This review is specifically towards the vaccine clinic held back in March. I *think* they hold vaccine clinics twice a year (I believe I overheard an employee mention). I took the following info (also I posted the screen shot) from the event's fb event page: This vaccine clinic will be held at the shelter. 10909 Bonneyview Ln Hanford, CA 93230 "$5 each: Rabies Distemper/Parvo (Dogs) FVRCP (Cats) Flea and Tick Treatment Deworming $10 Microchip While you're here... Sign up your pet for SPAY AND NEUTER! Cats: $25 Dogs: $100 If you can't afford the cost to spay and neuter and would like to, come talk to us!" I needed to have one my cat's microchipped; the event started at 10am. I arrived a few minutes after 10, thinking I would beat the crowd, and there was a looooong line already! My most valuable tip for future clinics - arrive early!! The employees were helpul; you'll be asked to fill out one form, pay your fee (they do take plastic besides cash) in one line. After that, you'll head into the 2nd line for the vet services. Keep in mind there's only one vet & it's out in their parking lot under 2 small tents, so you'll be out under the sun. Start to finish, the process was about a hour wait. My cat needed to be microchipped & at $10 it's a great deal (our usual vet charges $40 the last time I checked plus idk if there's a dr visit fee on top of that to give you an idea). Definitely worth checking into if you're a pet owner.

I was told both verbally and in writing that I had seven (7) days to notify the rescue of any medical issues. Within that seven-day period, I notified them in writing that my newly adopted Persian cat developed yellow eye discharge, squinting, and signs concerning for an eye infection, which is not typical Persian tearing. I also notified the rescue of my concerns regarding delayed or limited access to medical treatment, as prompt veterinary care is important to prevent unnecessary suffering. Despite reporting the issue within the stated timeframe, I was informed that no veterinary costs would be covered, and that treatment would require returning the cat to the shelter rather than allowing local veterinary care. Based on the condition that appeared shortly after adoption, I felt misled by being told the cat was in "good health." While I am not saying this was intentional, the information provided did not align with my experience once the cat was home, which was concerning. I share this so future adopters can make informed decisions. Please be cautious, especially when adopting brachycephalic or exotic breeds such as Persians, which are prone to eye and respiratory issues. Clarify in writing what "good health" means and what medical support, if any, is provided after adoption.

I want to start by acknowledging that euthanizing a pet is already one of the hardest decisions a…read morefamily can make. We were in an incredibly painful situation, our dog had bitten our daughter in the face twice and needed to be euthanized for her safety. We had adopted him from a shelter, and finding a compassionate, affordable option was not easy. Shelters were at capacity, the SPCA quoted over $500, and other vets were similarly overpriced. We called Northpoint, received a price over the phone, and made the 45-minute drive from out of town, already emotionally drained. What we experienced once we arrived made a devastating day so much worse. First, upon arrival we were informed, for the first time, that we needed to bring paperwork from the shelter where we adopted our dog. No one mentioned this when we called. Staff attempted to contact the shelter themselves, said they couldn't reach them, and then told us they might not be able to help us at all. My husband had to get back in the car, drive to the shelter to retrieve immunization records, and return, adding significant time and stress to an already traumatic experience. Second, when we were finally seen, they quoted us a higher price than what we were given over the phone. They also attempted to add an urgent care fee, claiming we had been given an urgent appointment, which was not true. My husband had to push back just to get them to reconsider. When he mentioned the original price we were quoted by phone, staff told him there was nothing they could do. We were grieving. We were exhausted. We had already driven nearly an hour and a half round trip for paperwork. And Northpoint chose that moment to add surprise fees and dismiss our concerns entirely. It felt like they knew we had no other options and used that against us. I wouldn't wish this experience on any family already going through the pain of losing a pet. If you're in a similar situation, I'd encourage you to get everything, pricing and requirements, in writing before you make the trip.
