I use to go the Billings a lot and got them at his studio (which I recommend visiting if nothing else to get to talk to and get to know Harry). Since I don't have the opportunity to go see him any more, I look for his art on auction websites and even eBay. Since I almost never see his art for sale on the secondary market, I've concluded people want to hold on to his art because they enjoy it as much as we do.

What a surprising find in an off-the-beaten-path area…read more It's not really off-the-beaten-path, but it also isn't near an area of Billings that is replete with galleries of all kinds. It's a nice place to see works from local or area artists. The collections change with some frequency. Artists can lease a spot to display their art at a reduced rate in exchange for volunteering to work in the gallery for a couple of hours a week. That's also a great opportunity for the artists to be available to answer questions and talk about their own work. An artist wanting to have a showing in this gallery/coop sends a few pieces from their portfolio for review by a committee. I have the sense there may be some limitations on the number or kind of art at any one time, just to ensure some visual variety. With a mix of all medium, from brass, alcohol paint, water color, photography, wood, and more, there's always something new. On my most recent visit, I was able to spend time chatting with one of the artists about one piece in that collection -- a conceptual work of her cat. It was stunning. I also learned some of the artists here will accept a commission for a private work. What a way to get a one-of-kind gift for someone!

They are passionate about art and are great artists in their own right. I have some cherished pieces of artwork that I would only trust Bighorn to frame or repair for me. They are absolutely amazing at repairing frames and have saved me money when I thought I would have to replace the damaged frame.
