Buyer Beware..... We signed on with RuralLynx for their 15Mbps residential service hoping to get at…read moreleast 10M at any one time. The 15M was great early in the day but dropped to an unusable 3M or less in the evening when it was required. When we questioned them about this drop in bandwidth, we were told to reboot all the equipment which we did but to no avail. They then suggested it may be the router but it was tested at another site and worked well. Then they said it may be their device but would cost us a service call of $75 for them to test their equipment so we refused. Bell would not charge to check their equipment so it seemed odd. We were asked to do and submit speed tests so they could have a look at the speeds. It was then suggested to us that we buy the next package up so that would give us more bandwidth. This was somewhat confusing because why would we pay more for the next package up if they couldn't even provide what we currently had. The last time that we talked to one of their techs was on a weekend, at which time he said he would look into it for us and get back to us on Monday. At this point, we would have been happy to downgrade our service to their 5Mbps package but we didn't get the chance. We received a very rude call from them at the beginning of the next week informing us that they were dropping us as a customer immediately since we weren't satisfied and could not provide the service. Not once, other than telling us to reboot our equipment or suggesting that it was issue with our router, etc., did they make an effort to find out why the service dropped down so low in the evening. My husband and I both have a telecom background and we do understand that with increased traffic, i.e. in the evening, there is bound to be a slowdown in bandwidth but not from 15Mbps down to 1 or 2Mbps. This whole experience was just astounding. The customer service was great at the beginning but as soon as we questioned the slippage in our bandwidth, they became extremely rude and decided to get rid of us as a customer rather than try to fix the problem.
