I used to go to the Pakuranga branch for years but my executive stylist had moved on - so I relocated to the Botany branch. My most recent stylist is Anna, she is an absolute doll and I love her expertise and the way she just knows what to do with my hair! Almost all the time, I just arrive with my long hair and she'd ask me "So what are we doing today"? and I would respond with a "You tell me", and she would just work her magic. I love that I have this kind of relationship with my stylist and I am always 100% happy with the outcome. You would have probably seen photos of my hair and I always do get compliments regarding my hair - well its because of Anna and Schnips guys! My most recent visit was before I left for my overseas experience USA bound back in March and I had always been wanting to try ombre'. It took about 2 hours to complete. Anna and the assistant stylist that helped took the time and their full attention to make sure that both colours blended together nicely! I was so stoked when my hair was dried and Anna even went through the trouble of tinting my eyebrows to make sure it matched with my new do! She is amazing. Looking at how long my hair is now I had to actually get rid of the ombre` as it ended up looking like really bad regrowth and I can not be sporting something like that... ha. In regards to service, Schnips has always treated me well! Both of the locations I had been to have been absolutely amazing and I love that they offer you beverage the moment you arrive. They also keep a file or record from all your previous visits so they know what was last done when there. The head massage is also amazing and they take the time to shampoo your hair twice, condition and even do a treatment. I usually spend about $250 or ever more when I visit but let me tell you it is absolutely worth it. I don't even blink when I hand over my card because of the results. Just stunning. I love it and I can't wait to come back to get my hair pampered!

I was attended by an unexperienced girl who let the color sit on the root for too long, which ended up causing a orange carrot shade and after realising the horrible disaster they saturated my hair in peroxide to try to light up the point. I left very disappointed and I ended up paying about 245$ NZD for a redish/black/orange color that wasn't even the one I expected.

So far so good. The appintment went well too, Tadeus gives an excellent consultation and cuts hair beautifully, with real care and precision. Great. Then for the highlights... Everything was fine until he handed me over to another hairdresser (why oh why?) who over-cooked the foils and then didn't manage to contain the panic in his voice. To top it off, I see the hairdressers making "oh-wow-you-really-stuffed-up-her-hair" faces to each other. I would have preferred an apology.

Instead of just doing it, they came up with a plan to try and get my hair back to better condition, before putting anything in it. Every time I have been to a hairdresser they have just gone ahead and damaged my hair. They even suggested I use a certain product that would help (normally hairdressers try and sell you everything) but they only tried to guide me on product which has made an amazing difference to my hair. I am very happy with them and can finally say I have found a great hairdresser which I will be going to for a very long time. :)

This was the worst experience at any salon…read more I've been going to this hair salon and had Irina for the past 4 years. I went on Tuesday to find Irina was no longer working there. My hair had been getting blonder with the foils and the regrowth was standing out quickly. I asked the new stylist if i could have something that would be a softer blonde and blend the natural colour I have a bit. I do love the blonde and have loved what Irina has done just bring it back slightly. When the colour was complete, I had light ginger regrowth and the stylist was upset and said it was my scalp reacting to the colour and not her fault. Also it was Irina's fault that she didnt know exactly what my colour was. Then she spent honestly about 5 minutes cutting my hair and then said I'll fix the colour. She added a new colour to my head and after a while it started hurting. She washed it off and the result was red/orange roots with grey strips throughout. I was shocked honestly. She blow dried my hair and went out back. I went and found my jacket and went to the counter and was told I didn't need to pay for the colour but did need to pay $125 for the cut and the owner would be in touch. My scalp has peeled and I've never heard from anyone. I went and had it fixed at another salon on Saturday. Not Rodney Wayne. They found the cut was very uneven and found patches of hair that didn't have the colour on it at the back. They have fixed my hair and I love it. It will take a few goes to get rid of the orange/ red but I'm on the right path with a stylist that understands colour. Such a shame I have been a loyal customer to Rodney Wayne Ormiston for 4 years and they couldn't even pick up the phone and check on me or see if they could help to fix it. Just dumped! I will never walk into a Rodney Wayne Salon again and strongly suggest you think hard before getting your hair coloured from this franchise.

I'm too cheap to spend money at the hairdressers, so this is where I come for my annual (or…read morebi-annual) haircut... but seriously, it's a great place to bring the kids for their haircuts. Somehow I've managed to train my kids into thinking that the only place you EVER get lollipops is at the hairdressers, so they are always pestering me to take them for a haircut (that's a pro parenting tip right there!). The price has gone up to $20 for kids, but it doesn't matter - they do a great job, and the kids love it. As it's a community hairdressers, there are often other kids getting their hair cut as well, so it's pretty fun. Business must be great because they've recently expanded into the next shop space to offer colouring treatments as well.

I waited for about 10 mins in the waiting room while my friend got her eyelashes done. A staff member came, looked at me and walked back out without a smile or a word. What am I, invisible? Another few minutes went by and then three staff gathered around the counter and had a highly confidential chat about money/business in front of me. They saw me there, smirked and carried on without a greeting. It felt like I turned into a ghost! After nearly half an hour of waiting & watching them do no work, I stormed out and got a haircut elsewhere. To Top it all off with something not at all Pretty, a few days later, my friend got an eye infection from the tinting. Beware! Not only is this place a ghastly pink colour, it's filled with ghastly customer service and poor quality deals.

My sister recommended this place to me, it's a house that has been converted into a salon. At first I was skeptical, but when you go in you really wouldn't know you were in a house. It was a beautiful clean and modern salon! I had rung ahead and booked my appointment for a student which I believe was around $35! I got a wash and a cut, blow wave was extra but I felt I didn't need it. I had taken in a photograph of what I wanted and I was so pleased with the finished product. All throughout the cut the hairdresser was talking to me and continually asking questions to ensure she got everything right. I really couldn't believe that I had got this beautiful cut for only $35. On Tuesday's they do a children's special between 3-5pm which is a wash and cut for only $20! If you're under 17 you're classed a child which is ever better. They also offer services such as colour, highlight's, extensions and treatments. It really just takes that one step to be brave and try something new! The hair dresser confirmed with me that it will be below shoulder, with a long layer, perfect I thought. Tidy while still keeping some curls. Wrong. He hacked it off above my shoulders, with no layers. Not even close to the style I showed in the book, in any way. No length kept, no style, a glorified bowl cut basically.
