I stopped by Foundry 317 during a recent jaunt through Broad Ripple during unseasonably warm temps…read more I parked my car and just enjoyed wheeling around the area for a bit. Foundry 317 is along the canal right on Westfield Boulevard. Foundry 317 focuses on home decor and furniture. I clearly arrived right at the tail-end of the holiday season and a good number of the items either had a holiday theme or fit within the holiday season. Items included antiques, one-of-a-kind furniture pieces, festive accents, candles, and other overall housing items. Foundry 317 has a parking lot, though I was actually wheeling there. There's a small ramp up to the sidewalk if you approach it from the right (facing Foundry 317). The doorway is pretty workable and I found the interior to be surprisingly accessible (though I will admit I was taking extra caution given some of the prices!). As I was wheeling, I knew it was pretty unlikely I'd actually buy anything on this visit as it would have been difficult to carry back to my car. However, I definitely saw some items I loved and can easily see myself returning in the near future. The employee I encountered was friendly, the environment was warm and inviting, and I really loved some of the smaller items. I'm a candle freak and definitely would like to return for those. I've always found this section of Westfield Blvd. a little hit-and-miss. The sidewalk is kind of cracked and it's somewhat uneven, however, there's much to love here and I loved the efforts toward accessibility. This is definitely a little gem. I'd seen it before, however, I've never been by when they were open. I finally got the chance to visit, and I'm definitely impressed. I'll be back.

With the ongoing renovation of Nora Plaza, it would appear this up-and-coming shopping center has…read moreattracted at least a couple premium retailers from the nearby Fashion Mall. The first to open is West Elm, a premium home furniture and furnishings store offering furniture, outdoor/garden, rugs, bedding, bath, lighting, pillows/decor, kitchen/dining, gifts, and more. This is definitely a more premium store, though the price range varies more than you might expect. West Elm was in the Fashion Mall for quite some time, however, that location closed and this one popped up. It would appear that Williams Sonoma, a sister retailer, will be joining them in Nora Plaza soon. I first became acquainted with West Elm because of their sustainability practices and the fact that a friend of mine utilized them often because she has a lot of environmental allergies and has generally had good experiences with West Elm items not triggering those allergies. When she had a baby, my gifts to her came from West Elm and I quietly became a fan. As soon as I realized that West Elm was going to open up in Nora Plaza, I began watching. It took me longer than expected to get here because winter has been a beast and I'm getting old. This shopping center has been somewhat controversial during their renovation as they've essentially booted out some smaller retailers. It's clear they're aiming for a more premium shopping experience and will also have a couple new restaurants opening soon here in addition to Williams Sonoma. Bluemercury also recently opened up here. Accessible parking is pretty decent here. There were a couple spots directly in front of West Elm, though I ended up parking down a bit to make sure I had room for my wheelchair. The front entry had the usual glass doors - it did seem one was a bit sticky. As you enter, you're immersed in sustainability. It's a warm and inviting atmosphere and it's definitely a LOT more space than was offered at The Fashion Mall. The employees definitely dress better here (I will admit that as a slob I felt a bit out of place). I wanted to look around and I also had my eye on some holiday items that I knew were on clearance. Employees were helpful but not overwhelming. The first thing I noticed was the accessibility of the interior. It felt really well thought out. While there are some spots that might prove challenging for a bigger power chair, I was easily able to get everywhere I wanted to get. Everywhere. It was so noticeable that I actually made sure to compliment the staff and say "thank you." I actually noticed there was one spot that would not have been accessible - when an employee saw me headed that way, she made it accessible. WOW. I ended up only buying a couple holiday ornaments this time around. I'm pretty sure they don't get too many $8 sales, however, I was treated warmly and with respect throughout my visit and one of the employees even opened the door on my way out. Genuinely impressive visit throughout. I really love this location and this was just a great experience in every way - accessibility, customer service, quality items, and I was able to get exactly what I wanted. There's no doubt I'll be back as I saw a few items of interest including candles, some kitchen wares, and possibly a lamp. I'm also really intrigued by their platform beds. I look forward to returning in the near future.

This location in Nora is much larger that it looks from the street. There are two buildings and the outdoor spaces is packed with healthy, beautiful plants. The front building is a gift store with garden-themed home decor, jewelry and other items. The rear building has house plants, pottery, plant care chemicals, bird food and houses and more. I asked about controlling bugs on one of my house plants. The clerk was knowledgable and asked a few questions and diagnosed my problem as spider mites. She offered a few options and made a recommendation for spray that I could try. This is the kind of service that you won't get in a big box store. I also picked up several fun greeting cards. The prices are good. Every area that I visited, someone greeted me and asked if I needed help. I love this place and recommend for garden and gift needs.
