It is the North's only 5* hotel, and yet it is not overpriced, with rates being less for B&B than some 3 and 4* city centre hotels. Parking is free of charge and the hotel is absolutely stunning. Set in acres of well kept golf courses, with a welcoming, winding main entrance, the hotel looks absolutely amazing. The inside is just as impressive with a marble entrance, doorman, piano room, champagne bar and luxurious dining room. The hotel has a large spa and gym with a full size swimming pool. Victoria Beckham had her hen night there, Elton John has stayed there, so as you can see it is popular with the posh set. The staff are extremely nice and the rooms are stunning. To the rear there are gardens with a decked seating area, large fountain and you often see partridge and squirrel running amongst the trees. I love it so much I am having my wedding reception and evening entertainments here - and I cannot wait. If you want a touch of true luxury then De Vere Oulton Hall is the only place in Yorkshire (or indeed the North) to go. It is perfect for a decadent weekend away or a very special occasion - and at Christmas and New Year it's themed (high class theming, not fancy dress!) events are always sold out. Don't be put off by the slightly higher price of the drinks (£4 - £5) as in the setting, they are well worth it. Everything is served in fine china, crystal glasses, and with the maximum of fuss (nice fuss). It is truly perfect and I cannot recommend it highly enough. 5 out of 5 for a wonderful 5* establishment.

Fantastic interiors in the main building, huge rooms, vast ceilings, sweeping staircases. . By all accounts, the building has not always been so grand; it was actually listed as derelict in 1974. In 1991 De Vere Hotels acquired the lease, rescued the Hall and apparently spent £20 million in the process on restoration and expansion, transforming it into the current 5* hotel set in its 300 acres of parkland, gardens, a 27-hole golf course and spa Downton Abbey eat your heart out! . Behind the old Hall, there are so many rooms you need a navigation aid, especially if they send you to room 276 round the back because you got it really cheap on LateRooms with so many beds to occupy, great bargains to be had in mid winter, definitely try your luck! . Breakfast a real treat, genuine full on service, wide choice of hot and cold, proper fruits and juices and a teapot with a spout that doesn't dribble and drip all over the table cloth corr blimey, great. . Absolutely recommended.

But whilst talking to someone after Leeds West Indian Carnival he recommended the hotel. 'you know the owners. They used to own that delicatessen near your house.' that did it. I temebered the nice couple whohsed to serve Goyer cheese and salami. I also got my favourite polish caramel sweets from there. So i booked and got a lift there within half hour. They were welcoming and as friendly as I remembered them from 1972. Booking in was so good My bags were carried upstairs and i was wished good night. I watched tv for half an hour then settled in the cosy bed with pretty flowered bedding. I slept through till 7. A rarity for me. I felt at home.Breakfast at 8.30 was a wonderful experience in a spacious restaurant. I had a spoonful of each cereal and the milk was brought in a small jug. Personal service making me feel special. Toast was brought in on a plate and tea in a teapot. My breakfast was well cooked and on an oval plate.they asked if everything was ok, did I need anything else. I was even offered another pot of tea in case the other was cold. They took time to have a conversation when I said I used to buy ham salami and cheese from them. I Mentioned my favourite sweets too. I then went back to bed for half an hour. The other staff were as friendly as the owners. They allowed me to watch tv and charge my phone in the lounge though it was past checking out time. Everyone was So calm and relaxed. And someone even send them some flowers. All in all it was a wonderful experience and i can't wait to-do it again.
