The worst cinema experience in Switzerland, I recommend to just avoid it. I went to a 4DX movie…read more(Deadpool x Wolverine) where all 4D effects were not synchronized with the movie. More precise, every effect happened 2 seconds before, compared to the movie. This completely destroyed the movie experience, nothing made sense as you got a flash or hit in the chair before it actually happened on the screen. The cherry on the top was the heat inside the room in the middle of the summer with no ac, and very smelly. I tried to go out to find somebody, but late in the evening there were only cleaning personnel around. After reporting this, they promised in an email to refund the money. However, after 2 days, they just decided not to refund anymore, as 'the situation is not clear'. Also, no mention of actually fixing the issues in that email. Instead, they tried to offer tickets to a 'normal' screening (so not 3d/4d) of any future movie, but by now I don't want to be near that place, so I refused. Incredible lack of responsibility and absolutely careless about their clients. To my surprise I found many similar negative reviews starting years ago, which is another clear sign they absolutely don't care to fix anything and lack respect towards the people.

Seats are spacious and incredibly comfortable. The theater is well maintained, spotless, and super welcoming. Walking out takes you to an inviting bookstore, just take the steps up where people are relaxing on oversized pillows, and find yourself in a beautiful bookstore. Bars await, nice little restaurants, and wonderful gathering spots. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the dollars spent for such an unforgettable memory.

They show major 3D blockbusters in English, which is good for my German-challenged ability. Comfy seating with plenty of leg room and good Dolby stereo sound. Ticket prices include CHF 1 for cleaning fees. 3D movies come with permanent 3D glasses that you have to return after the show. If you lose or damage them, then the fine is CHF 50.-

I've been lucky the two times I've been here. Both in my ability to see the movie and the movies I've seen. Every other Wednesday they have "Pay After" movies. What movie you'll see is a surprise, but the good news is you only pay what you think it was worth (or how much change you have in your pocket). They have a good selection of movies, not just your Hollywood films. And the prices are reasonable. So the loss of stars just comes from the actual theater. Meaning smaller screens and less than optimal seating.

Since I moved to Zurich, I've watched two movies at this cinema. The first one was on a very small screen in a theater that sits about 40 people. The second one was on a even smaller screen with even less people...somewhat like how private independent film screenings are in NYC. The Abaton in Kreis 5 is within walking distance of our home. Funny things about cinema in Zurich that are different than what I'm used to. 1) assigned seating you select the seats by the box office on a little screen just below the cashier, and 2) intermission during the film that allows you to come out for a air/smoke/drink/bathroom/snack. It's nice not to have to make a restroom run out of the theater during "down times" of the movie hoping you're not missing anything important and then asking people what you missed when you run back. Good system. Can't wait til my sister in law comes over to babysit so we can go see another movie here :)

One of the bigger KINO (movie theater) in Zurich…read more Not particularly great about this Kino but it has multiple movie rooms playing both English and German movies. Most American movies are played in English with German/French subtitle. Seats are OK but again, nothing special. For 3D, you need to buy a 3D glasses for 3 CHF but you can keep it and reuse it next time (to save 3 CHF). ps: popcorn is cold (this is common in CH). ice creams are available too
