I tried to explain that my garage was old and did not warrant a better garage door. I was also told the springs were shot and the sensors were bad. Estimate to replace door and opener $1600!!! Then I called KJ Doors and spoke to Troy. I was very relieved to hear my door could be repaired, or I could just replace that top panel. Troy had a technician (Dan) at my house that week who confirmed the opener was shot but the door was an easy fix. One new Life Master opener installed, new springs and a support in place on the top panel to stop the crack from spreading all for $507.50. Dan did a beautiful job, very professional.
