I was told that it'll be a day or two before they could look at it. I called on Friday ( 5 days now) I was told that they checked it and was told the same issues I originally told him. I called back in one week (11days now) and was told that the same but with a quote finally. On day 13, I walked there (I live close) and took it to another shop. It was fixed in one day and a half for $680 less than Mike's would have charged. I'm convinced that Mike' automotive is taking advantage of Collinsville. Be Aware!

However, I want to save anyone else the frustration we had. Lots of money spent. 5 weeks wasted. Car still didn't run right. Here is what happened: November 2025 Our 2018 Chevy Trax was losing power and had a check engine light come on. My husband called Mikes about a week before Thanksgiving 2025. He said he was busy, due to the holiday ... understandably, and he wouldn't be able to get to it until Dec 1. No problem. So, we dropped the vehicle off on Sunday, November 30 via their drop box. Monday - Friday (Dec 1 - 5) no update on our car. We figured, he told us he was busy ... ok. We will show grace. Dec 8 - After having to contact them, not them contacting us - we were told it had a cracked turbo and possibly an issue with the catalytic converter, but they would not be able to determine that until they took it apart and was able to asses that. They quoted us A LOT OF $$$ for the repair. They got the go ahead to fix the turbo and to contact us about any other impending issues. On Thursday, Dec 11 my husband called them to find out what was going on (again, no contact from them). Turns out the parts had been received and work was being done. Although, zero update from them. They claimed to be really busy. They let us know that the catalytic converter seemed unfazed. We picked up the vehicle at 4:00 on Friday, December 12 and paid the bill. Within 2 days the check engine light came back on. We dropped it back off for more assessment. On Friday, December 19 I sent a frustrated text to the technician. Another week had went by without any communication or resolution. We were told it was probably sensors, which they replaced without charge. They told us to pick the vehicle up via drop box. Which we did, that evening. Within 2 hours the check engine light came back on. According to them they were able to "drive it multiple times" without issue. Once again we dropped the vehicle off. Then it was Christmas and they were closed most of the week. They thought they "fixed it" and asked us to pick it up on New Years Eve. The very second we started the car is was making a very bad knocking sound. It was unmistakable and not normal. It was not making that sound at all until in possession of Mikes automotive. They told us they wanted us to drive it for the weekend to see how it sounded and felt. The sound was immediately very bad. But, it was after hours and no technician was there, and they told us to drive it, so we drove the car home. It continued to make a very concerning ticking / knocking sound. After a couple hours of driving it, the engine started smoking. After contacting Mikes, yet again, they asked us to drop the car off, yet again. So, we took it up there on Monday, Jan 4. At this point, these people have had my car for 5 weeks, charged us a lot of $$$ and it still doesn't work. I am left to question if the turbo even needed to be replaced. My husband gave them the benefit of the doubt ... once again. He was told we will get back to you. Day one ... nothing. Day two, my husband sent a text with some "blah blah" answer. Day 3, nothing. Day 4. Another week has come and gone without them reaching out, giving an update ... nothing. My husband called them on the afternoon of Friday, Jan 9, around 4:00 pm to be told that they would like him to come to the shop and determine if he is still hearing the "knocking sound" we have described. He was at work and could not go. My husband called me and asked if I could. My daughter had to leave for work and since we are down a car, we could not go. So, we asked them to leave our key in their night time drop box. Then we were told that there was "an emergency" and that the technicians had to leave the garage and our car is still hooked up to machinery in their garage. So, we cannot get our car. A technician went up there on Sunday, Jan 11 to get our car out of the shop. They did not contact us so we could come up at listen to it. They just put the key in the drop box to be picked up. On the drive home the clicking / knocking sound began again. By the time we pulled into the driveway the engine was smoking and it was leaking some kind of liquid. My husband texted a video of the sound and smoking. He was told that ... yeah, it's the water pump leaking, like we told you on Friday. We were not told that. We have a record of every single text at this point because of how discouraged we are. If that was the issue, why were we not told that (after another week in their possession) and given the opportunity to fix it. At this point I have zero faith in their ability to fix this car. It has become increasingly clear that they do not WANT to fix this car. We had to take it somewhere else and it was fixed in a day. They owe me a refund.

I've been using Buzz's for years and wouldn't take my vehicles anywhere else! I've even gotten…read moreeveryone in my family to use them. Their customer service is on point, you will always pay what is quoted or below, and yes, they always call before doing a service, after diagnosing your car to make sure it's something you can afford, and if it's not, they might even give a Band-Aid option if there is a Band-Aid option to give. I've worked with every mechanic throughout the years, with different cars when my main mechanic. (Jeff, who deserves an awesome review of his own) is unable to get my car or one of my kids cars in and I need it fixed ASAP and have yet to have a single bad experience in the 14 years I have been using them. They are very decently priced, (except on oil changes, because with their expertise, you're gonna be paying a little bit more than Valvoline, that's just how mechanic shops work though), and don't try to sell you more than what you need. They get your car in, they diagnose your issue and they fix it after you consent to having it fixed. They're so great that they don't even have to advertise, because word of mouth and their reputation in Collinsville speaks for itself. Sometimes you might have to wait a week or two to be able to get your car in, because they are that good, but once they get your car in, you will have it back within a day or two (and that's only cause they have to wait for parts). You are their number one customer when your turn comes up and they are worth the wait if you can hold out. I think the longest I've ever had to wait though was a week and a half to get a car in, and in emergent situations, (like when my dad's truck died and he had the only working vehicle for himself and my 93-year-old grandmother to get around in), they fit you in same day/next day, in between other appointments,, to make sure you have a working vehicle. Now that just might be because they knew my father by then and knew his situation, but that's also what you get with a small town auto shop is familiarity. I have multiple cars, so I'm willing to wait a few weeks for them to fit me in and wait for Jeff since he knows my personal vehicle the best as he's the one who's worked on it since the day I bought it. Admittedly, I am probably one of the reasons why it takes a week or two to get your car in, because I am the person people turn to when looking for a service because they know I've vetted the area and have already picked out the best of the best, so when I get asked about auto repair, I send them to Buzz's, so I probably shot myself in the foot with getting my car in within a few days, like it was when I first moved here a decade and a half ago, lol. But I promise you, they are worth it. Trust them, because out of all the places I've lived (used to be military family), and all the mechanics I've had to use throughout my 30+ years of car ownership, they are the one place I would say I trust completely. I'd also like to point out that I am a very tiny, dainty female, who looks like she would be taking advantage of at a mechanic shop, but thankfully, my father taught me enough about cars to know when a fast one's being pulled over on me, and yes, I have had to deal with that in the past with different mechanics, but never once at Buzz's, with any of their mechanics, have I had that happen. So when I say you can trust them, I mean, 100% you can trust them with your vehicle and know you are getting the best value, for what you need fixed, and it will be fixed completely and in the best way possible, to fix your needs and budget

Best mechanics and service around ! A great experience thanks to Scott and the guys . I'll be back !read more
