My friend had somehow scored a "2 for $70" blowdry deal that included a glass of bubbles and a chocolate for us to nibble on while we got our hair done. I really enjoyed the experience at Dry & Tea. The staff were lovely and took a few minutes to work out how I wanted my hair done, showing me some pictures and talking about what I normally do with my hair to make sure they approached the task in the best possible way. The hair wash was good, though if I'd had time I would have added on the extra head massage option for $15. Who doesn't love a head massage! My blow dry was excellent. There was plenty of body at the top and curl at the end, and I managed to keep it looking good for five days by putting it in a top knot to sleep. Even if I'd paid the full $45, this was would have been money well spent. To not have to worry about my hair while away on business was worth every cent.

I came in based on the looks and the interior of the salon. I had a few cm of my ends cut because it was damaged from bleaching, dry and very tangly, and just wanted to fix the ends where there were a few knots. I got a moisturising shampoo, a wed and dry cut with a touch of hair serum on the tips. My hair is now smooth and silky like there were never damaged. Michelle was chatty and friendly, she did exactly what I said and wanted. The result, satisfying. The price was 85, which was more than I expected. But defiantly worth it and I'll pick this place again for the next time I'll need a trim.

Having previously used Toni & Guy salons for a while in the UK and also once in Kuala Lumpur, I thought it would be a sensible move to go to a brand I could trust whilst here in Auckland. Luckily the Auckland salon didn't disappoint. The girl I had, Vicki, was really attentive and listened to exactly what I wanted before making a start on my cut. She worked really quickly; usually my short hair takes around an hour and a half, but Vicki did the cut in little over an hour including hair wash and head massage and a blow-dry. The salon is modern, tidy and provided a great atmosphere and all of the staff I came across were really friendly. At $70, I thought the cut was a reasonable price and I was able to walk out of the salon pleased with the overall result. I am confident I will return there next time and would highly recommend Vicki.

I also told her that i wasn't a big fan of blow dry and guess what she said to me after the hair cut?: "Ok i know you don't like it but i'm gonna blow dry your hair, it's gonna looks like much better!" What don't you understand when i said "i don't like blow drying my hair!!"?? Why did you made me a hair cut who looks better with it?! I though that for this price, i was in the right to expect a real professional advice who'll be able to see what looks better on me! Waist of money and lots of tears....

Owner Gio has been running this business for the past 7-8 years - quite surprised by this because I wish I had noticed it sooner! When I arrived, Gio was super friendly as was her assistant. As said previously, it is only $30 for a women's style cut ($25 for men and $15 for under 7's), which is a great price! However, it doesn't include a hair wash/hair massage - this is an extra $5, but even then, $35 for a haircut is still pretty good! Even though there were a few language barriers throughout the time I was there, we both just ended up laughing! As also said, it would be good idea to bring a picture of the exact style cut you want, however I was just getting a trim and showed Gio using my hands how much hair I wanted chopped off. Gio did a great job, was attentive and very efficient - highly recommend! As well as haircuts, they also do manicures, pedicures, acrylic, nail art and the like. Definitely planning to go back to get a pedicure done! Another benefit of Gio Hair & Nail is that it is situated right next to the Newmarket Train Station, which means it is easy to get to if you're taking the train from the CBD after work, and it's also near all the shops, cafes and restaurants on Broadway, which would make it the perfect weekend activity, after a spot of shopping of course!
