Bring tote bags for all the treasures you will buy, cash/card, and good walking shoes as this is a big market that covers a wide space. The flowers were other-worldly and got me started on a dahlia quest that I have not yet recovered from. Now I want to grow gardens and gardens of just dahlias! Loved the cheese stands, too. And all the beautiful fruits and vegetables. I visited in late August/early September, so I am not sure what it is like in the spring, but definitely by late summer it is HOPPING! Loved it.

The market is located in downtown area so there were tons of street parking and shops to hop in and out of while venturing the market. The vendors are all local and are super friendly! We always seem to end to find something. But I also love the variety. The only thing is that there are so many vendors and the booths are rather close together so it's often an ant farm getting through, you move in one direction and commit all the way through. It…read morewas in very early spring, or maybe it was early summer actually, and there were very few vendors there. So my next visit wasn't until the summer and boy what a difference. Once the summer kicks in, there is quite a variety to choose from. The produce itself can be really really good or really underwhelming. Sometimes it is hit or miss. The other things of the farmers market, like Lesters Bison and Nana's Rum Cakes and Wildflower Bakery and the wine tastings they have really help to balance out all of those nutritious fruits and vegetables-makes it worth it. It's all about balance, right? ha ha One of my friends turned me onto the Lesters Bison vendor, and I will say if you're trying to cut back on fat and calories and cholesterol, this is the way to go. So now instead of using ground beef, I try and pick up some ground bison. We also tried the bison patties already formed and they were really great. We weren't sure what to expect but I kid you not, very flavorful and juicy. If this was regular ground beef and it was that thin, it would have been dull, tasteless and dry- the difference was very surprising. They also have tons of cuts of steak (ribeye was of course delish), and other choices like elk, etc. Let me just say this for the record: get your ass to Nana's Rum Cakes! You will not regret this. This is rum cake on a whole nother level. The couple that sells them, one of which is Nana, is charming, delightful. And I love supporting local business, but the spectacular taste of these rum cakes is what keeps you going back. I'm an addict for life now. I like the plain-vanilla or the plain-vanilla with nuts, but my husband is a drag and doesn't like the nuts, hehe, so I sacrifice for him. ha ha While the chocolate rum cake was okay, we both agreed it was not as special. But the plain-vanilla and with nuts is not to be missed. The market is especially lovely in the late summer or early fall. Two days ago it was just gorgeous. And there are a lot of vendors to choose from. You can go to their website and see which vendors will be there which week. It's very user friendly. Summer hours are 3-7 on Wednesdays, but they are soon switching for the new fall schedule which is on Saturday (mornings, I believe?), so hit up the website for hours. Why aren't you there yet?? Do you love sunflowers? Blueberries? Chickens? Or farms?…read more Then schedule a trip to Blue Clay Berry Farm. Located near Lake Geneva, it was a fun stop during a weekend trip. Entry is a bargain at $2 per adult. The field of sunflowers was so beautiful. After being greeted by a couple of cute helpers, we were off to explore the rows of giant sunflowers. Each stem was a bargain at $1 each or 6 for $5. Great place to take photos as well. Although we were a bit too late in the season to pick a bushel of blueberries, we were able to pick a handful for a sweet little midafternoon snack. While at the farm, you can also visit the calves and chickens. We also picked up a dozen of the freshest eggs for $3.50 per dozen. So delicious. Thanks to Ella and her helpers for showing us the farm, letting us pet the calves and helping us explore the rows and rows and rows of giant sunflowers. Definitely an unexpected highlight of our lake getaway.

They even have a Hmong family that have a stall that pumps out egg rolls, stuffed chicken wings, bubble tea, and chicken for there or to go. Like many others, it too was a Pandemic wedding that was to be held in 2020 and was different, difficult, taxing on my husband and my budget and frankly blew it up as many vendors were paid deposits in 2020. Let's be honest though the Pandemic hit everyone not just the bride and groom like other reviewers state. The vendors sufferer still, from florists, musicians, photographers, caterers, etc. We signed a contract and we ALL know what this means. So, this beautiful venue not only honored this contract 18 months later, they did it beautifully. We are still getting RAVE REVIEWS 20 days after the wedding which was August 6 (original date was July 24, 2020) and this from single men from Chicago, couples from Kansas...the service the food, oh the food one of the most mentioned items of the wedding weeks after mind you. The venue was immaculate the grounds and the communication all so above expectations that people are still chatting. The florist, Event Floral had the place decorated so Royale, the coordinator on grounds and ours didn't skip a beat. Our dinner staff were delightful. This is a top notch wedding and event venue that is highly recommended and it's deplorable that when people don't get their way they try to leave unhappy reviews. This pandemic has hit everyone and together we can work this out and become better...although I'm unsure how this venue can improve. We discovered a knife and tool sharpening service and the time we went we took a bunch of tools for sharpening. Very good job! The popcorn vendor has a unique blend of salt and sugar, which is tasty. There is a man who creates yard items and I purchased a potting table from him. A gorgeous piece. Great craftsman. They had plants, some vegetables, but we have been told by the organizer as summer continues, additional vendors will be bringing more produce. Bonus, we get to walk through the nursery and see what's new!
