It'll keep us in shape and we get to say we did it! INSTRUCTOR: We took with Florian as the instructor and the Dyanmo Encore class. The class was primarily in French which we don't speak, but Florian took the time before class to explain Droit (right) and Gauche left). This was EXTREMELY helpful with both my partner and I not speaking French. We didn't understand the majority of what was being said, but he did a great job keeping the energy up. Other clients were cheering throughout the class, and you could feel Florian's continuous energy inspiring others throughout the class. SPACE: The spin room was very congested compared to what some might experience in the US. My partner could not even slide his seat back because it was hitting the handlebars of the bike behind him. This didn't ruin the vibe of the class, but it was definitely handlebar to handlebar. There were some bright flashes of light during class, but it was mainly stage lighting (white/yellow), and blackout with a lantern/mini light that Florian carried around. The locker room area was wonderful! It had all that I needed so I could come and work out, but still, get dressed back up and get ready to head back to our Air BNB afterward. Over all this was a GREAT experience! The spin room size was the only thing that held me back from a 5-star rating, but that is also comparing it to a boutique cycling studio in the US (so not necessarily a fair comparison). Definitely a place to stop if you want to get your cycling on in Paris.

If you've ever taken a Soul Cycle class or something similar, you will have no problem following along. The format is not exactly the same and in my opinion there is significantly less choreography, but overall a great option if you're wanting to get a workout in and are missing your local spin studio. They let you borrow shoes at the studio and the pedals are Delta Clips only, no SPD option if you choose to bring your own shoes.

LOVE! I went to the Lafayette location. The studio staff was super nice and showed me around the…read morestudio. The instructor made it a point to introduce himself in the lobby. He had lots of energy from the moment I walked in the door. Class was fun EVEN THOUGH I half of it was in French, the energy created still made for a great experience. I will say he made a couple of jokes in English so that was also nice. The actual flow of class was great too! A song to warm up, a couple of challenging songs, a recovery song, etc etc. He was on and off the bike an appropriate amount of times (I'm picky about this since I'm an instructor too and believe you have to set up your room for success). Some of the rooms look dark and a bit depressing, and some of the equipment are ancient (albeit still functioning well), but hey, which gym has so many machines, a steam room, dry sauna, and a swimming pool? A guard makes sure you have a swim cap and body-hugging wear (no shorts or trunks) before entering the pool, although I saw someone wearing something that looked like a Uniqlo Airism brief. They provide a single towel for both gym and shower, and you should bring your soap and shampoo.

Well, after weeks of closing (without refunding or compensating its members), this gym has undergone several major makeovers. They opened a huge biking section (Cycle Club XIII) a year ago, and they also opened a crossfit gym (not free - costs a lot extra in addition to the 80 or 90 euros you pay monthly to access this gym), and they also redid some of the studios downstairs for group classes. Was that enough? No, not really. The rest of the gym is kind of falling part and super old. (They built the gym over an old movie theater). At one point last year, water was constantly leaking from the swimming pool and everyone in the cardio room feared for our lives thinking that the upper level pool was gonna cave the ceiling in on us. It seems that they spent all the money we give them on improving sections which will give them more money (the Cycle Club - which has some classes which cost extra, and which attracts outside members, as well as the crossfit box). The equipment at the gym is old and outdated. Some of the machines may be broke. The air conditioner is old af and barely works (well also this is France, you can't really expect AC but come on, it's a gym). There is basically NEVER hot water at the showers. Keeping this in mind, I always try to plan my gym trips here around times when I know I can slip back home and shower, because no, I'm not a fan of ice cold showers in the middle of winter. The gym sits there and lies to our faces saying that the cold water problem comes from the Italie 2 shopping mall it's linked to but noone is stupid and we don't fall for that. I've gotten my hair done at the hair salons in the mall and they all have hot water and agreed that the excuse given is crazy. Call me crazy, but I think that for 90 euros a month, hot water could be expected to be included in that price? I usually come to do classes here, and on several occasions, I have arrived only to find that the class is cancelled but no heads up was given. There is a Facebook group for the gym, and they very easily could have let people known with a simple post. At one point last year, there was extreme flooding (a pipe burst) in the downstairs area and the class studios and entire downstairs section were closed for a few days. At another time, there was perhaps I think some sort of vandalism in the cycle club area if I remember correctly, and thus the biking studio was closed for nearly a week (as a repercussion). I mean if you were counting on doing classes and/or going biking, that could be a huge inconvenience. I guess like any gym, this place can get super extra crowded after work, which kinda sucks, but is to be expected. The best part about this gym are the coaches, who for the most part, seem to love what they do and know how to motivate and inspire. That and the convenient location for me are what keep me coming back despite the fact that this isn't my favorite CMG.

The lady working there was also very rude. I told her I was only 3 minutes late and as a few minutes passed arguing with her, she said "actually, you are 5 minutes late", very arrogantly. Not an environment I would return to after this experience.
