I was referred to Dr.Scott by my dentist, for my wisdom teeth removal & extraction of a molar. I went in for a consultation, and Dr. Scott answered my questions and was nice. I received a treatment plan and estimated cost...and I scheduled my surgery.
I went in the morning of my surgery, paid, and had a perfectly smooth surgery.
So, for THAT part of the experience, I guess I could give 4 stars. However, I am rating my experience as a whole...
I went home and followed the post-op instructions and everything, and was doing alright. I found it odd though, that they don't schedule follow-ups after an oral surgery. I mean, wouldn't it be a good idea to check on the healing process and make sure everything is going okay? I thought at least maybe a nurse would call and see how I was doing...nope, guess not. (The dentist I go to PERSONALLY calls after every little filling, now that's great customer service!)
Fast forward a month: I go to my general dentist to have a cleaning, because I am about to get braces put on- and she sees a small piece of bone back where one of my wisdom teeth was removed...she tried to gently pluck it out, but it wasn't coming out easily- so she told me to call Dr.Scott and go see him about it. I called Dr.Scott's office, and they made an appt. to see me that afternoon.
I got there and the nurse took me back, and looked in my mouth, saw the piece of bone- and put a topical anesthetic on...then got out her tool to remove it. She couldn't get it out. So, she said she would go get Dr.Scott and have him do it...I wait for a few minutes, and she comes back and says "Dr.Scott said just to leave it in there...maybe it will come out on it's own, or the tissue will just grow over it."
Uhh....he doesn't maybe wanna LOOK at it? I took time outta my day, came all the way over, had my husband stay home with the kids- so he could just shrug it off without even looking at me...thanks so much.
So, I was really feeling like he was perfectly nice when he wanted my MONEY, and as soon as he got it...he wasn't really interested in my well being.
And to really put "the icing on the cake", I looked at my insurance info at home and it said my patient portion should have been $300, but I paid them $600. So, my husband called and asked why exactly we paid them double- and the receptionist said "oh, you have a $300 credit here with us, because Dr. Scott didn't end up doing the ridge preservation procedure." FIRST of all, no one ever even bothered to TELL me that he didn't end up doing this procedure on me, second- so, apparently they were just gonna pocket that money, and wait to see if I asked about it? REAL professional.
Yeah...I think when the time comes to get my dental implant done, I'll go somewhere else. read more
