I am an Uber driver. Yesterday I was driving on the freeway and ran over a tire in the road. After that, something from the bottom of my car was scraping on the pavement. I looked online for a mechanic near me and found Kirk's Auto. I explained my situation to the gentleman at the front desk. I assumed that this was Kirk. He said he could take a look at it in about five minutes. I appreciated this because time is money when I'm driving for Uber. Kirk solved the problem by getting some zip ties and securing the loose metal that was hanging from the bottom of my car. This took him about five minutes to complete, and he didn't even charge me. Kirk turned an awful experience into a good one. I will definitely be coming here for my car needs in the future. read more

I recently had my spare Dodge Caliber serviced at Kirk's, Northville and continue to have my Buick Envision serviced as needed. They provide a thorough auto service at reasonable rates and perform an assessment of additional needs your car may be in need of? Their service sheet lists the conditions of your vehicle and provides photographic proof of every item. They give you the conditions of almost every critical area of the car with services needed and dates for future repairs, if needed. I was donating the Dodge and wanted to make sure that it was in good condition for the Detroit Rescue Missions to give it away to the folks in need. The Kirk's service sheet was copied and provided for the new owners to have confidence that there were no major issues outstanding with this vehicle. I have had my cars serviced by Kirk's for about 3 or 4 years now and have never had them miss a single item or cause any problems for me. This place over charges an insane amount. They got us good a couple years back when I was more naive. My husband remembered they did work on our car and that they had loaners so he decided to take it to them to see about repairs. They quoted us $2950 to replace front and back struts, rear brakes, and an oil change. They also tried to wiggle in some wiper blades as an up charge. We had literally just replaced those maybe a month ago. Tops. I called around and got numerous other estimates for the same work ranging between $986- $1500. Not to mention I used the AAA auto repair cost estimator to get another ballpark estimate from a reputable source. The place we ended up choosing even offered to throw the oil change in for free. All this and they charged us $65 to look at the vehicle and give the estimate in the first place. What a bunch of crooks!!! read more

I have 2 situations with this place ... location is Plymouth and merriman in Livonia ... had a transmission issue on our SUV at 67000 miles, this outfit rebuilt / sent our trans for rebuild and charged us $3500 .. scroll forward our new trams lasted 27000 miles and here we are having to replace again. This guy who works there is offering us $500 off and crying I won't make any money off this repair but we still have to front up over 4K to fix. You would think they would do a little more considering the botched job to begin with. I shopped around because the part I needed to have replaced was a high price item. I knew it wasn't going to be cheap. I understand the supply chain issue; however, Kirk's Auto Care had my truck in for a month. At the beginning we discussed this part and and cost. I was told they "had connections" to get the part and that they could do better on the cost than the dealership. The cost changed with Kirk's saying they would be closer to the dealership price, I asked for a "worse case scenario" on cost. Upon picking up the vehicle the cost was $500 more than the worse case. My bad for not arguing about the added $500. Their bad for not communicating that to me. I was just happy to have my truck back after a month without. I'm sure most people have not had the experience I have. I would suggest anyone that needs a high cost repair get an estimate in writing and the amount of time to repair. read more

Brought vehicle in for a dead battery. They happened to find many more repairs that were needed. One of them was to change the cabin filter. I asked for the price of this and was quoted $99. I declined and bought one online for $12.49 and installed it myself. Installation took about a minute. read more

As a single dad it's hard to juggle work and life. My car needs a transmission. I call Paul at Kirks Auto. Coordinate to send my daughter there with the car to get the trans started. It was incredibly difficult for us to get the car there. When she arrives he gives her a bill for $300 to look at the car and sends her away. Doesn't take payment from me over the phone, doesn't call me, just wastes our precious time getting the car there. I am now a beacon of information for this situation forever. If your a female or a young person I advise going anywhere else on earth. We will, we will go anywhere else and pay thousands of dollars for this job to be done and this shop blew it for this customer and hopefully many more. read more

