I am a loyal Yamaha owner and have had several Yamaha's over the years. I have a Bike I purchased…read morein NJ 40 + years ago and has served me well. I generally do all my own maintenance , how ever I have two occasions that really opened my eyes. The first one was when I was looking for some routine maintenance to be performed. So I spoke with the shop manager about adjusting my valves. Understand I know the process well and it can be time consuming. The reason I wanted them to do it was because I don't have all the shims I would need. The manager told me WE DON'T do that kind of work because we don"t have any one to do it. No one knows how to do it. Wow , I went on line and purchased a valve shim kit and did it myself. At the time I was a automotive Instructor so I used the bike as a class and did it at school. I guess routine maintenance is no longer for the button pusher generation, so sad. the second time was when I wanted to have a set of tires mounted and balanced. Granted this is a 1979 XS 1100 SF I purchased NEW and is road ready at a moments notice. this was explained to the manager and I was told they couldn't do it because the bike was too old so I ask if they could balance the wheels after I mount the tires and they would do that for a nominal fee. It's a sad state of affairs when a Dealer for a certain manufacturer( YAMAHA) can't and won't service a vehicle because they don't know how and won't because it's too old. I have met the Owner and his wife before and at the time he said that the bike I speak of looked Great and was proper for the time. I have purchased parts from the parts department and they are as helpful as they can be and have no problem at least giving me part numbers because they are no longer available from Yamaha. The women you speak of was as nice as she could be when me & My Wife were looking for a riding jacket for her. It's a shame that the part of the business that used to keep the company afloat is no longer. My credentials are as follows . ASE Master current. GM Master retired and 2 year Yamaha technician, Eleven year Automotive Instructor for Hamilton County Tennessee.

I have them 100 dollars, they have a 95 dollar cleaning fee well I has it spotless except the engine, the owner said bring it in if it's just the motor dirty we'll do it free of charge. So Cody' calls and says he can't sell the vehicle unless I pay him 200+ dollars stop install new brakes , but they sold it To me one month earlier in the EXACT same condition. After some words were said and the evil bitch that owns hung up on us several times, they told me after I'd drive from an hour away multiples time that i have to come back and get it. in Theory, since I bought it used, the previous owner should have paid for the brakes but it was Cody certified than, but when I try it set due to it having no brakes they try to make me pay for the brakes that should have already been on it. My child could've gotten seriously hurt. this store should own up to their wrong doing, I'm being scammed three rides around the yard wouldnt wear the brakes out at all. u wouldn't suggest this shop to anyone and wound up driving there hours to buy a Honda 90 that fuckin stops quicker than a car. Ive also heard of people dropping off their bikes for service, and then coming to stolen parts off the bike. These people are crooks, and good reviews are friends or family. good luck, horrible customer service. meth is a hell of a drug, selling a child a four wheeler with no brakes! what the hell people.
