Do not bring your clock here…read more David fixed a clock for me before & I was happy. Now I am broken hearted! Before I came in I'd read someone else's review that the service of gone downhill but I figured maybe they were just impatient with the older generation....it turns out David is very knowledgeable about clocks but absolutely not able to run his business anymore. I gave him my family heirloom, a German cuckoo clock. It needed new bellows. I brought it in in August 2018. I called back every 2 to 3 weeks at David's request when he said it wasn't finished. Because he so rarely answers the phone I actually came into the store three times to check the status as well. Not done. It's been too long so I came in yesterday with a box and money to pick up the clock in whatever state it was in. Except that it wasn't. It wasn't here. My clock wasn't here... he had a cuckoo clock but what comes out of the doors of this the clock is not the same as what came out of the doors of mine. I'm kicking myself that I didn't take pictures because David said that he didn't trust young memories. I had to get my 81-year-old mother on the phone from out of state to describe what came out each door of my clock. Those pieces are not in his shop. He put it in someone else's clock or gave it to someone else who is less familiar and didn't know. Then he proceeded to pull up a cuckoo clock catalog, flipped through it and showed me that there are no cuckoo clocks with a dancer coming out the door as both my mother & I described. My family had this clock for 60 years and it went off every hour for the 22 years I lived at home. I am not misremembering. If you got a cuckoo clock from David that looks like yours on the outside but it has a yellowish bird in the left door and a dancing couple in the right door and you don't recognize those pieces, please reply to me so that we can swap pieces at my expense. I just want me memory & heirloom back. I'm heartbroken that my clock is gone. We never did find three matching weights for a cuckoo clock that fit this clock body so evidently those have been given away to someone else too. I was so irritated but try to be patient knowing that David is somebody's father and husband. He tried to give me back the pieces of my clock that he keeps in a tin foil bread loaf pan. I asked him if he could please put the contents of that cup into a baggie for me and he argued with me that a metal loaf pan is not the same as a cup. Oh brother! I paid him for the parts that he ordered ($30 for bellows) and then he insisted I shouldn't keep my claim check. I told him he didn't need to write me a receipt for the $30...and then he proceeded to argue with me for two minutes about whether or not a claim check could be considered a receipt or not. I spent 75 minutes here today in Operation Rescue My Clock. And I lost. Sadly. David has a stack of mail on the floor he's completely disorganized & he's argumentative. I wish it was different because he has a passion and good knowledge about clocks. Do not bring anything you value here!

Our family has had clocks repaired by Dave on numerous occasions over the past few decades and had…read moregreat luck. However our last experience has been a nightmare. Over a year ago Dave came to clean my parents grandfather clock. He said that it required being taken apart and taken to shop for further work. So we let him do this. After a couple months time with no word from Dave I gave him a call to see how the work was progressing. There was no answer so I left a voicemail. This went on for several months me calling no answer voicemail no return call. Finally after about nine months he picked up the phone and I asked about o'clock. He became enraged and indignant that I was concerned about the clock and his lack of communication with my parents over this family heirloom. At that time I asked that he returned the clock and we would find someone else to fix it. I would pay him for his time and effort's and my parents would get the clock back. He said he would return on the following Wednesday. That Wednesday came and went Dave never showed up never called. Again I called left messages no return calls. Now it's been over a year and I still am unable to get a hold of Dave he's not called me he's not explain why he's had the clock for so long and my mother is left wondering if she'll ever get her grandfather clock back. David's been a good mechanic for many years and I'm afraid with this last experience we will not only not go to him again but I will strongly recommend people not take valuable clocks to him to be repaired.

My experience with Hurdle's has been nothing short of exceptional. We visited several jewelry…read morestores during our search, but ultimately decided on a custom piece. After researching multiple custom jewelers, we chose Hurdle's, and I am so glad we did. From the start, Aria was incredible. She not only answered all of our questions but also took the time to educate us on the different qualities to look for in various stones. Hurdle's has a great relationship with their ring makers, which made the process seamless. I found a ring design I loved and wanted to modify, and they provided multiple modification options--from their in-house team and the ring maker. The wax model they created was a game-changer, helping me visualize the final product perfectly. My engagement ring turned out so beautifully that I trusted them with two other custom projects for my wedding. For my wedding necklace, I wanted to use the stone from my proposal ring. I asked for recommendations on how to add interest without overshadowing the main stone, and they delivered stunning designs. I also worked with Haley to create a custom wedding band. Like Aria, Haley was incredibly helpful, offering suggestions and sharing her extensive knowledge of different stones, settings, and metals. I was more indecisive with the wedding necklace and wedding band design, going back and forth on several ideas. Haley was exceptionally patient, listened to my evolving vision, and helped me narrow it down while managing my expectations. The result is a both a wedding necklace and wedding band I absolutely adore. My fiancé is equally impressed with their knowledge and service, so much so he purchased his wedding band from them too! I highly recommend Hurdle's for any custom jewelry needs. I recommend seeing them sooner rather than later to make sure you have time to work on the design, make changes, and have it made. The pieces they have made for me are not only beautiful but also deeply meaningful. In addition to their custom work, I've had them repair several of my pieces. When one of my earrings needed a small fix after a recent repair, they took care of it on the spot. I am confident that even if we move away, we will be customers of Hurdle's for many years to come.

Some of their employees will only go off hallmarks instead of taking the time to test precious metals using other testing methods. They did not do any kind of buyout process for the stones in the pieces I melted either. In addition, they lack options to create a custom piece. They only had one fine chain option in gold, which was surprising. I decided not to go that route and instead ordered a designer piece. I waited around for about two months to hear for them. I finally called and was informed there had been an issue with the piece, and it had to be remade, yet no one could tell me why. When the remake came in, it was not what I had discussed with the owner. I opted for another designer piece, but they didn't have it in the length I wanted. They told me they could order it but that I would have to commit to it without even seeing the stone first. I contacted the designer directly and found out that the piece was a standard option on their website and that if I ordered through them, I wouldn't have had to commit if I didn't like the stone. It was too late for me to order directly as HJ had already added the extra length. I should have reached out to the designer sooner. I was charged a hefty labor fee for a minor adjustment to the chain. They made no mention of the labor fee and then claimed they gave me a discount on labor as if they did me a huge favor. Most jewelers I've worked with offer complimentary resizing and minor adjustments when a minimum purchase is met. I was often talked down to and made to feel incompetent through my entire experience. HJ took no accountability for their actions during any of the interactions I had with them. I could have saved a few hundred dollars ordering directly from the designer due to Boulders' hefty taxes/fees and HJ's labor fee. I like to support small businesses, but I wouldn't support this one again.
