The worst cinema experience in Switzerland, I recommend to just avoid it. I went to a 4DX movie…read more(Deadpool x Wolverine) where all 4D effects were not synchronized with the movie. More precise, every effect happened 2 seconds before, compared to the movie. This completely destroyed the movie experience, nothing made sense as you got a flash or hit in the chair before it actually happened on the screen. The cherry on the top was the heat inside the room in the middle of the summer with no ac, and very smelly. I tried to go out to find somebody, but late in the evening there were only cleaning personnel around. After reporting this, they promised in an email to refund the money. However, after 2 days, they just decided not to refund anymore, as 'the situation is not clear'. Also, no mention of actually fixing the issues in that email. Instead, they tried to offer tickets to a 'normal' screening (so not 3d/4d) of any future movie, but by now I don't want to be near that place, so I refused. Incredible lack of responsibility and absolutely careless about their clients. To my surprise I found many similar negative reviews starting years ago, which is another clear sign they absolutely don't care to fix anything and lack respect towards the people.

Seats are spacious and incredibly comfortable. The theater is well maintained, spotless, and super welcoming. Walking out takes you to an inviting bookstore, just take the steps up where people are relaxing on oversized pillows, and find yourself in a beautiful bookstore. Bars await, nice little restaurants, and wonderful gathering spots. It is a bit pricey, but well worth the dollars spent for such an unforgettable memory.

3 stars for mixed experiences at this cinema, which ranges from "meh" to "pretty good"…read more The "meh" experiences have been not only my own but my friends in the sense that the movie goes awry and then it freezes. This doesn't happen often here, but then this never happens when my friends or I am at Corso. The last time I was here, the movie froze, and since they couldn't estimate a time when it would be fixed (which realistically probably wouldn't take too long but being on the safe side they didn't give a time); a few people walked out! The location is pretty good as there are several decent restaurants around here, but since many people don't live around here, having to take this tram to HB or Stadelhofen doesn't make it directly a straightforward meeting point vs. the super convenient Corso. The plus about this place is the seats are roomier and the leg space more generous than the other cinemas. If you are okay with taking the chance that the movie won't freeze and your commute to this location is good, then this is a pretty good place.

There is PLENTY of leg space in between rows so I really got to stretch out during this 2 hour 40 mins movie. The bathroom is very clean. The people that worked in this theatre are also friendly and courteous. They informed us that we had earned enough points on our account for 3 FREE ice creams. We promptly cashed out two of them and enjoyed it during the movie. Very happy to have found this theatre, would definitely use it again.

I came here to watch one of the films for the Zurich Film Festival. I thought I had paid like CHF 20 for 3D movies in Arena Sihlcity. But perhaps it was because it was a Wednesday night instead of the weekend? My friend was able to order our tickets online the day before and print them out, so that was convenient. Corso has assigned seats, and the best seats we could get were in the 4th row from the front, but it was okay. The good thing about assigned seats is that you can waltz in right before the movie starts, instead of having to arrive early to snag some good seats. The only bad thing was that we walked in when the commercials were already playing, so it was too dark to see the seat numbers... which were painted on the floor! We fumbled around in the dark a bit before finding our correct seats. I brought my 3D glasses from watching The Hobbit last time at Arena Sihlcity, and they worked fine for this movie, so I didn't need to pay for another set of 3D glasses. So save your glasses, folks! (Or else fork over CHF 3 to buy a new pair each time.) Seats were comfy with plenty of leg room, the sound system was great, the facilities were fairly clean and modern, but my friend noted that... there were no cup holders in the arm rests!! That was weird. As usual, I got ice cream during intermission. The concessions line was a bit long but moved fairly quickly. CHF 4.50 paid for a Mega Almond ice cream bar. I had just enough time to eat my ice cream, have a quick chat with the girls, and then it was back to watching the movie.

Tickets were around US $28 each for a current 3D flick, so factor that into your decisions. That price included a charge for the glasses I believe. Also noted, it seems that there is a 10 minute intermission in some (perhaps all?) films. Avenger's stopped abruptly in the middle, the lights came up and all of the Swiss patrons seemed totally to expect it. Not a bad idea at all.

They don't have fresh popcorn but a small selection of ready made pop corn, ice cream, good coffee, alcohol etc... there are breaks in the movies too. Really like this cinema and the feel. Also think it's kinda cute that a lot of elderly people come here and understand why they do too. Looking forward to my next movie here!

Coming from NYC I'm used to gigantic wide screen cinema that sits a thousand people for new movie…read morereleases. That's not the Abaton. Since I moved to Zurich, I've watched two movies at this cinema. The first one was on a very small screen in a theater that sits about 40 people. The second one was on a even smaller screen with even less people...somewhat like how private independent film screenings are in NYC. The Abaton in Kreis 5 is within walking distance of our home. Funny things about cinema in Zurich that are different than what I'm used to. 1) assigned seating you select the seats by the box office on a little screen just below the cashier, and 2) intermission during the film that allows you to come out for a air/smoke/drink/bathroom/snack. It's nice not to have to make a restroom run out of the theater during "down times" of the movie hoping you're not missing anything important and then asking people what you missed when you run back. Good system. Can't wait til my sister in law comes over to babysit so we can go see another movie here :)

One of the bigger KINO (movie theater) in Zurich…read more Not particularly great about this Kino but it has multiple movie rooms playing both English and German movies. Most American movies are played in English with German/French subtitle. Seats are OK but again, nothing special. For 3D, you need to buy a 3D glasses for 3 CHF but you can keep it and reuse it next time (to save 3 CHF). ps: popcorn is cold (this is common in CH). ice creams are available too
