They confirmed I could…read morehave the time and day and cutter I requested too, so the speed and accuracy of their booking service is excellent. The staff were professional and curteous, the salon was nicely appointed, and the staff didn't do the big push of products that you sometimes get. I got my hair cut into more or less its existing style, and the cutter, Lisa, really listened to what I wanted and got it right. A few weeks later, I got a voucher in the mail offering me a free blow wave, as a welcome for being a new customer, which I thought was really nice. I think if you introduce a new client you get a reward voucher too. The prices are a little on the high side, but I'm going back.

I was very disappointment from the services received at Zurri Ellerlise on my wedding day. On a…read moremorning which should be most exciting and happy I was left upset, frustrated and distressed. The hairdresser spent no time to work through and discuss what I had wanted for my hair. Stating that they could not work the picture style options I had given them. I had clearly stated I did not want anything tight and pulled back, but that is exactly what my hair looked like. Not once was I asked about how I wanted to work with my hair. I was so upset and left crying in the bathroom. My bridesmaids were poorly taken care of. Reporting to me that the hairdresser had slapped her hand when she asked about her hair falling out of place in the front. My other bridesmaid who was in the chair for less then 5 minutes to have a bow clip placed in her hair and charged $30. They were left with limp curls and messy plaits which did not hold for the day, falling out before we even left for the wedding ceramony. After frequenting the salon previously for similar services and always being happy with the result I was tremendously disgruntled on my wedding day. I would not be recommending Zurri Ellerslie salons services to anyone. I was very upset at how the morning was handled in the salon.

The staff are involved in all the top fashion shows, photo shoots and are very highly regarded. You always know you're going to get what you've asked for and that you're getting the lastest advice, techniques and colours. You can always judge a place by their staff and you can tell Stephen Marr is awesome because their staff are awesome. They always look really fashionable, are friendly, and willing to go above and beyond for their customers. I recently went to the Takapuna Salon to get my hair done for a wedding but had booked in at the Newmarket one. Oops. Luckily they rearranged their day to fit me in and I am so grateful as if they hadn't I would've had to of tamed my crazy hair myself! That would not have been fun at all. The salon is also an amazing place with plant walls and cool industrial furniture. They also gave me an awesome coffee to enjoy while being pampered which won me over even more.

Not only are they talented and crazy-cool but they all seem to love their jobs and genuinely care about their clients. Last week I booked in to see Donni at Stephen Marr, having not been to the hairdressers in over 10months. To say my hair had turned into an unruly mane would be an understatement (think 12 year old Hermione Granger). With the only instruction being "pleeeeease fix it", Donni and her colourist Dani set to work and within a few hours I was walking out of there with freshly cut ends and creamy blond highlights. Whole. New. Alex. It must also be mentioned that Stephen Marr/The Department Store has one of the best playlists ever. Any iPod that jumps from 'Stuck in the Middle with You' by Stealers Wheel to 'Ms Jackson' by Outkast is A-OK with me.

I moved to New Zealand from Los Angeles 12 years ago and Sandi the owner is the first person who has provided me with the quality of colour I've been spoiled with in LA. The aesthetician Brooke is also lovely. She always gets my brow waxes just right, and does facials, massages, manis and pedis too. I also get eyelash extensions by her on special occasions and they are lovely. There is a new barber for men at the salon, too - so the whole family can get their hair and beauty needs met in one go. The shop is fun and unassuming, welcoming and airy. The staff are awesome, there is always laughter and a good vibe. The prices are crazy low, I'd never have though I could get such quality at such an affordable price. I can't recommend this place highly enough, it's really wonderful.

I have to say that I haven't been back since I've been home, mostly due to lack of funds and hair cuts at Servilles not being on the cheap side. That being said however, you definitely pay for what you get - I don't really remember a time where I left Servilles unhappy with my haircut, apart from maybe a few times when they cut my fringe a tad short. All of the staff here are really well trained and I always feel safe with my locks in their hands. They all have a great sense of style as well, so you can rest assured knowing that they won't accidentally give you a tacky hair cut that they claim to be the latest 'trend'. So if you care about your hair and you can afford their prices, give them a call and I'm sure they'll be able to squeeze you in on their busy schedule.

My sister recommended this place to me, it's a house that has been converted into a salon. At first I was skeptical, but when you go in you really wouldn't know you were in a house. It was a beautiful clean and modern salon! I had rung ahead and booked my appointment for a student which I believe was around $35! I got a wash and a cut, blow wave was extra but I felt I didn't need it. I had taken in a photograph of what I wanted and I was so pleased with the finished product. All throughout the cut the hairdresser was talking to me and continually asking questions to ensure she got everything right. I really couldn't believe that I had got this beautiful cut for only $35. On Tuesday's they do a children's special between 3-5pm which is a wash and cut for only $20! If you're under 17 you're classed a child which is ever better. They also offer services such as colour, highlight's, extensions and treatments. It really just takes that one step to be brave and try something new! Note: I believe their hours change dependent on bookings. You can book online and receive and instant confirmation.