This is under new management as of 2019. These individuals are not to be trust at all. I have never had so many issues with BOTH of my vehicles since owning them every other month both vehicles had to be repaired two weeks apart. I've ever found missing parts that they left under the hood of one vehicle to hold a cover in place, while they use some form of green plastic holder to hold the cover in place and never said anything. Light indicator are on when the weren't before. They didn't honor a tire warranty by the previous owner, and gave me a slow leak damage tire. Since this shop change hands from tire one, staff that were there has since left within months. I won't be going back there and neither should you. I had a piece of plastic shielding hanging off of the bottom of my vehicle (still attached but hanging.. must have been a pothole or something that knocked it partly off). After multiple astoundingly disappointing trips (stories in themselves) to the dealership, it turns out the part was broken I had finally gotten the spare part I needed. I assumed that I'd have to go back, for the fourth time, to the dealership (the dealership is 35 minutes one way) so they could replace the broken hanging piece with the new part, but I decided that I didn't want to punish myself anymore by subjecting myself to the dealership, and called Kirk's Auto Care to see if they could help me. The receptionist immediately said of course we can take a look at it. I made an appointment for that day, and when I arrived they were able to take my car right into the shop (at the dealership I'd arrive on-time for my appointment and have to wait another 30 minutes before they even take my car back to look at it). After 30 or so minutes of pleasant chit chat with the receptionist, and waiting in a nice smelling room (plenty of plants and a wax melt) with fun Halloween decorations and a complementary coffee, the mechanic brings my car back around and says "your chariot awaits." I said amazing how much do I owe you? They said don't worry about it, IT'S FREE. I intentionally waited a few weeks from my appointment to write this review in case the part fell off again, and it has not. I paid $0 dollars and got pleasant company, a decent coffee, and quality car care from a licensed mechanic for, I say it again, free. If you need auto care, do yourself and favor and at least call Kirk'a Auto Care. What you need may not end up being free, but based on this experience they will do right by you and your car. $502 Dollars for an oil pain gasket leak repair. Dishonest and inflated hourly work from Livonia MI business. Claimed oil pan gasket was a 4 hour job. It's a two max estimated job. Hides 36.66 charge on bill for shop supplies. Took the to another shop down the street 220 Dollars. All actual supplies used where double the price. The owner Chris works hard to bury his bad reviews. I was a customer for over a year and was grossly overcharged. very fast to diagnose. the price for the repair was insane. Front stabilize links (2) over $500 to replace. had my wife who dropped the car off pick it back up wasn't paying that. Part at oreilys is under $80 and work time involved according to other mechanic is billed 0.8 hours. I called them back to make sure I heard the price correct and was told they use oem parts and shop fees were included in price. also told it would be cheaper if I preferred aftermarket parts. Also mentioned I could get a $25 coupon. Even with those changes that I wasn't initially offered it is way to much for such a simple fix. I'm from out of town and had a flat. They fixed my tire right away. This is the 5th shop I stopped at. They all said I had to make appointment. The craziest thing about this is that they REFUSED to let me pay for the repair. Let's face it. It's hard to find an honest mechanic that you can trust nowadays. First time I met the owner Chris was at his shop near the Riverwalk in Detroit (Straits Garage). I took my gf's (now wife) old Camry in due to a sticky gas pedal. A few hours later, I picked up the car, and Chris said it was a minor quick fix and did not charge me a dime. When was the last time an auto mechanic did not charge you for his time??? Later I found out that Chris currently runs Kirk's Auto Care so I had to take my business there. I'd like to start by saying, Jaclyn (the receptionist) was absolutely wonderful!! She was kind, understanding, patient and kept me informed the whole time my vehicle was in the shop!! These guys not only care about what they're doing but more importantly they care about their customers! They went above and beyond to help me get the best price to fix my vehicle! The mechanic that work on my vehicle even took the time to help me understand what was going on as well as give me other possible options that may of meant me having to fix the issue myself! The fact that they are willing to do that just proves they are more committed to the customers best interests. Boy did I ever have a dirty air and compartment filter! And they printed off the Subaru service schedule. I was overdue! Wish