We had our first meeting with Kathy (Interior Designer) within a few days of contacting them. She came out to our home, talked with us about our needs and ideas, and took rough measurements right then and there so she could get started on renderings, material selection, and planning. Within a week, we were in her office reviewing a detailed, accurate work order that was nearly spot-on with our vision -- and at a price lower than we had anticipated! After answering what must have been a million questions from us over the next week or two (and letting us review other materials in the showroom), we came almost full circle back to Kathy's original design. Kathy was patient, kind, and quick to address all our needs as we worked through the initial planning process. Once we officially signed with AKB, it was less than a month before our project was scheduled and the dumpster arrived. Our lead carpenter, Pat, arrived the following morning and got to work right away. Outside of the electrician and plumbers, Pat was our main tradesperson for the project--from tear-out to tiling, he was skilled in all areas. Since I work from home, I was able to greet Pat each morning and talk over the day's work. He also showed a great deal of patience and kindness as I asked questions about the project, materials, techniques, and more. And since he was here for over a month, I got to learn more about him and his family. It was genuinely nice having him here each morning, putting his years of experience to work as he rebuilt our bathroom from the ground up. His dedication to his trade truly speaks for itself--our bathroom turned out amazing! Overall, we are very pleased with our remodeling experience with Allen Kitchen & Bath. Everyone we interacted with was kind, patient, knowledgeable, and engaging. Our bathroom turned out better than we could have imagined--the shower is our favorite part!

The scope of the project grew as we realized that we needed more things done in the house before we could move in, which included: installing several interior and exterior doors, removing and reinstalling a built-in set of drawers, installing and fixing flooring, removing a built-in wet bar in the basement, doing some work in a bathroom so we could put in a new vanity and bathtub, removing a wall between two rooms so one could be turned into a walk-in closet, making a small alcove into a closet, stripping down a door to be refinished, making shelf supports for our long pantry shelves so they don't bow from the weight, and helping fix a basement leak that was due to the prior owner not properly fastening his deck to the foundation. I am sure there some things I am forgetting, but the bottom line is that Patrick and Chris were always up to doing what we needed done. They were on time, professional, friendly and easy to work with. Patrick was great about providing quotes for all of the work, and had very reasonable prices. In addition, when I needed a contractor for something that he couldn't do, he knew someone in the area he could recommend, and those recommendations (of which there were several for: roofing, plumbing and tile work) worked out great. My wife and I appreciate the great work that Patrick and Chris did, and would highly recommend them for any type of construction project - whether it's big or small.

By lucky chance we met Liam as he left a neighbor's project. He agreed to "take a look". His proposal was everything we wanted. He removed drawers next to our sink, eliminating the need for additional plumbing. There was room for a dishwasher and pullout pantry storage. THEN moved the drawers to the outer wall and suggested a butcher block top. He also suggested a panel ready dishwasher, so the front matched the rest of our cabinets. We hired him on the spot. Then, we threw Liam a curve. A ReStore find for the butcher block, not only for the "island" but for our counter. His grace in shifting gears and the finishing work he did on the counter made working with him a pleasure. PLUSES: We love the results. The dishwasher has changed our lives. An surprise fix Liam tackled was setting up the under-sink plumbing so our retractable faucet hose no longer snags on the pipes.
