This place is a MUST GO TO if you're in Montana. I came to Montana for a wedding and since I didn't have much time to do anything - couldn't go to the actual Yellowstone, there aren't many activities with nature. I don't mind that tho. I love museums so much and this one was on my radar because I love art. And, they did not disappoint. For $3-7 (depending on student ID and such), you have access to the whole thing. SO CHEAP. Omg... I spent half the day there because I looked at EVERYTHING. And, I like to participate in the interactive. They has a place where you could "leave your mark" and draw on the wall. YES, I DID THAT. There was a place to create your own mixed media (papers, glue, etc) and I did. I MADE IT ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE because that shit is real. The artwork is stunning and I'm still moved by their collections. Jaune Quick-To-See Smith's exhibition was just beautiful. You could feel her struggles and frustrations and everything. The employees were so friendly. I ask a lot of questions. They were super patient. This place was clean and just so great to just spend half the day in. PARKING: I walked from my hotel, so I don't know how parking is.

When we had to spend more than 4 hours in Billings before our flight we thought...what can you do here? YAM was a great surprise if you really appreciate art. The place has a nice design and different expositions. For a small city like this, this was a jewel!

the building is also handicapped accessible.

Great pieces of art for a small museum. Has all contemporary art pieces and need to get the key to see the vault across the street.

Admission price seems a little pricey for what little there is to see. Sorry just my take on things

I was in Billings for a "business" trip but had some time to kill, and it was just a couple blocks from my hotel.

What a great little museum in down town Billings (across the street from the coolest pawn shop I…read morehave ever been in, btw!), so glad we decided to stop in! We were fortunate to get parking right up front although I'm sure it gets really tricky considering its down town. I appreciate the architecture, the building itself is really beautiful. There are 2 floors, the main floor has a couple of side rooms, and downstairs there was an area where little ones could color and try out a pair of maracas (these went along with the Hispanic heritage theme). There are stairs as well as an elevator so it is ADA accessible. I believe the cost was 5 dollars per adult, 3 for students and kids. Totally worth it, I'd recommend anyone to pay this museum a visit!

It was "just okay" as a Heritage Center…read more We're in town for a day and decided to check out the Western Heritage Center. We thought we'd see and learn quite a bit about western heritage and culture. And there was a bit of that here but not much. There was a large art installation and info on the life of Ben Steele, a former Japanese POW, turned artist and art instructor. We did enjoy learning about Mr Steele and his life. There was some information about Yellowstone National park but related mostly about bears. There was some information about Native American Indians. We paid $5 for one adult and $3 for one senior. We felt the price was about right and while we enjoyed learning about Mr Steele, we were left a bit puzzled about this Western Heritage Center.
