I honestly cant praise this school enough…read more My son was only a pupil here for just over a year, he has learning difficulties and behavioural difficulties, and he progressed here so well during his time there. The SENCO Karen Sheeran always put herself out to help resolve any problems that he had in school. The after school activities provided by the school were fantastic tyhings that the kids could really get into and enjoy. They have a free breakfast club serving healthy options to the children in the mornings and the school lunches consisted of a freshly made lunch of sandwiches, fruit and a drink due to the school not having its own kitchen. Though i do believe they have work in progress at the moment to build a kitchen in the school which will be a fantastic asset to an already fantastic school.

This is a wonderful school. Both my son and daughter are currently pupils and they love it, as do…read morewe. It's an environment that has allowed them to flourish without any pressure. This has meant they now have a love of learning that they will hopefully have for the rest of their loves. The school's exterior is a bit shabby but inside the classrooms the dedicated teachers are doing an amazing job.

The school holds many clubs for its pupils and has many clubs that attend regular events around the county. All the pupils that i know go there and have attended seem to find it as a happy caring school.

I have removed my previous review here…read more There's no question the standard of teaching at Gateways is excellent in many areas, the 6th form in particular. The issue is that there are gaps in a lot of what the school does. My children attended Gateways but all came away with very negative feelings and vowed never to send their children here should the opportunity appear. All of them suffered bullying - an issue which wasn't uncommon - about which little was done. In one instance the school had full knowledge of what was going on and took little action towards the perpetrators. In addition to this should any criticism be directed towards any member of staff the school is quick to protect whoever it is. Some staff members behaved in poor fashion towards one of my children during an incident on a school trip but at a meeting with senior teachers to discuss this it was denied that any problem took place so no action was taken. After my children left I arranged to meet the head of the school governors to address the issues my children suffered. He appeared responsive to the issues but after our meeting and an email from me thanking him for his time I heard absolutely nothing. That was my last contact with the school. That's poor on any level. The headmistress at the time of writing was also very unresponsive to issues I raised during my children's time at Gateways. So I'm left with very mixed feelings concerning the school. On reflection I wouldn't have selected Gateways as there are many other good options in the area.

She is noticed, her work paid attention to, her social interaction kept an eye on to ensure she is happy. I've had chatty calls from the school, just to check how she is getting on from my point of view! Fantastic!
