Three stars for my first experience at Drewes. Now I say first experience for a reason as I will…read moremost definitely be back to see why exactly my friend raves so much about this place. First off, as an expat I have to say that I love the range of British products that can be found in the shop; lemon curd, vegetarian mincemeat (not to be mistaken with minced meat), shortbread etc. etc.. Secondly, I really enjoyed my Chocolate Chip Cookie Latte, the foam was even flavoured well! And to round it up, I really like their salad dressing. Now for the dislikes. ~ Iceberg lettuce. ~ You can order whole grain bread (yay!) but that's not really clear from the menu. We ended up with white bread only to hear and see five minutes later that someone else was ordering whole grain bread which looked pretty darn amazing. Sad times for us. ~ When a menu says tosti with cheese, ham, sun dried tomatoes and salad, we expect a tosti with the first three items on it and the salad on the side. We don't expect a ham and cheese tosti with a side "salad" of iceberg(!!!!) lettuce and sun dried tomatoes. So, for now, three stars but I'll be back for round two!

This place consists of a small store where you can buy all kinds of very nice things (I liked the huge chunks of chocolate which come with a hammer to break it :) ) and a couple of tables where you can enjoy coffee with snacks or lunch.

It was quite crowded when I arrived but I was still able to find a seat in the lower level for my laptop and I. The music was a little loud for my taste, but I popped in my headphones which helped. I first ordered an iced cappuccino, which tasted great, but the serving glass was very small, so I ended up ordering another drink, the cappuccino caramel crumble, which came with a lot of sweet cream and chocolate chips on top! Friendly service and free wifi, but I don't think I would come back to study. Note: they do not accept Visa!

The cafe recently opened near the Hoofddorplein and is already getting very popular with the locals. I totally get why, since Bert makes a delicious coffee and is also a very cool guy who is in for a little chat. The good reputation of their Antwerp location also does not hurt at all. Antwerp location? Well yes, Caffènation is a much loved coffeeshop in Antwerp. We are very lucky that Bert fell in serious love with a Dutch girl because that is what brought him here! And now he owns the Caffènation location here in Ansterdam. Cool stuff right? Coffee lovers will really enjoy the big drinks menu at this place which offers a lot of different choices like cappuccino and espresso but also more adventurous drinks like a 'Ginger Spice' or a 'Bitter Moon'. Last few times I went with a flat white (like usual, they are my favorite!) and that tasted great. The space is quite big and has a lot of cosy spots to sit. You can even come over with a group of friends since in the downstairs area are a lot of seats. Great right?! Not so crowded like most city center spots and a way nicer and more personal vibe. I can imagine this place would do great for working or studying as well. Just go soon because i'm sure this place be discovered by the big crowds soon!