people would note their vehicle make on reviews. Then when the AC went out I came back and you said I need an evaporator core which would add up to over 1500.00. I went in for a diagnosis but they said couldn't perform it until I had an oil change & throttle cleaned $150 for that. They broke a valve said "if I can reach it without taking the manifold off, I'll do that for $140 & the diagnosis was $100. When I do the math, it was $400. Now $600! They seriously tried to rob me. Starting from the beginning. I broke down a hour from home. Limped into the place explaining I had the repair scheduled for the next day at $330. Simple job rear brakes on 2007 ion. They told me it was $585. When I explained they were crazy and way over priced she told me sorry I accidentally quoted you double on your shoes it's actually $50 cheaper and only $530.. I had called 3 other places and quoted at $330. ALSO when they called me they told me they needed to be replaced and less than 1 mm left on my shoes!!!!! So I took it to ERICS AUTO they told me there was 25% left and I only needed a hardware kit on my right side if I needed to get bye for a while I could. Less than a $100 to fix my problem. KIRKS AUTO IS A SCAM. THEY WILL ROB YOU EVERY CHANCE THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH!!! STAY AWAY!!! Oh yeah! I'm so pissed off about them trying to rob me that this is the first review I have ever posted!!! I took my car to Kirk's Auto Care when my brake pedal was going all the way to the floor. When I called, I spoke with Brad. For once I FINALLY found an auto repair place that actually LISTENS to what you have to say. Most places will hang up in your face or won't even let you get a word in to explain the situation, but Brad listened to my problem and answered all the questions and concerns I had. This places takes the time to fully explain the process and has effective communication with the customer. The front desk dude Brad is an awesome, however I recently learned he no longer works there, because a new opportunity opened up (good for him). Brad made the whole experience excellent and definitely earned my 3/5 stars regardless if Kirk's couldn't fix my problem or did something disastrous. Good customer service in the repair industry is key and makes the repair process enjoyable vs stressful. Initially I was worried about what this would cost, because I thought my problem may have been the master cylinder, which would cost a lot to replace. When they called me the NEXT DAY to explain why my pedal was going to the floor, it was actually caused by a rotted brake line. They thoroughly explained this to me and told me how much it would cost to get fixed. The quote they gave me was extremely reasonable, so I told them to go ahead with the repair. In just mere hours I get a call back and they already had it DONE! I always passed by this place, but never went to get service there for some reason, probably because I thought they costed too much, but they are reasonable. I would could have avoided many headaches with other places if I just went here first. When I got my vehicle back the brake pedal had pressure again and was not going all the way to the floor. After a few days of driving I noticed it didn't feel completely fixed, it felt mushy - maybe air in the lines I thought. I took it back to them and got a FREE oil change while I waited. The technician that worked on my car drove it around again and said it was OK, so they didn't do anything to it except change the oil. A few weeks later it stills feels just a little mushy, so I took it back again and had them do an inspection. They found one of my calipers was locked up on the drivers side, so they did something to it (can't remember what, I'd have to check paperwork). After they did this, the pedal feels much better. They explained to me that they don't drive the car every day so they wouldn't notice a minor thing like this, after all it would still stop and I had pressure, but it just didn't sit right with me. I'd give them five stars, however I just feel like they should have seen this when I first had my vehicle in and possibly cover it under warranty. The important thing is that this is fixed. Overall I would Highly recommend this place, its a great place to take your vehicle and I will bring them more business as I tend to have a lot of car problems. read more

Got an oil change based off of reviews and they certainly lived up to them! I've needed new tires for a while now and Brad, the GM was extremely helpful with picking them out. He flipped the screen around and showed me the cost of the tires, which is what they sell them to the customer for, rather than msrp. He recommended the best tires for me based off of application and quality, which I appreciated. I always get irritated when people just try to sell me something expensive with no substantial information. They have a small comfortable lobby to sit in. Not to mention, smiles all around. I'll definitely be back, and have already told multiple people about the place. Its on the corner of Merriman and Plymouth.
