Wow, what a surprise!
Driving back from Austria, we were…read morehungry and drove off the autoroute to discover the tiny town of Wil and this amazing restaurant L'Olivier.
The restaurant is in a traditional Swiss Gast Haus style of building, but upon entering you are transported to an exotic land, fragrant and softly lit not like a Swiss restaurant, but like arriving in an Oriental land.
A family business, the Chef welcomed us from the terrace and confirmed the free parking in his lot. Speaking French, Swiss German, German and English to us table side, we were welcomed and a delicious bean appetizer arrived. The son is the server and made us feel at home. The wife, husband and son really make this an experience that is unique.
The meal was Tunisian Chicken and it was accompanied by warm humus cakes, simple yet probably one of my most favorite meals in Switzerland.
As we departed, we sprinkled ourselves with rose water, a wonderful scent of a most memorable meal in an unexpected town, Wil.
I highly recommend L'Olivier!
