Something that bothers me with French people (France and Quebec) is that none of their business…read morehours are correct. I've come to believe that they start when they're ready to work, which at Les Bols de Jean it's 11:45am. However they did allow me to wait inside until the girl is ready to take orders. When she's ready, I ordered: 1) chicken coconut curry with pineapple!!! Thick pieces of chicken, light coconut flavour, soft curry taste, and sweet pineapple together. Turned out to be sooooo good together with the bread. Without the bread it's pretty boring! 2) ground beef with creamy creamy creamy bechamel gratinée, eggplants that actually didn't destroy the soup (I don't like eggplants so I'm sensitive to the taste), sweet onions. This also taste really good with the bread! The buns are freshly baked each morning and delivered from the bakery of Eric Kayser. The menu changes daily. That explains all the preparation they do in the morning thus not being able to take orders. Both soups were made to taste perfect with the toasty bun. The soft crispy bread definitely makes a difference!! It completes the creamy thick soup SO MUCH. It's not a runny liquid soup as I thought. It's more like a bread bowl with lightly flavoured and creamy sauce. Together it's really good. Staff is on and off nice. Generally nice people! Customers are not nice.

Yay!) I had the tomato & ricotta bowl (€8, veggie) and the beef chef bowl (€13 - a kind of hachis parmentier). I liked the veggie one better, but that's down to personal preference - my boyfriend enjoyed the beef. Only downside: they don't offer all their desserts in delivery, only fruits - and my €3.50 apple and pear compote was not great, too sugary and not homemade.

Upon walking up a say this guy's burger that was humongous. I said that this is the place for me. We wanted to sit inside because the wind had picked up and I believe it was like 70. The had an entire section in the back not occupied. But couldn't -I think they were short handed. I order the Favorite -DOUBLE STACK and Root Beer and the Crazy Chicken Sandwich . The DOUBLE STACK was so fresh and juicy. The fries that came with them were skinny (ones I like) were good a few a little cold but good. I found out that the crazy chicken ordered had potato slices underneath the chicken, but was good as well. The funny thing here is either the burgers are too big or everyone just likes to cut them instead of picking them up in their hands.

But when I asked for it (and pointed - she knew what I was saying), the waitress had to consult her peers to see if my outlandish request was possible to fulfill. It was, but she wasn't too happy about it. She said it would be 5 minutes, which is a lot in this fast paced, high-turnover deli where, I now understand, most people just point to the deli items they want in the case. 15 minutes later and after several targeted, forcefully annoyed glances back at the waitress with whom I had placed my order, I had my falafel sandwich. My expectations were pretty low at this point, but the sandwich was actually very good. Not the best falafel I've ever had, but one of the better incarnations I've had in Paris.
